Mouryou no Hako news

This month’s issue of Newtype magazine, out August 9, has some news about Mouryou no Hako, the anime adaptation from the homonymous novel with character concept by CLAMP.

The anime will start in October/2008 and will be aired in Nippon TV.

The Opening theme song will be called Lost in Blue and the Ending theme will be called NAKED LOVE, both to be performed by the band Nightmare.

The single will be out September 17 in several editions, check the covers at the band’s official website. At the moment the single’s tracklist doesn’t include the song NAKED LOVE, but the source reports that both songs will be performed by Nightmare (who also performed for the Death Note anime).

Source: MoonPhase.

Two months away to begin the broadcast! I’ll be looking forward to it. I think a J-rock band is a good pick for this kind of anime, even though I don’t know Nightmare’s music.

Lastly, here‘s the cover of this month’s Kindai Mahjong Original magazine, which features a one-shot manga drawn by CLAMP about the manga Washizu. From what I could understand, the one-shot comes in an appendix.

The magazine is out tomorrow.

Mid-July Edition

Maihime/Utakata No Ki cover

Yomiuri Online has a bigger version of the cover of Mori Ougai’s Maihime/Utakata No Ki pocket edition, which was drawn by CLAMP and released last month.

Since we had only seen a very small sample of the cover, I was under the impression that Nekoi could have drawn it, but now you can clearly see it’s Mokona. I really like when CLAMP draws for a novel, it’s a chance to see new styles of their art, this one is so gorgeous, reminds me a bit of CLOVER.

CLAMP also drew the cover for Sanshou Dayuu/Takasebune/Abe Ichizoku‘s pocket edition, but so far I couldn’t find a bigger version of it Bigger version thanks to Vache ^__^

If you find more pictures of these please let me know! xD

CLAMP x Washizu collaboration

This latest issue of Kindai Mahjong Original has an announcement stating that CLAMP will draw a short comic based on the manga Washizu ~Enma no Touhai~ (ワシズ―閻魔の闘牌―) in its September issue.

The announcement says that this is a “dream collaboration“, marking CLAMP’s first contribution to Kindai Mahjong Original magazine.

Kindai Mahjong Original is a magazine derived from Kindai Mahjong, which CLAMP also drew a short comic for in December of 2006.

Washizu is a spin-off manga of Akagi, it is drawn by Keichiirou Hara in collaboration with Akagi creator, Nobuyuki Fukumoto. Washizu is currently on its second chapter.

The September issue of Kindai Mahjong Original, with CLAMP’s short comic, will be released on August 8.

I’m curious about this, of course, but I think it’ll be hard to find any scans of this. Kindai Mahjong is not a very known magazine, its spin-off magazine must be even less known. Let’s hope for the best, though! ^__^

CLAMP draws for manga obi strip

In my last CLAMP NEWS !! post I mentioned that CLAMP would draw an illustration for the obi strip of the manga Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi ~Onodera Ritsu no Baai~ by Nakamura Shungiku (Junjou Romantica author).

The manga will be officially released on July 1st but some copies are already out:

In the obi it says “Takano-san likes Onodera-kun too much” and in the right corner “CLAMP-sensei’s recommendation“.

Thanks Sakura-chan for the translation!

What a nice illustration, it’s Nekoi’s version of the two main characters (but I can’t help to relate them to Kazahaya and Rikuou xD).

The NEWS BOARD section at CLAMP-NET.COM states that CLAMP will be featured on the 35th edition of Bande Dessinée International Festival. The festival will be held in Angoulême, France, from January 24th to January 27th of 2008.

The official press release, with more information, can be seen here.

The exhibition displayed in the Espace Franquin within the framework of the Manga Building is an unprecedented event. Richly comprised of numerous original plates and other unpublished preparatory works, it also offers a special documentary film shot in the studio of the four artists. Conceived as a real journey behind the scenes, the exhibition s open to all and divides into a number of distinct areas over a 200sqm surface, thus allowing an in-depth exploration of their world.

The first section of the exhibition is an introduction to the major works of the studio. The visitors then proceed to a fake studio, recreated for the occasion, in which workshops and shows will take place. The original pieces are displayed in a mysterious gothic crypt… In addition, a retrospective of the animation series and films inspired by the CLAMP mangas (x 1999, Chobits, xxxHOLIC, etc.) will be shown to the public in the Manga uilding.

Sugoi na~? Lucky french people! So who’s attending? If allowed, please take pictures!
