Tsubaki Nekoi Twitter Space – June 04, 2021

DISCLAIMER: This Twitter Space session happened live on Tsubaki Nekoi’s official Twitter account and recordings were not made available anywhere after the transmission was over. The information available here was gathered in a collaborative effort from multiple reports and impressions from fans from all over the world who took notes as the session was happening live. Please be aware that this report may contain inaccuracies and is subject to corrections.

  • Ohkawa-sensei said that they deeply love even the worst villain character of their stories. So even if they may say things about Seishirou, for example, is just blabbering while drinking and should not be taken that seriously. Because if it’s gonna be taken that seriously, they won’t be able to continue with the spaces. It’s true they may have addressed Seishirou’s topic a little too much on the spaces though. But they don’t intend to talk bad things about him.
  • They asked fans for their favourites movies. The first one mentioned was Dune. And Mokona-sensei said she watched the movie first and then read the book
  • They also talked about an anime movie made in China, in which Tsubasa‘s Kamui’s voice actor worked (in the japanese dubbed version).
  • They said they’re going to address this kind of topics in the future (asking for favorites movies and recommendations)
  • Ohkawa-sensei said she likes John Wick and the latest movie rocks (literally said “yabai”)
  • Ohkawa-sensei added: Even if the author talks like this, we want to be judged about our works. Characters are born for those stories and when doing the spaces is just “CLAMP saying weird stuff” (implying to fans to please don’t matter that much about what they say at spaces since they’re just fooling).

A huge thank you to Claudio for providing skillful real-time translations.

Tsubaki Nekoi Twitter Space – May 31, 2021

  • They had a textile designer joining them, Riku Hozumi (Twitter/Instagram).
  • CLAMP asked about where her “CLAMP experience” started. She answered watching the Magic Knight Rayearth anime and then reading the manga and watching the anime of Card Captor Sakura. She said she likes the many sides (lit. many colours) it can be seen on CLAMP works. The many sides of people.
  • Ohkawa-sensei asked her favourite CLAMP work laughing that it must a question hard to answer when talking directly with the creators. Her favourite CLAMP work is XXXHOLiC. Because she thinks is a story filled with a lot of knowledge.
  • They asked the designer about her work, how she became a designer (whats advices would she give to people starting out), she even got to say/promote her designs online store.
  • Ohkawa-sensei: “When we were drawig HiGH & LOW, Exile Hiro [the producer] was supervising every piece of it so it was really hard. (…) In order to keep the world image of the series they were really exigent.”
  • Mokona-sensei: “Because we usually draw cats and cute little stuff.”
  • Ohkawa-sensei: “But they were asking why we draw this or that. We didn’t understand why some stuff were okay and other weren’t.”
  • Talk about Gouhou Drug/Drug & Drop and its many jewelry and accessories.
  • Ohkawa-sensei: “We like jewelry and such, so it is not an influence of HiGH & LOW that we included in Drug & Drop“.

  • This was the first time Tsubaki Nekoi-sensei made a twitter space on her twitter account. She was at the own house with Ohkawa-sensei and Igarashi-sensei. At one point, Mokona-sensei started listening from her own place.
  • The first part was an hour long segment about ghost stories.
  • The second part was a 38-minutes segment. Halfway through it, they were joined by Jun’ichi Fujisaku, one of the screenwriters for BLOOD-C.

Happy Birthday Tsubaki Nekoi!

Today is the birthday of CLAMP member Tsubaki Nekoi! She's turning 44 this year.

Here's wishing all the best to her! ♥

The other CLAMP members wished her a happy birthday on via twitter as well:

★【CLAMP】七瀬:寒月:もこな: 猫井ちゃん、お誕生日おめでとうございます! 今日は勿論、これからがもっと猫ちゃんにとって、素敵な毎日になりますように!

Also, the XXXHOLiC themed Cafe opened today in Shibuya, Tokyo. Check out some pictures here.

CLAMP designs Yui Sakai’s helmet, more

Japanese short track athlete Yui Sakai has posted over at her official blog pictures of a helmet with stickers designed by CLAMP (Tsubaki Nekoi).

In her blog entry, Sakai says she’s a huge CLAMP fan.

CLAMP has previously expressed their support for Sakai in last year’s Winter Olympic games in which she as competing by making a drawing of her.

In her Private Board, CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa wrote that she hopes the helmet will bring luck to Yui Sakai.

On a different note, slightly trivial, Satsuki Igarashi posted a picture in her Private Board of a t-shirt with a lotus flower designed by Mokona. Nanase Ohkawa asked if the t-shirt could be washed, for which Satsuki replied that yes, it can be washed because a special painting was used to draw it. Satsuki plans to wear the shirt during this winter. Here’s the picture of the t-shirt:

On yet a different note, the Tokyo Bridal Festa official website launched a special hot site to promote the wedding dress designed by CLAMP that will be shown at the two days’ event on the 23rd and 24th of December.

http://www.bridal-festa.com/clamp/index.html

There are no pictures yet, the wedding dress will be official revealed only during the event.

Who else thinks they are making a big deal over this? Hopefully this is only the beginning of the CLAMP BRIDAL project?

What’s in CLAMP’s bags?

As some of you might know, March 3rd is celebrated the Girl’s Day in Japan. CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa wrote a very curious describing what each CLAMP member carry inside their own bags. Some say that you can tell about a girl by knowing what’s inside her bag, right? So let’s find out!

I don’t know if some of you are interested in that sort of trivia info about our favorite mangaka group, but here it is:

Girl’s Day

Today is March 3, the Doll Festival.

Speaking of which, it’s said that if you look inside a girl’s bags, you’ll know how her room looks. From what’s inside the bag, you can know what things she has in her room.

I don’t know whether that’s quite true or not, at least for us.

Igarashi-san…inside her bag, which has a lot of patterns, there’s definitely a book and a box for “useful things.” It seems she always has them arranged, but though they’re necessary when they’re needed, it doesn’t seem like she brings them out that often.

Ohkawa-san…her bag is small. Fundamentally, there aren’t many things in it. But there are several books, and always her PC and such, so it’s not light.

Nekoi-san…it’s consistently arranged prettily, but the size of the bag changes from its original to bigger, depending on whether she has band-aids or medicine and such in it, and it’s pretty heavy.

Mokona-san…the bag itself is cute, but inside are various tools and devices, so it’s fundamentally chaotic. When she can’t bring out the things she needs, it’s because they’re missing in action inside it.

That’s it (laughs).

Translation heartily provided by starlady38 =)

It pretty much reflects each CLAMP member, I think. Satsuki, the group’s designer, has a bag full of patterns; Ohkawa, the writer, has a PC and books; Nekoi, the neat one (her booth is the most organized), has the most organized bag; Mokona, the cutest and messiest (her booth is the most cramped one xD), has the more chaotic one.

I found it pretty interesting XD Hope you liked it =)

CLAMP New Year’s Greetings

Traditionally, every year CLAMP and other japanese artists give their New Year’s Greetings by drawing something related to the correspondent animal of the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. According to the Chinese Zodiac, the year of 2011 is the year of the Rabbit, therefore Tsubaki Nekoi made an illustration of GATE7’s main character, Hana, with rabbit ears:

Satsuki Igarashi posted this picture of CLAMP’s cat, Kakyou, with rabbit ears:

All CLAMP members wished a happy new year =) Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi both mentioned that 2011 marks the beginning of CLAMP’s new work (GATE7) in a long time.

As for how they spent their holidays, they went back to Kyoto for another data collecting trip for GATE7 (pictures of their trip are available at this LiveJournal’s official twitter channel). They stayed in Kyoto during Christmas holidays, but returned to Tokyo in time for New Year’s.

CLAMP Travel Reports

As I reported previously, CLAMP members are on a trip to collect data for the upcoming work, Gate 7. Their first stop was the city of Ise (read report here), then they went to Kyoto. They are making real-time reports on their private boards and here are some of them, translation provided by Mia Lewis.

Rokusei Satei (http://www.rokusei.co.jp/rokuseisatei/index.html) [A souffle restaurant in Kyoto]

We’ve arrived in Kyoto.
We’re heading straight to Rokusei Satei. The souffle from the main course is no good for filming (I think it’s because it deflates too quickly), so we’ll be having the champagne we preordered.
I’m just itching with anticipation for that souffle (laughs).

Taking a Break

We went from Rokusei Satei through Heian Jingu Shrine, Yasaka Shrine, and came out at Kiyomizu Temple.
We did a lot of walking so we’re currently taking a break.
We’re having midarashi-dango, warabi-mochi, and weak macha at Baien-san.
You don’t often see midarashi-dango in Tokyo, so its the first time we’ve had them in a while. Its sweet and saltiness was delicious.

Kyoto Day 2

On our second day in Kyoto it rained a bit.
Even so, we strove on and made it Kitano-tenmangu Temple and the Temple of the Golden Pavilion.
We also went to the original Inoda Coffee.
Nekoi-chan is filming the Jumbo Chou a La Creme right in from of me.

This it Kyoto

Even though this is Kyoto Station, Sento-kun (http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/nhm_baby/imgs/8/c/8c272001.jpg) [Nara City’s mascot] is everywhere. (laughs) There was even a gigantic Sento-kun. [note: I assume this refers to a person dressed as the mascot.] I should have applauded and gotten it on film.

We Went to Sanjusan Gendo Temple

There were a lot of students on field trips.
It was noisy, but it went silent the instant the announcement was made to respect the temple and be quiet.
Japan’s youth are still far from being given up on.
Obedience is a virtue.

Today is the final day of the trip, they are coming back to Tokyo later. More reports to come!

Also, today is the 16th and there should be a CLAMP-NET.COM update. But there are no updates today. The website was updated on the 14th instead, launching its new menu. Have you checked it out? The major changes can be noticed in the “News” and “Serial” sections, which are now split.

“Serial” section now has more detailed information about the upcoming manga chapters, such as chapter numbers.

Sad news for those who liked them, but the english news are gone (they weren’t updated on a regular basis in any case).

No breaks scheduled for Kobato. and XXXHOLiC is back with Chapter 205 on June 9 in its new home magazine, Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Please refer to the CLAMP Widget for more upcoming releases.

Lastly, the official website of the XXXHOLiC Rou OAD posted a Mokona pattern that you can print and use on your own tumbler. The pattern is told to be similar to the one used by Kohane in the upcoming OAD.

Go to the website, pick your size and have fun with your drinks =)
