CLAMP to draw for new novel series “Haken Anime!”

CLAMP will be in charge for drawing the illustrations for Mizuki Tsujimura’s new novel series entitled “Haken Anime!”.

The series will run in the weekly magazine an・an, published by Magazine House, starting on the October 31 issue. The magazine goes on sale every Wednesday.

Mizuki Tsujimura won the 147th Naoki Prize with her novel “Dreaming Without a Key”, a collection of short stories.

Great news! I very much look forward to check the illustrations. Always nice to see CLAMP collaborating with new authors, specially female authors.

MOON SAGA: first reports (updated)

The first two presentations of MOON SAGA kicked off yesterday in Tokyo and the first reports are starting to appear on the web.

I was hoping there would be some announcement for related side-projects that would involve CLAMP, but apparently there were none. I was also hoping CLAMP would draw more promotional illustrations and goods, but there were also none of that.

From the reports I’ve read, it looks like CLAMP provided some illustrations that appear in the screen during the play. It looks like most of the animation shown on screen were CG.

CLAMP sent flowers to GACKT, as well as PYROTECHNIST, the company which manages CLAMP’s business affairs and is involved in the making of MOON SAGA.

Here’s a report from the Japanese press and another, more detailed one from a GACKT fan, this one is in french (but you can use your Google translator to read it =D).

I must confess I’m very disappointed with this project. I’m sure the play experience must be great, but as a CLAMP fan, I was hoping for more involvement on their part (and I don’t know who is to be blamed on this, in fact I don’t even know if someone is to be blamed at all). Maybe I put too much expectation into it…

UPDATE: Here’s another detailed report in english (includes the plot). The end of the play displayed a “To Be Continued” message. There will be probably sequels, which would explain the title “MOON SAGA”.

CLAMP x momoko original doll rough design revealed!

As previously announced, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of momoko, CLAMP were invited to collaborate with an original fashion doll for them.

A rough sketch of the doll designed by CLAMP was revealed today!

The doll will be officially called PW-momoko ae , orders will begin in August to be delivered in Spring 2013.

I really liked it! I was expecting a more “cute” design, but this looks so elegant!

MOON SAGA TV CM

Check out the CM for GACKT and CLAMP’s stage play “MOON SAGA”!

Seems like all the attention is focused on GACKT, though =/ (CLAMP is way too small on the credits LOL).

The first installment will premiere on July 15.

CLAMP to design original “momoko” doll

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of PetWORKs’ line of dolls momoko, CLAMP will collaborate with them by designing original “momoko” dolls. The sales are scheduled for 2012.

About momoko:

“momoko” is a one-sixth scale fashion doll (27 cm tall with moveable joints) that was unveiled in August 2001 at “DOLLHEAD EXHIBITION 2001”.
She was designed under the supervision of Namie Manabe, the art director for the internet mail software “PostPet” and a lover of fashion dolls.
Popularity of “momoko” has been spreading beyond doll collectors, and besides, she has been well accepted in general young women as a fashion item, also as an art piece.
“momoko” has worked as a fashion model for real fashion brands, and has modeled for a variety of ads.
In April 2005 she made a major debut as “momoko DOLL”, manufactured and released by Sekiguchi Co Ltd., a famous doll company.

This is the second time CLAMP collaborates with PetWORKs. In 1998 they designed a room for the PostPet2001 CD-ROM software. Here’s the room designed by CLAMP:

MOON SAGA press conference

A press conference to introduce the MOON SAGA project was held earlier today at Kodansha’s headquarters in Tokyo. The event was live-streamed by USTREAM and lasted for about 40 minutes.

GACKT himself attended the conference as well as a representative from Kodansha and other staff members. CLAMP members weren’t present but they left a message saying that they were very happy and looking forward to work in the project.

There wasn’t much new information revealed in it, GACKT mentioned he has known all of CLAMP’s works and feels a sense of “destiny” in them and that’s what attracted him to collaborate with them. He reafirmed the intention of bringing the stage play into manga, anime and game adaptations and hopes that the project will reach an international range.

A manga adaptation is expected to run in a Kodansha magazine. Although so far it hasn’t been confirmed, let’s all hope that CLAMP will be in charge of drawing this manga series.

Speaking of which, ANN reports that a stage play adaptation for Code Geass has been decided for April 2012:

The official website for Sunrise’s Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime series announced on Monday that a stage play adaptation has been green-lit. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Sōran Eve Matsuri (Riot’s Eve Festival) will run for 13 performances at the Mozart Hall at Tokyo’s Katsuhika Symphony Hills from April 7 to April 16. More details and advance ticket pre-orders will be available on December 25.

CLAMP NEWS !!

• Artbook:

Already posted this over at twitter but in case anyone doesn’t know yet, the Kobato. artbook release date has been postponed to October 19.

– Next scheduled chapters (red means new):

09/04 – Jump SQ #10 – Chapter 7 – Last chapter of tankoubon 2 (on sale).
10/04 – Jump SQ #11 – Chapter 8 – Beginning of tankoubon 3.
11/04 – Jump SQ #12 – Chapter 9 – Color page(s), GATE 7 will feature the front cover.

CLAMP-NET.COM also mentions a “comic cover replacement” (特別付録 コミックス替えカバー) in Jump SQ #12. Maybe an additional cover for volume 1? Not really sure of what that means…

• Comics:

GATE 7 #2 is coming out on November 4.

• BLOOD-C:

The BLOOD-C TV Anime ended its main broadcast on TBS channel with 12 episodes. The movie will be released on June 6, 2012 with the same staff and cast .

I really liked the final episode, in fact the final 2 episodes were good and a lot better than the rest. I wish that instead of dragging the plot for 10 whole episodes they could have worked better in building tension for the big revelations, in other words, I think the series’ composition was flawed (and CLAMP’s Ohkawa was in charge of that). The episodes were too repetitive, always following the same formula. I’m glad the mood changed in the final episode, I hope the movie will follow the same atmosphere. The animation was overall very poor, characters were too shallow and creatures too bizarre. I’ll give a 3/10 rate for this since I wasn’t hooked by most of it.

• The Witch’s Mansion and the Magic Summit::

Here is the cover for The Witch’s Mansion and the Magic Summit, CLAMP drew the cover and inside illustrations.

The book is coming out on October 9. You can play a puzzle with the cover illustration here.

CLAMP FESTIVAL original goods!

The official website for the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO updated its Goods corner with information about the merchandise that will be sold at the event.

The original goods are:

A – Festival’s official guide book. Cover by CLAMP, with introduction to CLAMP’s works and interviews with the artists. 100 pages, it comes with a bag.
B – T-shirt.
C – Towel.
D – Cell phone strap.
E – Fan.
F – Mokona cookies.
G – Wristbands.
H – Keychains.

Other non-original goods will be sold at the event as well. To check the full goods list, go to CLAMP FESTIVAL’s official website.

Needless to say that my favorite is the guidebook with a new crossover art by CLAMP. It has a circus motif, I can’t wait to see a bigger version of it =) Looks like they drew all of their characters according to the festival’s line-up, like having 3 “Chiis” (the Chii from Chobits played by Rie Tanaka and the twins from Kobato. played by Megumi Nakashima, both part of the festival’s line-up). Saya is there too, and Kazahaya and Rikuou even though there is nothing Gouhou Drug in this festival (but it’s their current work, same with GATE 7). I’m pretty sure that is Kamui holding TRC!Sakura but I’m not sure… I hope they didn’t forget him =)

I previously mentioned here that the free event “CLAMP Gakuen Festival” will be held at the back of the CLAMP FESTIVAL main stage with cosplay activities, interviews with guets & more. This backstage event will be streamed live by NicoNico in here. You must be a member so hurry and register to watch it live on Saturday! The main stage of the CLAMP FESTIVAL itself will NOT be streamed by NicoNico, only the back stage known as “CLAMP Gakuen Festival”.

I’m not sure if the live streaming will be limited to Japan residents, if that turns out to be the case, I apologize in advance, I really don’t know and I hope it will be open for all.

The official Blythe website informs that their collaboration doll with CLAMP, B2・HOLiC, will be on display at the CLAMP Gakuen Festival.
