Several News

• The Witch’s Mansion and the Magic Summit:

This has been out for a while but I forgot to post about it. CLAMP will draw the cover and inside illustrations for the 6th volume of The Witch’s Mansion series. The new volume written by Yoko Tsukumo is entitled The Witch’s Mansion and the Magic Summit and will be released on October 9.

• BLOOD-C:

Amazon.co.jp has a bigger look at the cover of the BLOOD-C novel, which was drawn by CLAMP. You can download the HQ cover over here (special thanks to the clamp_now for extracting the picture out of Amazon.co.jp website).

The novel has 416 pages and will be released on October 4.

Also, Kadokawa is listing a BLOOD‐C OFFICIAL COMPLETE BOOK Taido on October 26. The book will have interviews with staff and cast, rare materials and CLAMP’s original character concepts.

• CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO:

In case you haven’t seen it, the cover of CLAMP’s original manga for the festival is up at the official website. The manga’s title will be “Shiritsu Horitsuba Gakuen Bangaihen: Tenkousei ni Dokidoki”.

• Art Exhibition:

Several Brazilian websites are reporting that a selection of CLAMP’s original art will be exhibited at the RioComicon 2011, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event will take place from October 20 to 23.

As a Brazilian, I’m very happy and proud with that news! It’s a huge opportunity to let other people learn about their work. I don’t live in Rio but I will my best to go there! =)

CLAMP FESTIVAL TOKYO 2011

This huge music and visual festival will take place on September 24 at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo. It will gather singers, seiyuus and other artists related to the CLAMP works performing in a concert, talk shows, skits and short plays.

There will be two presentations on the same day.

The line up for the festival so far is:

Nana Mizuki (BLOOD-C)
Naomi Tamura (Magic Knight Rayearth)
Yui Makino (Tsubasa)
Megumi Nakajima (Kobato.)
Rie Tanaka (Chobits)
Mika Kikuchi (Tsubasa/XXXHOLiC)
Jun Fukuyama (XXXHOLiC/Code Geass)
Sakura Tange (Card Captor Sakura)
Junko Iwao (Card Captor Sakura)
Sayaka Ohara (Tsubasa/XXXHOLiC)
Kinya Kotani (Tsubasa)
Kamiya Hiroshi (Kobato.)

The audio and visuals for the festival will be in charge of Yoshihiro Ike, one of the biggest names in Japanese music industry.

Original goods will be sold exclusively at the event. Tickets go on sale August 27 (CLAMP@MOBiLE members have early purchase on July 22). An original comic will be given to those attending.

Check out the official website for the event: http://clampfestival.jp/
A twitter account for the festival was launched, too: http://twitter.com/clampfestival

If you look at the website, there is a LIVE VIEWING section (still unavailable). Hopefully the festival will be broadcast online (hopefully they won’t limit it for Japan residents only).

Also hopefully this festival will be later be released on home video (DVD & Blu-Ray), because this looks very huge. The last time we had a concert featuring several artists was in 2005 with the CLAMP Su event. But this festival is much bigger than that, the Ajinomoto Stadium supports 50.000 people (it IS a stadium after all!).

Wonder if the CLAMP members themselves will make an appearance (or are they too shy for that? =)

This looks very huge! I’m excited for what else they have planned for this!

CLAMP aid for Fukushima, CCS movies BD release

The event Irashai Fukushima was held this weekend in Fukushima to raise funds for the city, affected by the nuclear incident caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

12 mangakas held a sign session and others contributed with sign boards for charity.

CLAMP made a signed board with a Syaoran illustration:

Source: mantan-web.

The event’s official website mentions that CLAMP contributed with a CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan illustration, I wonder if it’s a mistake or there is a second illustration?

CLAMP members Nanase Ohkawa and Tsubaki Nekoi were seen at the event, although CLAMP did not perform a sign session.

Yay for CLAMP doing charity work \o/

On other news, Bandai Visual will release the two Card Captor Sakura movies in Blu-Ray format on August 26 for 6.300 yens each. The covers will feature new illustrations drawn by CLAMP (source).

Yay for new CCS illustrations \o/

CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 further reports

Here’s one last (?) round up of reports from the CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 event I was able to gather from several sources.

– The XXXHOLiC OAD screening was cut after 30 minutes or so and the message “continues on the DVD out March 9” was shown.
– “XXXHOLiC Rou” is over, for the time being.
– Ohkawa asked the other CLAMP members how they felt regarding XXXHOLiC ending. Mokona said she’s “relieved” (as in, after running a huge marathon), Satsuki and Nekoi said they want to reread it because for the moment they are a little confused about it.
– OAD Director Tsutomu Mizushima wanted to come to the event but was unable to.
– CLAMP asked the audience who was the main character in XXXHOLiC: Yuuko or Watanuki. CLAMP thinks it’s Watanuki, Tsutomu Mizushima thinks it’s Yuuko.
– They don’t think Doumeki is “ikemen“, same as they don’t think Watanuki is “bishounen“.
– When the last chapter of “Rou” was finished, they celebrated drinking until morning even though they had to work on the following day.
– They mentioned the episode in France where CLAMP were asked about the lack of kissing scenes in their works. The kiss between Hana and Chikahito was a response to that.
– Hana’s gender was also discussed. The majority of the audience thinks she is a girl, but there were also those who thought her as genderless. CLAMP didn’t said anything, though.
– For GATE 7 color illustrations, first they draw and paint the characters using analog instruments. Then they scan the picture and background and other effects (flowers) are added using CG. You can check this more clearly on the picture of GATE 7’s gallery in CLAMP-NET.COM’s report below.
– CLAMP said that they want to do more events of this nature and art exhibitions in the future.

CLAMP-NET.COM posted their report up here with a few (very small) pics.

CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 Report (Updated)

The two-day event CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 took place in Ikebukuro (Tokyo) this weekend, on the second day, the XXXHOLiC Rou Adayume OAD had its first screening and a CLAMP Talk Show was held. There are several reports spread around the internet from the people who managed to go.

Here is a summary of the highlights of both days (mild XXXHOLiC manga and OAD spoilers alert).

– Looks like a Yuuko Blythe doll was announced (not sure if it’ll be released in the future);
– Apart from original color art and manuscript, GATE 7 character settings were exposed;
– GATE 7 color illustrations are a mix of analog and digital drawing techniques. CG is used for final touches (as I thought);
– XXXHOLiC Rou Adayume OAD’s length is 20 minutes (Update: this source says 30 minutes or more).
– Looks like the OAD ends in a cliffhanger…

CLAMP Talk Show:

– The final chapter of XXXHOLiC manga readers will feel either “surprised” or “relieved”;
– XXXHOLiC artbook announcement;
– The editors of Jump SQ joined as guests to talk about GATE 7;
– CLAMP are not used to draw GATE 7 yet (because it’s a new work);
– The most difficult one seems to be Chikahito. Hana is the easiest;
Code Geass talk. CLAMP’s original concepts for Boukoku no Akito were shown.

• Event:

Probably the most important news of today, the special page of CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 at CLAMP-NET.COM was updated revealing the new illustration that will be featured in the A2 size poster to be sold exclusively at the event:

For other CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 news, please refer to the clamp-mobile tag.

The two-days event will take place on February 5 and 6.

May I say that I (obviously) LOVED the illustration? I was expecting a crossover illustration! So happy to see an “updated” illustration of CLAMP’s characters. Tsubasa gang wearing their ultimate clothes, Watanuki in his ultimate self, the GATE7 cast (clearly visible as CLAMP’s front work) and so very happy to see Kamui (and his wings) and the Gouhou Drug duo =)
