Members and Database areas open at CLAMP-NET.COM

Make sure to check the new areas of CLAMP-NET.COM which have just been opened!

The members-only area has a bunch of new features including a section called CLAMP Graffiti, which consists of CLAMP members’ individual Private Boards and the new “CLAMP Blog”. In the CLAMP Blog, Satsuki Igarashi will write her Shimarisu no Hoobukuro columns, Tsubaki Nekoi and Nanase Ohkawa will share the same blog and Mokona’s blog is entitled Mokona no Okimono Kimono.

I assume that Satsuki will probably write monthly columns, Nekoi and Ohkawa will review books (judging by the picture they are reading books ?) and Mokona will talk about Kimonos.

Check also the new Database section.

They have also an online shop but it’s currently under construction.

CLAMP NEWS !!

CLOVER movie adaptation in negotiation (Updated)

Dark Horse has announced today at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that the company is currently in negotiations with Universal studios to produce a live action movie adaptation of CLOVER.

However, no deal has been signed yet as the two companies are still discussing it.

The news come from ANN.

On March 2008 I mentioned here the deal between Dark Horse and Universal, and since then I’ve been wondering if the deal would be responsible for making the first Hollywood adaptation of a CLAMP manga. By that time, however, Carl Horn was asked about Mangettes being adapted into a movie.

I have always, I mean ALWAYS thought that if one CLAMP manga were to be made into a movie, that manga would be CLOVER. I personally think there is no better work for that. I mean, sure, others could come later but it would be perfect to start with CLOVER since I think it’s CLAMP’s most cinematographic manga to date. If you know me and if you have talked to me about this subject, you probably remember me telling you this once xD

This news left me very happy and very excited! I hope the project does see the light and I hope CLAMP will have their involvement. I can totally see Oscars nominations too (okay, one thing at a time, one thing at a time xD).

I will keep you updated about this exciting possibility, definitely!

On other news, specially for American people, Dark Horse has hinted that it will be publishing CLAMP Mokona Okimono Kimono in the United States in the near future by displaying the book’s cover in its booth at Comic-Con.

No official announcement has been given yet, though. It would be very cool to have an english version of the book!

EDIT: Regarding the CLAMP IN AMERICA guidebook, in Del Rey’s panel they revealed that the release date has been postponed to March, 2010. The reason behind the postponement is the increase in page number and also because CLAMP provided great art and opted to make pics larger (according to Deb Aoki). The book was originally announced to have 144 pages, then 336 pages and now 384 pages is the latest counting. Source: AnimeVice

1000th Post: Wish New Version #3 & #4 – Covers

Now that was fast! Kadokawa has announced the remaining two covers of the new version of Wish, meaning of volumes #3 and #4:

So nice to have all the main characters in all covers \o/ You can check the covers for volumes #1 and #2 here. I like how Kohaku is holding a different kind of flower in each cover =D Quite similar to the original covers in that aspect.

These will be released on September 26.

By the way people, this is wow, my 1000th post! Thank you so much you guys, it’s quite an achievement for me =D

Wish New Version #1 and #2 – Covers

Kadokawa has announced the covers of the new version of Wish #1 and #2:

Both volumes will be on sale August 26.

Yey, not the same illustration from the Newtype article! And I like these much more than the original covers, no offense, but they are you know, colorful xD

Nanase Ohkawa interview from Newtype #8 (Updated)

Here is the interview with Nanase Ohkawa that was published in this month’s issue of Newtype magazine, it also features a new Wish illustration:

It’s not really an interview since there is no interviewer, just Ohkawa talking about the anime ^^;

Credits for the scan goes to undini (thank you so much!), who also points some highlights from the interview:

– Kobato.’s world and Wish’s world is the same.
– When they were setting the plot for Ioryogi, from the beginning they thought that he did something in the world of Wish and because of that he became like this.
– They don’t know how many characters from Wish will appear in the Kobato. anime.
– Ohkawa says that Kohaku knows about Kobato and Ioryogi, but she doesn’t want to say anything else since it will be spoiling the anime.

EDIT: Allan Montenegro kindly translated the interview to portuguese and I retranslated it to english:

Two worlds connected

The worlds of “Kobato.” and “Wish” are the same!! In the end, there will probably be a lot of readers who cannot hide the surprise upon seeing this new fact! To start with, where the idea came from?

“When we first thought about Ioryogi’s creation, we thought about making a mysterious being coming from a world like the Heaven that we first described in “Wish”, for some reason, we thought about changing his appearance to the way it looks now. Since we decided that Ioryogi would appear, one could tell that both worlds were connected.”

With the animation of “Kobato.”, the two worlds will be more closely connected.

“It was a decision that came up during a meeting. We decided that to visually show the world of angels would be easier to understand to story. So, by making Kohaku appear, both stories become much more connected. Even so, in the end the title is still “Kobato.”. At the moment, it’s not clear how much Kohaku and the other “Wish” characters will appear (laughs). Besides, it is known that Kobato and Kohaku both sing very well, it would be very pleasant to make them sing.”

They are not just good at singing, in one way or another, Kobato and Kohaku have a lot in common. What kind of connection there is between them?

“If I tell you that, I would be spoiling a lot (laughs). However, it’s established in the anime version that Kohaku knows about Kobato and Ioryogi. The uncommon love that exists in the [Wish] manga is very strong, I think we won’t be able to develop Kohaku’s efforts [in the anime]. Upon watching the Ending, I thought “I’m so glad! It looks so cute!”, it looks good in the anime, very pleasant to watch. I hope you’ll like it.”

So the Ending animation is already done! And in the end it was an interview. A 3-questions long interview, but an interview nonetheless xD

CLAMP in Paris: more media appearances

I honestly don’t know when I’ll stop talking about CLAMP in Paris xD Probably when the news stop coming ^^;

First let’s start with a new article published in ParisMatch.com featuring a very nice new picture of the CLAMP members. The interview was conceived just before going to the opening party of the CLAMP exposition in Paris.

The article reveals that more than 110 million copies of CLAMP mangas have been sold worldwide so far. Also, Ohkawa tells ParisMatch that CLAMP works 12 hours per day and 25 days per month.

Thanks for the tip!

Next, this video provided by HachetteVideos in shows some footage of CLAMP in Japan Expo from July 4.

The video is available in HD quality and I have ripped and uploaded the HD version (72 MB) in MegaUpload for anyone interested in keeping the video.

Lastly, gettyimages has 3 videos from the interview that CLAMP gave to the AFP press agency on July 3. This is the raw version of the interview, all in japanese, no french translation. There are other 2 videos (a raw version and an english version) about shoujo manga with some new CLAMP footage as well.

To download the videos, click on the Download 4:3 preview clip link at the sidebar. Since they are preview clips, all videos are watermarked.

Interview (raw) / Shoujo manga + CLAMP (raw) / Shoujo manga + CLAMP (english)

I love when Ohkawa says “It wasn’t as if we decided that we didn’t want men, but it just ended up that we were all women” xD

CLAMP NEWS !!

CLAMP in Paris: Pictures and Videos (Updated)

This post in an attempt to gather the pictures and videos that I have made while I was in Paris and also the material that appeared on the internet. There are some contributions too from some kind people that I met there who shared their pictures and videos with me.

If you have pictures and videos and would like to share, I would love to have them so please feel free to do it ^^

I tried to make the post as organized as possible, but it might look a bit confusing xD I have separated the material by dates and one for the local press. Furthermore, I’ve separated each of them in picture galleries and videos.

The videos are in several formats: AVI, MPG, MOV and FLV. You might need a special player or codec to play them correctly.
