BLOOD-C #10 (#8 and #9 too)

RAW version available here | Subbed version by OX fansubs available here.

Episodes 8 and 9 subbed by Underwater fansubs here.

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– Episodes 8 and 9 were more entertaining to watch than 10 (this one was so sloooooow!!). Strange creatures aside, I liked all the killings (how morbid of me!) for episodes 8 and 9, even though they were censored for the TV.

– Episode 10 was more painful to watch. The pacing is so slow! When you keep checking the progress bar to see how much episode there is left, you know something is wrong! I think we had 2 minutes of a scene of Saya drinking coffee? Seriously…

– At first I was surprised that this show would be 12 episodes, but now I completely understand it, and I would say 12 is too much. You could easily tell such a story in 6 episodes, the pacing is just too slow.

– With 2 episodes left, things are starting to wrap up, and Saya is realizing that everything around her is fake (about time!).

– I am struggling to watch this series, if CLAMP wasn’t involved, I wouldn’t have reached this far into it.

BLOOD-C #7

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here.

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– I dare to say this was by far the most CLAMPish episode so far (and also the one I enjoyed the most).

– WTF THE DOG IS WATANUKI WTFFFF! I could never have guessed @_@ I didn’t think CLAMP would put BLOOD-C into one of their universes! This changes everything. I wonder if it was another CLAMP character who asked Watanuki to grant their wish.

– Fight scenes look still a bit cheap but when they are not fighting the animation looks OK.

– I’m getting more excited about BLOOD-C, specially after this episode! It took long but things are looking much better now…

BLOOD-C #6

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here.

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– I think this episode took the show to a different emotional level. There were “deaths” of two important characters (I said “deaths” because I’m not sure this is real life they are living anymore). It put the show in a new level and the creatures look more dangerous now.

– No silly songs, yay =)

– Sometimes I still caught myself thinking that this looks nothing like a CLAMP work, I’m talking about the scene with the shadow creature, more precisely… must be the collaboration factor.

– What with Saya being Fumito’s most important person? (<- CLAMP factor here).

– So the dog thing finally spoke and told Saya to wake up. Is she livig a dream?

– We are halfway through the TV Series, 12 episodes are expected, and we have the movie, too.

BLOOD-C #5

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here.

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE FOOD THEY GIVE YOU SAYA! STOP EATING!

– The story told by the teacher… I wonder if any of the citizens is actually an Elder Bairn.

– Speaking of the Elder Bairns, can they get any more bizarre? That eye thing O__o

– By the way the fighting scene was so lame. BLOOD-C is so lame =__= I’m really struggling to like this anime.

We’re almost half-way through it, I will watch the remaining 7 episodes. Looks like the next one will air only on August 18?

CLAMP NEWS !!

So many news!!

• Comic:

Here is the cover of Kobato. #6:

I love it! I think it’s my favorite cover! It screams HAPPINESS =D

It will be released on August 26.

• Feature:

To celebrate the series’ conclusion, there is going to be a large feature in the upcoming Newtype issue (out 08/10). Also, information about a new CLAMP series will be announced in the same issue! A campaign will be followed as well (but I don’t know if the campaign will be related to Kobato. or the new series).

So excited about this new series! Could be the revival of an old series as well (it’s alright to hope!). I don’t think it’ll be running in Newtype, though. They will most likely make the announcement to hook all Kobato. readers into this new series. I think it’ll run in a different Kadokawa magazine. Anyway, it was about time for CLAMP to work on another manga apart from GATE 7!

Looking very much forward to thissss!

• Book:

Here is the cover of the XXXHOLiC POST CARD BOOK:

I REALLY liked it! Even though there is little CLAMP illustration on it, I loved the design! I wonder if it was designed by CLAMP…

This postcard book will have illustrations from the covers and title pages of all 19 volumes of XXXHOLiC. It will be released on September 6.

BLOOD-C DVD & Blu-ray:

The official BLOOD-C website has updated with the cover of the limited edition of the 1st DVD/Blu-ray. The jacket features a new illustration drawn by CLAMP!

It will be released on September 28.

The limited first editions of all 6 DVDs/Blu-rays will have jackets illustrated by CLAMP. Check out the release calendar for them at the CLAMP Widget at the top of my livejournal.

BLOOD-C Manga:

Here is a drawing + message by CLAMP that came with the 1st volume of the manga adaptation of BLOOD-C:

So nice! CLAMP could draw the entire BLOOD-C anime and I wouldn’t mind =)

Thanks syaoranmew for letting me know about this!

BLOOD-C in Newtype:

The upcoming Newtype issue (out 08/10) will be a BLOOD-C special issue.

The magazine will have:

– Cover illustration drawn by CLAMP;
– Special talk between director Tsutomu Mizushima and Nanase Ohkawa about the birth and future of BLOOD-C;
– Inside stories;
– Interview with Nana Mizuki (Saya’s seiyuu);
– After recording reports.

• Featuring CLAMP:

CLAMP drew an illustration and wrote comments for the current Young Magazine that is celebrating the 500th chapter of Fukumoto Nobuyuki’s gambling manga Kaiji:

• CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO:

Idol Nakagawa Shouko (aka Shouko-tan) has been added to the festival’s line up as a special guest.

BLOOD-C #4

I’ve been meaning to post this since Friday but LiveJournal was having problems, so here it is!

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here.

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– The thing that the creatures keep saying, about “honoring the covenant”, makes me wonder if it has something to do with the previous Blood series. In one of those flashes that Saya has, I’m pretty sure I saw a girl with braids that looks like the original Saya. But it could be this same Saya in a different time.

– I thought this episode’s script was poor. The scene where Saya falls from the tree… I mean, is this really Ohkawa writing here? So unoriginal.

– There must be something in that guimauve sweet!

– For a CLAMP series, there isn’t much clothes changing going on…

– More bizarre creatures *yawns*

– The teacher is saying the lyrics to Saya’s dull song? Freaky…

– Next episode: ghost stories. Looks like a filler. Boring.

Seriously, this series’ production looks very laid-back… or maybe I didn’t get the gist out of it yet.

BLOOD-C #3

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here (I was waiting for their release to make the post).

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– This episode was slightly more interesting the the previous two, I think the plot is starting to get a shape here…

– Food, food, food, this is CLAMP, after all (and the preview for episode 4 shows more food).

– They are giving too much attention to the fact that very little happens in the town, I think… and we don’t see much of the citizens either…

– The fact that Saya’s father can only drink weak coffee: suspicious. AND he wouldn’t eat the Guimauve thing…

– The Motome twins are so dramatic xD Love them!

– What’s with the hipster dog? xD

– The part with the baker was very sinister O___o Much more sinister than the bizarre creature that showed up later (seriously enough with the bizarre creatures!). Who else thought of Ueda? =D Thank god it wasn’t him, right? He didn’t deserve to die that way…

– I would like this series more if scenes like the one with the possessed baker happened more often.

– Out of the 3 episodes aired so far, this was the most interesting to watch, in my opinion, and that’s good because I had really bad impressions for the first 2 episodes.

BLOOD-C #2, more

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here (I was waiting for their release to make the post).

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– Seriously, Ohkawa, almost an entire episode about cute songs and food? BORINGGGG! Give me some PLOT!

– That cafe dude Fumito looks suspicious…

– The Motoe twins are adorable! They’re my favorite characters so far =)

– Their school uniform doesn’t match the school or the city at all. I mean, the uniform is very dark, with chains and dark colors, while the town looks bright and so peaceful… it looks rather off (why would such a school have such a uniform?)

– The town where the story takes place is weird, there is only one establishment for each thing and like they said, it looks abandoned. The fact that they mention that sort of thing makes it looks very suspicious, as if it’s a relevant information (otherwise there would be no need to mention it). It’s as if the town doesn’t exist for real…

– Bizarre creatures: SO unappealing. I wonder if the “C” in BLOOD-C stands for Creatures? Where are the vampires? O.o

• GATE 7:

CLAMP drew a new GATE 7 illustration for a poster that came with the debut issue of Shueisha’s semi-annual magazine JUMP SQ. LaB that went on sale on July 15:

I am getting strong X vibes from it! Loving all the belts!

• XXXHOLiC:

Kodansha has finally announced a release date for XXXHOLiC’s post card book. It was first slated for May, but a release date was never announced until now. The book will be called XXXHOLiC POST CARD BOOK and will be released on September 6. Price is still undecided.

An artbook for XXXHOLiC is also slated to be released soon but there’s no release date yet.
