The volume 3 cover of the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition of ANGELIC LAYER has been announced!
As expected. we have Shirahime with Misaki and Hikaru, but what I was NOT expecting is seeing Blanche there! So that means we could be seeing more than one additional angel. Maybe there is a chance of seeing Mao and Alice too 🙂 Perhaps it’s a bit too late for Ranga? We’ll see…
It’s the first time we have FOUR characters on an ANGELIC LAYER cover!

The volume 2 cover of the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition of ANGELIC LAYER has been announced!
Again, it looks so cool and agile! Suzuka looks great, also!
It’s safe to say the pattern for this edition will be Misaki, Hikaru + the angel featured on the back cover of the original edition. It’s the first time we have 3 characters on an ANGELIC LAYER cover — even the DVDs had always only 2 characters.
A little too bad we won’t be seeing the other “deuses”, but at least we will be seeing their angels! I’m glad it will not just be Misaki and Hikaru alone for another 5 covers.
Volume 2 will be released on June 10th.

The volume 1 cover of the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition of ANGELIC LAYER has been announced!
Moreover, a box to hold all 5 volumes has been announced and it will be sold via Newtype Anime Market. Reservations will last from May 9th to July 10th.
I really, really liked the cover! ANGELIC LAYER suits the style of CPC so I had a feeling that the cover would look good. All the “movement” and “speed” expected from ANGELIC LAYER are there. And I love that they kept the “rule” of using a brown color for the strokes. It looks really good!
It features Misaki and Hikaru, of course! I wonder if they will be in all covers or if they will have other characters with their angels. It would be good to see the other characters, just like they did for the VHS/DVD covers for the TV Anime. We’ll find out that “pattern” by the next volume.
I was also expecting the covers to be white, just like the original. And just like Chobits, I think all 5 covers will be white. The texts are black and red, which is similar to Chobits as well, but unlike Chobits, I don’t think the text colors will change for every volume.
Oh, and the box design looks nice! They used the recent illustration they did for Young Ace’s 30th anniversary! I thought that was a nice touch.

Kadokawa has announced the release schedule for ANGELIC LAYER, the 8th series of CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION. The releases will be monthly, from May to September:
Volume 1: May 9th Volume 2: June 10th Volume 3: July 10th Volume 4: August 10th Volume 5: September 10th
Each volume will cost 1,056 yens and will have the same color pages as the original Kadokawa Comics ACE version (the only edition of ANGELIC LAYER that exists), apart from a newly drawn cover illustration by CLAMP.
At this point, there is no mention of a bonus prize for those collecting all volumes, which is a bit strange, considering even CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan had one.
Given those dates, I would say it’s unlikely that the 9th title (by Kodansha) will come out still in 2026, which probably means ANGELIC LAYER will be the only series of CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION to be released this year.

The obi strip that comes with the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition of CLOVER volume 1 is announcing that the next series will be ANGELIC LAYER! The first volume will be released in Japan in their Spring of 2026.
Once again we will be having a big break between releases, and it’s still unclear what’s the release schedule going to be like (probably one volume per month).
Now, the only long series left for Kadokawa is RG Veda.
Can’t wait for the new covers! Are we in for another set of white covers?

YES! We were spoiled by Kodansha today and the volume 2 cover of the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition of CLOVER has been announced as well!

So it is Oruha and Suu! Unfortunately Lan is out, but I like having Suu on both covers. They are both showing their full bodies as well. The art nouveau designs in the corners are a little different from vol. 1 as well.
I like Suu a little less, here. I’m not loving her face and she looks a little stiff, but I LOVE Oruha here!!!! She’s not exactly how she’s usually drawn but it looks GOOD! And beautiful, as she is!

WOW! It actually looks great? I love the style here! Suu looks great! I like Kazuhiko too although the style difference can be noticed more with him.
The cover layout is different too with the bottom half of Kazuhiko’s body unseen (a bit like the Magic Knight Rayearth covers). I wonder if volume 2 will follow a similar pattern. And who is it going to be in the cover of volume 2? Oruha and Lan?

I ran a poll some time ago on my social network and most people voted for CLOVER as the next Kodansha CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION title. With this, only Cardcaptor Sakura (classic and Clear Card), Tsubasa (classic and Nirai Kanai arc) and XXXHOLiC Rei, which is ongoing, are still left from Kodansha.
I did not expect such a long gap… the first volume is scheduled for their Fall. This is the biggest break to date between CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION releases. CLAMP must be really busy, or something else…
Anyway, always happy to see new CLOVER art! Hopefully they will make 4 volumes, like the classic edition, instead of 2.
Update: It will be the 2-volumes edition released in 2008. The releases will span from the Japanese Fall to the Winter.
