Nanase Ohkawa interview from Newtype #8 (Updated)

Here is the interview with Nanase Ohkawa that was published in this month’s issue of Newtype magazine, it also features a new Wish illustration:

It’s not really an interview since there is no interviewer, just Ohkawa talking about the anime ^^;

Credits for the scan goes to undini (thank you so much!), who also points some highlights from the interview:

– Kobato.’s world and Wish’s world is the same.
– When they were setting the plot for Ioryogi, from the beginning they thought that he did something in the world of Wish and because of that he became like this.
– They don’t know how many characters from Wish will appear in the Kobato. anime.
– Ohkawa says that Kohaku knows about Kobato and Ioryogi, but she doesn’t want to say anything else since it will be spoiling the anime.

EDIT: Allan Montenegro kindly translated the interview to portuguese and I retranslated it to english:

Two worlds connected

The worlds of “Kobato.” and “Wish” are the same!! In the end, there will probably be a lot of readers who cannot hide the surprise upon seeing this new fact! To start with, where the idea came from?

“When we first thought about Ioryogi’s creation, we thought about making a mysterious being coming from a world like the Heaven that we first described in “Wish”, for some reason, we thought about changing his appearance to the way it looks now. Since we decided that Ioryogi would appear, one could tell that both worlds were connected.”

With the animation of “Kobato.”, the two worlds will be more closely connected.

“It was a decision that came up during a meeting. We decided that to visually show the world of angels would be easier to understand to story. So, by making Kohaku appear, both stories become much more connected. Even so, in the end the title is still “Kobato.”. At the moment, it’s not clear how much Kohaku and the other “Wish” characters will appear (laughs). Besides, it is known that Kobato and Kohaku both sing very well, it would be very pleasant to make them sing.”

They are not just good at singing, in one way or another, Kobato and Kohaku have a lot in common. What kind of connection there is between them?

“If I tell you that, I would be spoiling a lot (laughs). However, it’s established in the anime version that Kohaku knows about Kobato and Ioryogi. The uncommon love that exists in the [Wish] manga is very strong, I think we won’t be able to develop Kohaku’s efforts [in the anime]. Upon watching the Ending, I thought “I’m so glad! It looks so cute!”, it looks good in the anime, very pleasant to watch. I hope you’ll like it.”

So the Ending animation is already done! And in the end it was an interview. A 3-questions long interview, but an interview nonetheless xD

Happy Birthday Nanase Ohkawa!

Today is the birthday of CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa! She’s turning 42 today.

Here’s wishing all the best to her! ♥

CLAMP NEWS !!

Mostly new chapter schedules.

Mid-April Edition

Ohkawa talks Holitsuba

The Message section of CLAMP-NET.COM is being updated randomly since its debut on April 1st.

Today Nanase Ohkawa posted a message about the script of the Holitsuba Drama CD that is planned for later this year:

Holitsuba

OAD prize script. The amount of twins is no longer increasing (laughs).

It is unclear to me, though, if that means there won’t be additional twins in this Drama CD or if this was the last addition (since this will probably be the last Holitsuba Drama CD).

The Holitsuba Drama CD is a special prize for those who purchase one of the two XXXHOLiC or Tsubasa OADs and is slated for September.

IN★POCKET preview

As reported previously, this month’s issue of Kodansha’s IN★POCKET magazine is out today in Japan and it carries a talk about mystery between Yoshiki Tanaka (Soryuuden’s author) and CLAMP (Nanase Ohkawa and Tsubaki Nekoi).

The magazine’s official website has a preview of the talk. Translations are, of course, welcomed =)

The talk is about their first contact with mystery and their favorite detective characters. It seems that Ohkawa read an adult’s book when she still a kid for the first time xD

In addition, the article carries a new “detective” illustration drawn by CLAMP.

Follow-up to CLAMP’s sickness follow-up

A week ago I made a post supposedly revealing which member of CLAMP was sick. By then we thought it was Tsubaki Nekoi but a reader has approached me to inform that there was a mistake in the translation.

I asked the original translator to take a look at the translation and indeed there was a mistake.

Around the same time, Nanase Ohkawa made a post in her Private Board clearly revealing that she was the one who got sick.

Just to clarify the “CLAMP’s sickness” subject once and for all, we apologize for any inconvenience =)

You can read the post where she talks about her illness after the cut.

CLAMP Fanbook Project, Ohkawa talks Holitsuba

There’s a project going on at to produce a fanbook in honor to CLAMP’s 20th Anniversary made by we, the fans.

The idea is to gather from all around the world fans’ letters, fanarts, fanfics, cosplay pictures and other forms of love expression to CLAMP and their works.

Once done, the book will be delivered to CLAMP’s hands.

It is a great initiative and excellent opportunity to say something and express your admiration to CLAMP!

Anyone can participate, I already joined the cause and in case you haven’t, please do it! It is our chance to show how big and loved CLAMP is around the world.

Instructions and guidelines on how to participate are all on this link.

Now, here’s the latest entry from Nanase Ohkawa’s private board, where she briefly mentions Holitsuba.

And on this first day of the new year, I bring CLAMP new year’s messages taken from their private boards.

From Ohkawa’s Private Board

This post has no news appeal, it is the latest entry Ohkawa wrote in her Private Board that I found very amusing and funny.

It’s not foreshadowing or revealing (who knows?) but I thought it was interesting to post xD
