BLOOD-C #1

The BLOOD-C TV Anime started its broadcast today in Japan. The first episode script was written in partnership between Nanase Ohkawa and Junichi Fujisaku. I believe all episodes will be written by the duo (and likely the movie script as well).

You can download the RAW torrent here and the subbed version here (by Underwater fansubs).

My first impressions are (spoilers ahead):

– I think Saya’s character is weird… is she genki? Is she dark? Somehow her genkiness doesn’t really fit in the “BLOOD” franchise to me. I never watched the other BLOOD works but I know it’s dark stuff. Maybe I’ll get used later xD

– That singing scene was completely random and unnecessary (the worst thing is that I think this was Ohkawa’s idea, I can so see her composing the lyrics. She is not Kobato, Ohkawa! xD)

– In fact, Saya’s “kindness” really annoys me, she can’t get on time for class because she is always doing good deeds on her way to school? C’mon… xD

– Animation quality was OK. It was watchable for me. (Much) Better than the XXXHOLiC anime, at least. Still don’t think PRODUCTION IG is good enough for CLAMP (or maybe they don’t want to be).

– The OP is very cool but it was a big mistake to choose that type and color for the credits. Also the episode title (dark red in black background? WTH!).

– It’s interesting to watch a CLAMP anime without really knowing what’s going to happen next =) It’s an unusual and exciting experience!

GATE 7, BLOOD-C news

I’ve been silent for this past week because I was in Chile (working xD), so I really didn’t have time to post this earlier, sorry about that! Let me sum up what I haven’t posted so far! =)

• GATE 7 #1 sales report

The first volume of GATE 7 landed at position 8 in Oricon’s weekly ranking on its first week of sales:

05/30/2010~06/05/2011

1st – Naruto #54
2nd – Bleach #50
3rd – Bakuman. #13
8th – GATE 7 #1

The first volume of GATE 7, released June 3rd (2 days before the end of this week’s ranking), scored a total of 93.210 copies sold, according to Oricon. Very good numbers. For comparison’s sake, the volumes of XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa sold around 190.000 copies in average on their debut weeks and the Kobato. volumes usually sell around 40.000 (or less) copies on their first week of sales.

However, it’s worth mentioning that GATE 7 was released in the middle of the ranking week, therefore it had very good numbers for only 3 days of sales. Let’s wait for the next week numbers to have a clearer idea.

Speaking of GATE 7, here’s the front and back cover of volume 1 (thanks for providing the scan):

The first volume also came with a poster featuring a new illustration:

• BLOOD-C:

Also, this week 2 new PVs of BLOOD-C were posted at the official website. In one of them you can listen to a preview of the OP theme song, performed by DUSTZ.

I really like the first one =) Less than a month now before the TV series starts.

• Trivia:

Not sure how important this “news” is but I thought I should share it xD CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa recently wrote in her Private Board that she’s been taking the other CLAMP members to her yoga classes. First she took Satsuki, then Nekoi and Mokona. Now all 4 CLAMP members are taking weekly yoga classes. You might all remember a while ago when Ohkawa mentioned her yoga teacher had a very healing voice and she wanted the anime version of Kobato to have the same healing voice as her.

I’ve been posting some less important news (similar to this one above) on my twitter and facebook accounts. Make sure to follow or check them from time to time to stay in touch =)

Blood-C to be made as both TV Series & Film

Breaking Blood-C news!

The official website for the CLAMP x Production IG original animation Blood-C has updated with information on staff and the announcement that apart from the previously announced TV Series, there is also a movie release planned for 2012.

The TV anime series will be directed by Tsutomu Mizushima (XXXHOLiC director) and CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa will be in charge of the series composition. Character Design will be done by Kazuya Kise (XXXHOLiC Rou, Adayume OADs).

There is a wallpaper present on the website featuring an illustration drawn by CLAMP that can be obtained by answering a quick poll. If you don’t want to answer to the poll and just want to see the wallpaper, here is the 1028×1024 pixels version.

An official twitter account for the project was launched as well.

Finally, there is a comment from CLAMP saying that they were shocked when Production IG approached them for the project (they said “EHH!” out loud xD). They are feeling very honored to be involved in this project.

The TV Anime will premiere in July on TBS.

I was hoping Nanase Ohkawa would be in charge of the series composition (and not just provide a rough plot line) but it’s nice to see a confirmation. I hope she gets to write a lot of scripts, including the movie’s!

The movie was quite of a shock to me, I wasn’t expecting it so soon. This is going to be huge!

Blood-C Official Website open

Just to let you all know that the official website of the Blood-C TV Anime is now open.

http://www.blood-c.jp/

There is nothing in it except for a flashy animation highlighting the CLAMP x Production IG collaboration.

CLAMP, I.G to Collaborate on Blood-C Original Anime

The May issue of Shonen Ace magazine is announcing that CLAMP will collaborate with Production IG on a new Blood original series called Blood-C, which will air this July.

According to ANN, CLAMP will be responsible for providing not only the original design concepts, but also the story.

Quoting ANN:

In addition, Ranmaru Kotone (Diasta of Ultima Thule, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo -Tokikake-) will adapt the project into a manga, which will launch in the July issue of Shōnen Ace. The official website for the project will open at the www.blood-c.jp address.

Two weeks ago CLAMP were eating pizza with Production IG’s staff, they were probably discussing about the project =)

I wonder if the C in the Blood-C title stands for “CLAMP”?

What caught my attention was the fact that CLAMP is not only providing the character design, but also the story, which makes this project the first original anime series by CLAMP. This is the first time they create the story for an original anime series. I wonder if Ohkawa will actually write some scripts or just provide the main plot…

I’m very excited about this! Yay for CLAMP exploring new territories =)

Stay tuned for more news!
