MOON SAGA press conference

A press conference to introduce the MOON SAGA project was held earlier today at Kodansha’s headquarters in Tokyo. The event was live-streamed by USTREAM and lasted for about 40 minutes.

GACKT himself attended the conference as well as a representative from Kodansha and other staff members. CLAMP members weren’t present but they left a message saying that they were very happy and looking forward to work in the project.

There wasn’t much new information revealed in it, GACKT mentioned he has known all of CLAMP’s works and feels a sense of “destiny” in them and that’s what attracted him to collaborate with them. He reafirmed the intention of bringing the stage play into manga, anime and game adaptations and hopes that the project will reach an international range.

A manga adaptation is expected to run in a Kodansha magazine. Although so far it hasn’t been confirmed, let’s all hope that CLAMP will be in charge of drawing this manga series.

Speaking of which, ANN reports that a stage play adaptation for Code Geass has been decided for April 2012:

The official website for Sunrise’s Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series announced on Monday that a stage play adaptation has been green-lit. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Sōran Eve Matsuri (Riot’s Eve Festival) will run for 13 performances at the Mozart Hall at Tokyo’s Katsuhika Symphony Hills from April 7 to April 16. More details and advance ticket pre-orders will be available on December 25.

Several News

• Rio Comicon:

The convention Rio Comicon starts today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the exhibition CLAMP – As Rainhas do Mangá (CLAMP – The Queens of Manga) will take place until Sunday. This is the same exhibition that was originally held in Paris in 2009.

Tickets cost R$ 20,00 for each day at the event’s entrance (students pay half price). Check their official website for more info.

I will be there on Saturday, hope to meet some of you there! 😉

• Kobato. licensed in Brazil:

The Kobato. manga has been licensed in Brazil by JBC. The manga will be published every 3 months starting in October. The price will be R$ 10,90 for a full tankoubon format (unlike Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC), but no color pages.

This is the 10th CLAMP title to be published in Brazil, and they remain being the only manga authors with that many titles licensed in the country.

Here’s the cover for the Brazilian edition:

Also, the Card Captor Sakura manga, which was the first CLAMP title published in Brazil, will be re-released by JBC in a special edition still this year. The new release will be in full tankoubon format (unlike the original edition) and will have color pages. Release date and price are still undecided.

• Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito:

It was announced in this year’s New York Anime Fest that the new Code Geass project, Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito, will be released next year. CLAMP is in charge of the original character concept for this project as well.

The Code Geass and R2 seasons will be re-released in a new DVD Box early next year and an exclusive promotional video of Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito will come with it.

• BLOOD-C:

The official website of BLOOD-C has the 2nd DVD and Blu-Ray cover, which was drawn by CLAMP.

It will be released on October 26.

CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 Report (Updated)

The two-day event CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 took place in Ikebukuro (Tokyo) this weekend, on the second day, the XXXHOLiC Rou Adayume OAD had its first screening and a CLAMP Talk Show was held. There are several reports spread around the internet from the people who managed to go.

Here is a summary of the highlights of both days (mild XXXHOLiC manga and OAD spoilers alert).

– Looks like a Yuuko Blythe doll was announced (not sure if it’ll be released in the future);
– Apart from original color art and manuscript, GATE 7 character settings were exposed;
– GATE 7 color illustrations are a mix of analog and digital drawing techniques. CG is used for final touches (as I thought);
– XXXHOLiC Rou Adayume OAD’s length is 20 minutes (Update: this source says 30 minutes or more).
– Looks like the OAD ends in a cliffhanger…

CLAMP Talk Show:

– The final chapter of XXXHOLiC manga readers will feel either “surprised” or “relieved”;
– XXXHOLiC artbook announcement;
– The editors of Jump SQ joined as guests to talk about GATE 7;
– CLAMP are not used to draw GATE 7 yet (because it’s a new work);
– The most difficult one seems to be Chikahito. Hana is the easiest;
Code Geass talk. CLAMP’s original concepts for Boukoku no Akito were shown.

Nice to have the XXXHOLiC artbook finally announcement!

Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito website opens

The official website of Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito is now open: http://www.geass.jp/akito/

It is worth mentioning that the title Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito is still a tentative title.

Is it just me who thinks the designs don’t look very CLAMPy?

First look at Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito, GATE7 news

This month’s issue of Newtype magazine will reveal the first official image of Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito:

The image features characters Hyuga Akito, who works for EU army, and his boss, Layla. More info can be found at this Code Geass community.

CLAMP is once again in charge for drawing the character designs concepts for the project.

Less than a month away for the official start of GATE7, the official website of JUMP SQ magazine informs that the first chapter will have 43 pages with color page(s). Plus, GATE7 will feature the magazine’s cover and an original good will be given away to 500 readers to celebrate the beginning of the serialization (more details on the next JUMP SQ issue).

It starts in the next issue of JUMP SQ, on sale February 4!

Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito hotsite launched, Newtype article

A hotsite for the new Code Geass animation project Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito has been launched.

The hotside doesn’t have much new information, it possibly has the same contents published in this month’s Newtype magazine (see scan below).

Both hotsite and Newtype point out that the title Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito is a tentative title, which may or may not change.

Here is an article from this month’s Newtype magazine, provided by Aurelia:

Click to enlarge it.

The characters in the article are Renya (from the Code Geass manga adaptation Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya) and Lelouch. Doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be in the new anime project.

The format or release date for Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito have not yet been revealed.

CLAMP to do Character Design for new Code Geass anime

The video release of the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Kiseki no Birthday event (a Code Geass event that originally took place in December, 2009) is announcing a new anime project called Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito (コードギアス GAIDEN 亡国のアキト). The video of the event will be officially released tomorrow in DVD, Blu-Ray and UMD.

Several sources are reporting that CLAMP will be once again in charge of doing the character design concept for this new project, including AnimeVice. Most of the original staff who worked in Code Geass and R2 will be back for this new anime.

It is still unsure what format (TV Anime, OVA, Movie, etc) this new project will take.

Apparently the story takes place in Europe, 7 years after the beginning of the series. Update: The story takes place in a.t.b. 2017. I said “7 years after the beginning of the series” because I considered the first scene of the series, which is a flashback from 2010 when Lelouch and Suzaku were still kids. Sorry for not being clear! =/

More information should come soon since the video where this project was announced will be properly released tomorrow in Japan.

That’s very exciting news! I really like CLAMP’s involvement in Code Geass, it has brought so many good things in the past, I’m looking forward to what’s coming next.

Follow-up: New Code Geass Project in 2010

The January issue of Newtype magazine will announce that Code Geass will get a manga adaptation to be serialized in Kadokawa’s monthly shonen magazine Shounen Ace. The manga will be drawn by Tomomasa Takuma.

This is part of the new Code Geass project that is planned for 2010, first announced during the Kiseki no Tanjoubi event (more info here).

The new project will also feature new music, products and visual works of the Code Geass franchise.

So far there won’t be any direct CLAMP involvement in this new project, except that they will remain being credited for being the franchise’s original character designers.

AnimeNewsNetwork has more information about the upcoming new releases of Code Geass.

And here is something cool to share. A reader e-mailed me with this drawing that CLAMP did for the wedding of Mika Kikuchi and Yuuji Kishi (Mokona and Fuuma’s seiyuus in Tsubasa). You might remember when I posted about their engagement a few months ago.

The wedding took place on December 4 and here is the drawing that CLAMP did for the occasion:

I knew they would draw Mokona marrying Fuuma xD

Also, Nanase Ohkawa attended the ceremony and here she is making a toast for the couple:

For more pictures of the ceremony, check this link.

New Code Geass Project in 2010 (Updated)

Sunrise announced at the event “Kiseki no Tanjoubi” that Code Geass will have a new project in 2010. The event was held this Saturday in Japan to celebrate the birthday of the character Lelouch.

It is still not known whether it will be a new TV series, a movie or an OVA series, or even if CLAMP will be involved. More information should be announced in 2010. Stay tuned!

The text in the image above reads:

More Kobato. cast members announced! (Updated)

This month’s Newtype magazine will announce more cast members from the Kobato. TV anime. Even though the magazine is only officially out on the 10th, the information has already leaked through the japanese board 2ch.

Kohaku: Chiwa Saitou
Kiyokazu Fujimoto: Tomoaki Maeno
Sayaka Okiura: Fumiko Orikasa
Chitose Mihara: Houko Kawashima
Kazuto Okiura: Shinichiro Miki

Fujimoto’s seiyuu looks like a newcomer, like Kobato’s seiyuu. The seiyuus of Sayaka, Chitose and the Debt Collector, on the other hand, are all long-time professionals. I was surprised with Chitose’s seiyuu, she did Satsuki in X and Minoru in Chobits, and they are both pretty “down” characters, not “kind” as I imagine Chitose to be… hummm, we’ll see.

Oh and we got to know the Debt Collector’s first name, it’s Kazuto! =D And I’m very happy with the seiyuu choice, Shinichiro Miki is perfect!

The Kobato. anime will start on October 6 (just one month away!)

And this is a preview for the next issue of Newtype, which will be celebrating the debut of the Kobato. TV Anime with lots of CLAMP features:

Thanks for the picture!

The preview says:

– Cover will be drawn by CLAMP;
– More information about the Kobato. anime;
– “Big news” regarding Code Geass R2;
– Trading cards giveaway that they are calling “CLAMP TRUMP”.

Lots of things to look forward to in the next Newtype issue, huh? The magazine will be on sale October 10.

Update: The official website of Kobato. TV Anime has a new illustration on its homepage, you can check the full illustration in high quality in this link (thanks shiro_han for letting me know about it!)
