It’s been forever, but XXXHOLiC Rei is finally back! We have 4 color pages, as usual for tankoubon opening chapters.

The color spread is nice, but I don’t think it will go down to becoming one of my favorites. Watanuki’s face looks a little off in my opinion. Also, his pinky finger is not folded as usual… a mistake?

So we didn’t get to see the creepy, darkness-consumed version of Zashiki Warashi arriving at the shop in the color pages (almost!), but we still got two pretty cool color pages with Seoritsu-hime wandering inside the shop’s warehouse! That in itself was real treat because the warehouse looks super cool in color and Seoritsu-hime is always a delight seeing in color — this is the second time in a row she appears on the color pages! CLAMP definitely have their favorites haha

And what else would she pick from the warehouse? Sakura’s Wand replica of course! (well, to be fair, Clow’s sealing wand used by Sakura). Long time no see!

In the warehouse, Seoritsu-hime says that the fact that she came to the shop “again” is also “hitsuzen” (the quotes on both are on the original, as well).

Then she adds that typically the first thing people forget (about someone else) is their voice, but perhaps the last thing is their scent. And finally she says “Yuuko”.

It should be no surprise to us that Momo/Seoritsu-hime knows about Yuuko. All the powerful people in the CLAMP universe know each other. But there is one new “information”: Momo/Seoritsu-hime has been on the shop before, while Yuuko was the owner. I’m assuming this must have been even before Watanuki entered the shop, after all the Book had been with Akiho since she was a child. I hope we will get that flashback or full backstory at one point.

We still don’t know who created the Book (and Momo/Seoritsu-hime, consequently) and I am not sure if this scene is enough to conclude that Yuuko created it. There is some strong suggesting, but I need more. And why show Sakura’s wand? She’s talking about Yuuko after all…. What’s the message here??? I did consider Sakura as her creator but that would require some serious time traveling.

We’re back to Watanuki, who is waiting for Zashiki Warashi’s arrival in the rain. She arrives with Ame Warashi and we learn that Watanuki put the shop’s kekkai down so she could come.

She gives the cage back to Watanuki and thanks him, who thanks her back.

Next, Watanuki talks about his idea of giving the “Shuka” to the Fuuri, to which Ame Warashi objects, but Zashiki Warashi seems to agree with it (because that is what Watanuki wishes).

Ame Warashi is obviously concerned, but we still don’t know what Watanuki wishes for to Masaki (and what he paid for it, for that matter), there is also the thing he asked Doumeki to do, and the crimson pearl and the Book, so I am thinking that he has a plan that could save both Zashiki Warashis (the real one and the lookalike). I don’t believe for a second that Watanuki would do anything to harm Zashiki Warashi. He’s learned his lesson, I would say.

Let’s see what he will do. This week’s Young Magazine is announcing that the Zashiki Warashi arc in its climax, so we finally must be heading to the conclusion, which is good!
