On this first post in the first day of 2008 (5 minutes before midnight in Brazil, still Jan 1st xD), I bring you the latest CLAMP posts straight from their Private Boards. They are mostly greeting messages and resolutions for 2008. There are some drawings, too, of course!
I couldn’t translate the posts because I’m the worst japanese translator out there, so if anyone would like to make a contribution, feel free to help ^^

From what I could understand, they had a party at Satsuki’s place ^^
This is the mouse year in Chinese Zodiac, hence the mouse drawing and why the Mokonas and Kobato (yes, that’s Kobato drawn with a PC mouse xD) are wearing mouse ears.
The entries that caught my attention the most were obviously Nekoi’s entries. Her latest entry is called “Hope”, and there’s a Gouhou Drug picture along… hum, she really loves to tease us…
It’s not the first time she expresses her desire to draw Gouhou Drug again, last year she has made several entries of the same kind. Although she hinted on them that Gouhou Drug could be returned in 2007, as you guys know, nothing has happened. I therefore don’t know how we should take these newest ones.
Hope, sort of feels like not even she knows when it’s gonna happen xD Sounds like she’s just as hopeful as we are, HAHAH! Ohkawa, let the woman draw her favorite manga again! C’mon, everyone, help me convince the woman! xD

I agree they always got new things up there sleves and with the new Dark Horse manga they are doing together. I don’t know when they are planning on finishing it.

The drawings are really good, but nekoi’s mouse gives me the creeps… and the “mickey mouse”‘s mokonas look really fun :D, mickey mouse it’s all i have seen these days.. my kids only wanna watch “Mickey Mouse clubhouse”..

I like CLAMP because they can drop series and bring them back if they feel like it. |D
You should REALLY read volumes 1 and 3. But particularly, the 2nd is my favorite ^^

I think so too… but it would be great to have GD again still in 2008, even if that means October, November or December, when there should be only a few TRC/XXXHOLiC chapters remaining.
My Japanese is LOUSY even after living in Japan for six months, but here’s a really (really, really) rough translation of the posts.
I may be totally wrong! So please, please anyone out there please tell me what I mistranslated. I’ll help me learn. 🙂

You think Nekoi means here that drawing GD again will be difficult, as in, difficult to happen? I know the sentence is pretty vague (maybe on purpose), but what do you feel? ^^

Hmm, yeah, that’s what I think as well, since the title of the entry is Hope. Sorry for intruding since the question was not for me ^^;
But even if Ookawa-sensei agreed with re-starting the serialization again, I think would be kind of difficult for them to write/draw three different series at the same time D:, don’t you think ?
Sou ne, and it would be actually 4 works, there’s Kobato too.
But maybe, just maybe, they can have a very busy end of the year, with 5 current works, and right afterwards Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC should end and leave them with only 2 works xD

Yeah, that sentence bothers me a lot.
Let’s break it down.
“絵を描くって難しい”
e wo egakutte muzukashii
絵: painting, drawing, sketch
描く: to paint, to draw, to describe
難しい: difficult
The only thing I’m not sure about it is the “って” part. What does it mean?? Sorry, I really don’t understand. The verb “描く” is in its short form, leaving me with the thought that the “って” part is some kind of colloquialism. And lord knows if it’s not standard speech, I can’t understand. T.T Sorry I really can’t help much with THE most crucial sentence in the entire post. I go back to work on Monday and I’ll try to ask one of my coworkers then (under the guise of simply wanting to improve my Japanese.)
However, I’m positive that the “hope” part is really just that: a wish. I get the feeling that poor Nekoi really wants to start back up on GD, but outside forces are preventing her from doing so. But maybe, maybe this year!

With my non-existant Japanese skills but just-enough-to-garner-a-date Chinese skills, I think the part you left untranslated has something to do with ‘first month, first day’ and the possibly something about zero or nothing.
Then next line something about ‘first day’ and second day. And then something (probably) about the 363 remaining days of the year. Except she’s forgotten that this year is a leap year.
Then it has something about wishing fortune or good luck or something for 2008. I’m not sure, but it has something to do with 2008.
But thank you for the rest of the translation!

It sounds like your on major Gouhou Drug withdrawal that doesn’t seem to want to go away soon enough ^^ (I haven’t read it in a while, but didn’t they cut it off just as it was getting to the plot/backgrounds-of-the-characters? Very annoying…)

Not really… the 3rd volume was the weirdest of all. They spent the entire volume in a all-male school, there wasn’t much of a development in the story.
Yay! Hahaha, Nekoi-san, I feel your pain dear. The world does not have enough Gohou Drug. (when they finally get working on that project again, she is just going to explode with everything that she has been keeping inside. And it will be great, maybe…this is still CLAMP >_>)

I know! She loves it so much, that’s so great, when you love what you do this much. And I think there will be even more drawings.
And don’t get me wrong, I love XXXHOLiC, but I like much more when Nekoi posts Gouhou Drug drawings. Maybe because it’s in hiatus and I miss it? Could be… but I adore GD’s art.

Oh god it’s totally my favorite of all their styles. That’s the first reason why I fell in love with it so much. It’s a good medium between their earlier stuff and the TRC/xxx styles. (love v.2’s the best)
