BLOOD-C #2, more

RAW version available here | Subbed version by Underwater fansubs available here (I was waiting for their release to make the post).

Impressions (spoilers ahead):

– Seriously, Ohkawa, almost an entire episode about cute songs and food? BORINGGGG! Give me some PLOT!

– That cafe dude Fumito looks suspicious…

– The Motoe twins are adorable! They’re my favorite characters so far =)

– Their school uniform doesn’t match the school or the city at all. I mean, the uniform is very dark, with chains and dark colors, while the town looks bright and so peaceful… it looks rather off (why would such a school have such a uniform?)

– The town where the story takes place is weird, there is only one establishment for each thing and like they said, it looks abandoned. The fact that they mention that sort of thing makes it looks very suspicious, as if it’s a relevant information (otherwise there would be no need to mention it). It’s as if the town doesn’t exist for real…

– Bizarre creatures: SO unappealing. I wonder if the “C” in BLOOD-C stands for Creatures? Where are the vampires? O.o

• GATE 7:

CLAMP drew a new GATE 7 illustration for a poster that came with the debut issue of Shueisha’s semi-annual magazine JUMP SQ. LaB that went on sale on July 15:

Image source: comic natalie.

I am getting strong X vibes from it! Loving all the belts!

• XXXHOLiC:

Kodansha has finally announced a release date for XXXHOLiC’s post card book. It was first slated for May, but a release date was never announced until now. The book will be called XXXHOLiC POST CARD BOOK and will be released on September 6. Price is still undecided.

An artbook for XXXHOLiC is also slated to be released soon but there’s no release date yet.

GATE 7, BLOOD-C news

I’ve been silent for this past week because I was in Chile (working xD), so I really didn’t have time to post this earlier, sorry about that! Let me sum up what I haven’t posted so far! =)

• GATE 7 #1 sales report

The first volume of GATE 7 landed at position 8 in Oricon’s weekly ranking on its first week of sales:

05/30/2010~06/05/2011

1st – Naruto #54
2nd – Bleach #50
3rd – Bakuman. #13
8th – GATE 7 #1

The first volume of GATE 7, released June 3rd (2 days before the end of this week’s ranking), scored a total of 93.210 copies sold, according to Oricon. Very good numbers. For comparison’s sake, the volumes of XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa sold around 190.000 copies in average on their debut weeks and the Kobato. volumes usually sell around 40.000 (or less) copies on their first week of sales.

However, it’s worth mentioning that GATE 7 was released in the middle of the ranking week, therefore it had very good numbers for only 3 days of sales. Let’s wait for the next week numbers to have a clearer idea.

Speaking of GATE 7, here’s the front and back cover of volume 1 (thanks for providing the scan):

Click to download it.

The first volume also came with a poster featuring a new illustration:

• BLOOD-C:

Also, this week 2 new PVs of BLOOD-C were posted at the official website. In one of them you can listen to a preview of the OP theme song, performed by DUSTZ.

I really like the first one =) Less than a month now before the TV series starts.

• Trivia:

Not sure how important this “news” is but I thought I should share it xD CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa recently wrote in her Private Board that she’s been taking the other CLAMP members to her yoga classes. First she took Satsuki, then Nekoi and Mokona. Now all 4 CLAMP members are taking weekly yoga classes. You might all remember a while ago when Ohkawa mentioned her yoga teacher had a very healing voice and she wanted the anime version of Kobato to have the same healing voice as her.

I’ve been posting some less important news (similar to this one above) on my twitter and facebook accounts. Make sure to follow or check them from time to time to stay in touch =)

I am able to get only the “blog parts”, which are the clocks that can be added to your personal website or blog.

Digital Version:

Here is the code that you must copy and paste in your blog/website in order to have it:

<script src=”http://www.clamp-net.com/js/blogparts.js&#8221; language=”javascript”></script><script language=”javascript”>inBlogparts(‘gate_degital1105’);</script>

<script src=”http://www.clamp-net.com/js/blogparts.js&#8221; language=”javascript”></script><script language=”javascript”>inBlogparts(‘gate_analog1105’);</script>

Can anyone try to extract the image from the flash file? I wonder if that is the cover illustration of volume 1…? Seems like the size of the source images are the same size as the ones you see above.

• Charity:

The Card Captor Sakura Blythe doll designed by CLAMP last year will be put up for charity at website Crown Jewel from the period of June 1st to 15th. All funds will be given to Japan’s Red Cross to help the victims of the Touhouku Earthquake and Tsunami.

• Card Captor Sakura:

Bandai Visual launched a hotsite for the release of the Card Captor Sakura movies in Blu-Ray. Somebody please correct that banner at the bottom of the page, it says CLMAP Official Website! XD

On other news, today is the birthday of CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa (my favorite CLAMP member ♥)! She’s turning 44 today.

Here’s wishing all the best to her! ♥

They all had dinner at Ohkawa’s house to celebrate.

This time Nekoi hasn’t made any drawings =/

Update: a little late but Nekoi posted the drawing! =D

As usual I am impressed by Nekoi’s skills to draw CLAMP members xD

GATE 7 #1 in Japan and around the world!

CLAMP-NET.COM announced that the first volume of GATE 7 will be released in Japan on June 3 costing 460 yens.

Also, looks like the international release plans for GATE 7 are finally taking shape. CLAMP-NET.COM posted a list of countries where GATE 7 will be published on a semi-simultaneous way.

I’ll be reposting here the info from clamp_now, which translates what CLAMP’s official website says:

Countries where it is serialized in a magazine:

South Korea
* “Booking” Magazine (Tsuruyama Culture Company)
* December 2010 (Prologue)
* Series start in April 2011

Taiwan
* 新少年快報別冊 Magazine (東立出版)
* January 2011 (Prologue)
* Series start in April 2011

Hong Kong
* 新少年 Magazine (香港東立出版社)
* Series start in April 2011

France
* Animeland Magazine (Anime Manga Presse)
* December 2010 (Prologue)
* March-June 2011 limited time series

Tankoubon publication (released summer 2011)

South Korea (鶴山文化社)
Taiwan (東立出版社)
Hong Kong (香港東立出版社)
France (Viz Media Europe)
United States (Dark Horse Comics)
Brazil (New Pop)
Germany (EMA)
Spain (NORMA Editorial)

(Information as of April 2011)

Very happy to see this coming to life! It won’t be as simultaneous in the US as first announced by Dark Horse, it seems like they will be publishing the tankoubons only, shortly after the original Japanese release date, at least. But countries like South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong will be publishing the manga in series format (followed by a tankoubon release). I don’t understand France’s case… will the serialization happen for a limited time only? Until Chapter 3? After that, only tankoubon releases? It’s not clear for me.

As a Brazilian, I’m very happy and proud (and a bit surprised) to see that Brazil is on the list! I’m also surprised, however, that for the first time a CLAMP title will not be published by JBC, but New Pop instead. I don’t know New Pop’s work, what do my fellow Brazilian readers have to say about them?

The tankoubon releases are all planned for summer 2011, which is pretty shortly after the Japanese release date (June 3). Let’s hope they stick to this calendar =)
