The cover of “Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai-hen vol. 3 is here!

The strange thing is that it hasn’t been announced a special cover for the PLAYBUTTON limited edition, not even at Kodansha’s site. So either there won’t be a special case drawn by CLAMP to hold the PLAYBUTTON (like they did with XXXHOLiC Rei #3), or it’ll be later announced. But CLAMP-NET.COM didn’t announce anything about it so it looks like we won’t have one.

Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai-hen vol. 3 will be released on August 17! (although Kodansha lists it for August 12…)

I was expecting Sakura to be on the final cover… I guess CLAMP are really trying to say that Syaoran and Sakura are apart.

You can pre-order both the regular and PLAYBUTTON limited edition at CD Japan.

  1. lovely to see so many images of these two lately. this red staff is becoming a feature. have we ever seen it in the manga chapters?

    • Hummm I gave up thinking that the appearance of staff means anything in Tsubasa. Remember Syaoran’s super cool clock-like staff? It never appeared in the manga other than for illustrational purposes u.u

      • I guess the clock staff is more symbolic. Syaoran travels dimensions and through time. And both syaorans plus Sakura turn back their physical age. Both syaorans hold that clock staff.

  2. Gorgeous illustration of those two, and very fitting the events of the volumes, with the battle between father and son! (though what I remember the most if the moving hug between the 2)

Question: the playbutton content is the oneshot that happens in a winter country, right? I would like to know if said oneshot (the manga pages) comes separately as a mini book, or comes at the end of the volume itself (in which case, we would have it in the regular edition since the book is the same…)

    • oh my goodness me yes! that hug was just so beautiful to see. and when papa syaoran comforted tsubasa syaoran when he was crying before the fight.
i like the subtle difference between their eyes. thats the only way i can tell them apart. the dads eyes are more sleek. so i think dad is the one at the back. im interested in these red staffs. they’ve been featured a lot on the covers of twc.

      • The reunion between the two was definitely one of the most touching moment in the series : CLAMP really made this parent and child pair suffer a lot, and they made them both act way too distant toward each other even though, of course, we have to consider that they really were separated most of the time, and when they finally met each other again, dad|Syaoran turned into a feather real fast…
I hope they will both get their happy ending 🙂

I think CLAMP must have just decided to make the covers of the 3 books match somehow, buy using one common item: the staff. I don’t think there is more to it: both Syaoran’s weapon is definitely the sword!

It’s the one where Seishirou appears, the one with the big monster and all the candies. And it will come in a separate booklet 😉

      • Will you be putting the play button chapter on your website chibiyuuto? I really wana hear it! I wonder if they added to that chapter to make it longer or if they just read the bubbles already there?
