After a good first episode, comes a rather disappointing second episode u.u And again this one wasn’t written by Ohkawa-sensei, it was written by Sakurai Yoshiki, instead, who also was one of the 2 script-writers for the XXXHOLiC movie.
Staff for episode 3 – “Angel”:
Storyboard & Episode Director: Junichiro Taniguchi. He was also in charge of Key Animation for the movie.
Animation Director: Tarou Iwasaki.
This episode will really be the one of the Angel Game, in the school with the girls. I’m really glad they kept the Chii ears (at least one crossover ¬¬ I hope it’s not because Chobits also aired on TBS) but I have a bad feeling that we won’t be seeing Yuuko getting Fye’s staff as a payment since Mokona didn’t eat any spirit ball on episodes 1 nor in 2. So yeah, it’ll probably be cut, again, or maybe be placed later on the series.

Oh, that’s so disappointing. T.T I really, really, really hope they don’t cut out all the Tsubasa interactions all together! That would be a nightmare. They can’t do that, can they?
And speaking of Tsubasa, when does it start again?

I know, I’m hoping that too u.u Maybe they are cutting the first ones because it has already been aired on Tsubasa last year, and maybe they’ll keep the later ones so that it’ll cross with Tsubasa? O.o

But half the fun is seeing the event from two different angles. All the hope I have left is lingering on the fact that the first Tsubasa event didn’t happen until the last chapter of the first book. Maybe they’re drawing it like they did for the manga?

Animation getting worse? Check.
Pivotal changes made for the sake of cute/easy? Check.
Fillings for the sake of angst? Check.
Censuring deaths? Check.
Rushing plots over because they’re cooler? Check.
Considering all above, these people at P.I.G. were better than Bee Train, exactly, how? It’s the same strategies of CRAP, sans the cheesy.
I think the Chii ears were left because they’re THE plot device, and they’re too dumb to think of a better way or at least a more believable to get rid of the snake spirit. Not because of the crossover.

I want to believe (let me be a delusional xD) that they kept the ears because they aren’t THAT cruel to take everything off, and I hope more crossovers will come. Even CCS’s one will have it’s day.

We’ll see. If the City with no People book is kept, then it IS a crossover. If not, then P.I.G. is random.

Indeed. They are using Maru and Moro quite often as a comic relief. They’ve kept the string wrapped on their little fingers thing, I hope they keep the Book too u.u

I have yet to see episode 1 in full and I definitely won’t be seeing episode 2 for some time, so I’m saying this as one who hasn’t seen either of the episodes.
Wouldn’t it be best to try and keep an open mind with this adaptation? It’s probably quite clear that all Tsubasa crossovers won’t be in the series at all, so that eliminates part of xxxHOLiC’s key points. I’m just going to see the anime as what xxxHOLiC might’ve been like had it not been for Tsubasa, because that’s really all it looks like it’s going to be.

Seriously, really, I’m not mad at it or anything, but it was certainly a very disappointing episode. But not only because they cut the CCS links, also because they changed some things in the scripts (that I loved on the manga) and the animation is a really step-down compared to 1st episode.

aww….I didn’t find much fault with this episode ^_^;;;
The only thing that bothered me was that the lady didn’t die….(and not just because that’s what happened in the manga, but also because it just doesn’t have the same impact…..)
Also, maybe they just leave out certain crossovers because they don’t have the time to put them in and fully develop the story they’re going for. I dunno….of course I miss the crossovers, but ya gotta be a little lenient with the guys ^_^
All in all….I still think the xxxHOLiC anime is much better than the Tsubasa anime….there’s more mood to it I guess. The Tsubasa anime just seemed dead to me (from episode one, meaning the character interactions, the color used, character designs…everything. The movie was a little better though, despite the fact it had no plot). I can’t really say what it is, but I think xxxHOLiC is just much better done (at least so far).
