Episode 2 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

This episode’s topic was Magic Knight Rayearth!

  • memories from the time it was serialized in Nakayoshi.
  • the time Ohkawa and Nekoi were guests at a radio show where Shouko Nakagawa was one of the MCs (hostess) and she was a fan of Rayearth, particularly of Umi.
  • apparently at one point a live action CM for Rayearth was filmed? The Sega Saturn game live action CM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxN37elPpP0)
  • The Rayearth trump.
  • Mokona talks about making the storyboard for the TV Anime Series opening.

As usual, if anyone would like to share their thoughts about what they talked about, that would be highly appreciated, even a brief summary would help!

It seems like each week they will pick one of their works to talk about — which is great! They asked listeners to send their suggestions for the upcoming weeks. I can’t wait for they to talk about X ^^”

They were right, so far I am enjoying these more than their 2007-2008 internet radio, Komugikotoride no Yonshimin (from CLAMP-PLA.NET), in which they rarely talked about their works.

CLAMP’s weekly radio show on KBS Kyoto radio station launched today in Japan.

I was able to capture the audio, you can download today’s episode below:

CLAMPの京都上ル下ル #1 – 2015/10/01 (right click -> save target as).

On this episode, they talked about CLAMP a group (main activities, current works, early days), moving to Kyoto, CLAMP IN WONDERLAND (they played Anata Dake no Wonderland at the end).

As usual, if anyone would like to share their thoughts about what they talked about, specially the part about moving to Kyoto, that would be highly appreciated, even a brief summary would help!

The show will be available as podcast download later today. We will be able to tell if there are any differences between my recording and the official podcast. If there aren’t any differences, I will no longer record these weekly. If there are any substantial differences (I don’t believe so), then I will keep recording.

Make sure to check out the show’s hotsite that was launched earlier this week.

It’s really nice to listen to the ladies! I’m so glad I’ll be able to hear them every week now =)

Update: The podcast version is up. It has essentially the same contents except for the song “Anata Dake no Wonderland” that has been cut — probably because they don’t have the rights to distribute the song on the internet. Therefore, there is no need for me to record these on a weekly basis given that the podcast is pretty much the same thing. That being said, I will still post and comment about each episode weekly.

CLAMP to host regular radio show on KBS Kyoto Radio

© CLAMP・ShigatsuTsuitachi CO.,LTD.

Starting October 1st, CLAMP will host a regular radio show that will be broadcast in KBS Kyoto Radio.

CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru (CLAMPの京都上ル下ル, roughly translated as CLAMP Up and Down in Kyoto) will air every Thursday from 21:30~22:00, Japan time.

In the show, CLAMP will talk freely about Kyoto, manga, anime and other subjects of their interest. Guests, such as voice actors, are also expected.

Sadly, KBS Kyoto Radio only airs in Japan (of course) within a limited area. It is possible to listen online through radiko but once again, access is restricted within the Japanese territory. Even if you use an online proxy server to access it, you would have to use one within the area of broadcast otherwise it won’t be available either.

If anyone has any suggestions of how we could listen to this show, please let me know!

CLAMP’s New Year

First of all, Happy New Year to all CLAMP followers out there! This is coming a little late since I was out during holidays — apologies for that!

Thank you for following this site and its social network channels. I am committed to continue bringing you all the latest and freshest CLAMP news throughout 2015.

As it has became usual for the past few years, CLAMP drew an illustration to celebrate the arrival of 2015.

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD.

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD.

The image was posted on CLAMP’s official website and twitter account and features sheeps in the background because 2015 is the year of the sheep in the Chinese zodiac horoscope.

Along with the illustration, each CLAMP member described the year of 2014 with one word and chose a word to describe their hopes and ambitions for 2015.

Satsuki Igarashi

2014: (a little bit of) progress
2015: forward

Nanase Ohkawa

2014: arrangement
2015: victory

Tsubaki Nekoi

2014: surf
2015: quick

Mokona

2014: change
2015: travel

It is interesting to see their one-word impressions of 2014 and hopes for 2015.

For sure, 2014 was yet another calm year for CLAMP — like 2013 and 2012. XXXHOLiC and Drug & Drop had very slow publishing schedules, filled with breaks until they both eventually went on definitive breaks when Tsubasa returned, in August. Not to mention GATE 7 that originally went on hiatus in 2013. In the midst of travels for both business and pleasure purposes, CLAMP moved to Kyoto after living in Tokyo since their professional debut in 1989.

After working for nearly 25 years non-stop and having their health compromised for overwork, CLAMP are definitely taking things slow. They are not as young as their used to be and they need to be careful if they want to keep working for many more years. That being said, even though GATE 7 is officially on hiatus, they still keep making location hunts trips within Kyoto to gather enough material to resume the series in the near future (that might also be the reason as of why they decided to move to Kyoto permanently).

Also during the end of the year holidays, CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa created an account on instagram: 7se_ohkawa. Make sure to follow her as she posts some nice photos such as this neat illustration of Hana.

Here’s to a CLAMP-filled 2015!

CLAMP members to attend CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 Nagoya

The Osaka edition of the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 has ended a few hours ago in Japan, at Zepp Namba hall.

Shortly after, CLAMP-NET.COM posted a message from CLAMP saying that they will be attending the Nagoya edition of the festival, which will take place on December 2.

CLAMP’s message says that they weren’t able to attend to the Tokyo and Osaka editions due to the medical treatment that they are going under, but their doctor has given them permission to attend the Nagoya edition.

It will be the last edition of CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 and the first time that CLAMP members make an appearance in the festival.

It’s the first time in a good while since CLAMP made a public appearance. Last time was during a very small signing session for the B2・HOLiC Blythe release, in September 2011, and before that, at the CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011, in February of the same year.

In their message, CLAMP remarks the fact that they are still under medical treatment, which would explain all the recent breaks in their publications.

I’m really glad that they will be attending! I always love when CLAMP makes public appearances. I always thought it was the weirdest thing to have a CLAMP FESTIVAL while CLAMP members themselves were not there…

Looking forward to this!

Open letter from CLAMP

Today CLAMP-NET.COM posted an open letter from CLAMP regarding health issues with one of the members.

The letter states that one of the CLAMP members has been recently diagnosed with lumbar compression fracture due to sitting on chair for many hours straight with no resting time.

The doctor advised 6 months of rest, otherwise dealing with the pain may become a much more difficult task later.

The members of CLAMP are aware that following that advise will prove to be a very difficult task giving to the fact of currently having two manga series on-going and other projects in development. They thought deeply on the subject and decided to take the treatment seriously. Therefore, there might be a decrease in the page rate of their current works and some side-projects might be put on hold, all so that they can focus on treatment.

They apologize their publishers, readers and those involved in their side-projects and ask for everyone’s comprehension.

They finish the letter with a warning for everybody to look after their health during work tasks.

(I think the text also mentions that another member has been recently diagnosed with a hip fracture, which prevents her from spending too much time in front of the computer, but I am not absolutely sure of this one).

I sincerely hope that they get a safe and fast recovery. I think we can expect some breaks in the current series and a decrease in number of pages per chapter. The first half of the next year may turn out to be quieter than usual.

Let’s hope for the best.

CLAMP enters Amazon.co.jp “Hall of Fame”

On November 1st, online store Amazon.co.jp celebrated its 10th Anniversary and the 4 members of CLAMP attended the party.

The event was held to announce Amazon.co.jp’s “Hall of Fame” and CLAMP was nominated in the comic artists category. The artists were chosen based on sales and customers’ reviews.

Here are some pictures from the event (click to enlarge them):

In the pictures above, CLAMP members appear along with Amazon.co.jp president Jasper Zhang (front left) and manga creators Ken Akamatsu (Negima!, Love Hina), Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Akagi, Washizu) and Norifusa Mita (Dragon Zakura).

Here is the video of the ceremony with CLAMP accepting the award:

You can check the complete Amazon.co.jp “Hall of Fame” list here.

In a not-so-unrelated note, today marks 10 years since I became a CLAMP fan/follower. 10 years ago the 1st episode of the CCS anime premiered on Brazilian Cartoon Network and the journey began! CLAMP enters Amazon.co.jp Hall of Fame on the same day I celebrate 10 years of knowning them. Cool coincidence, huh? =)

CLAMP attends Blythe exhibit

The members of CLAMP attended the opening ceremony of the Blythe exhibition and charity event, which took place June 25 at Omotesando Hills, Tokyo, Japan. Here is a picture of CLAMP and the creative director of Blythe, Junko Wong:

CLAMP interview from Me & My Blythe vol. 2

While we are in the subject of Blythe dolls, in February of this year was announced that a CLAMP article/interview would be published in the “Me & My Blythe vol. 2” book.

My Brazilian friend blaize_chan was kind enough to share pictures of the article and transcribe the interview with CLAMP (which can be checked below, after the cut!). Many thanks to her!

CLAMP in Paris: Pictures and Videos (Updated)

This post in an attempt to gather the pictures and videos that I have made while I was in Paris and also the material that appeared on the internet. There are some contributions too from some kind people that I met there who shared their pictures and videos with me.

If you have pictures and videos and would like to share, I would love to have them so please feel free to do it ^^

I tried to make the post as organized as possible, but it might look a bit confusing xD I have separated the material by dates and one for the local press. Furthermore, I’ve separated each of them in picture galleries and videos.

The videos are in several formats: AVI, MPG, MOV and FLV. You might need a special player or codec to play them correctly.

The first video is from their first signing session and the second video is the moment where CLAMP announced the contest’s extra winners (the ones to whom they gave their Ioryogi plush toy). The second video is too big so I had to upload it on MegaUpload.

This interview was made by the french press agency AFP in the backstage of Japan Expo. There is one version in french and one in english. The french version has more footage than the english one.

I’ve ripped the videos and uploaded them to my server (in case anyone would like to keep them forever ^^).
