So we learn that Syaoran has to “fight and win” in order to return the souls of the dead to the Living Nirai Kanai. I don’t really know in practical terms what that means, I think it means they will be reincarnated (as opposed to resurrected) — we’ve seen that happening in CLAMP stories before (lots of times).

Syaoran has to fight and win against the person who he would least like to fight, in other words, he has to fight against the clone! Holy sh*t, CLAMP, poor Syaoran I am pitying this poor dude right now, just let him be happy already!

Syaoran then makes a simple math (which I did myself, too) that it seems easy: he can win over against the clone and he will be happily reborn after that. WRONG! The tree (or whatever is talking to Syaoran) explain that since the clone isn’t from Nirai Kanai, he won’t be reincarnated. Basically this rule it only applies to the people from Nirai Kanai, which makes sense if you ask me (poor Syaoran…)

I didn’t understand the part where the tree explains thatthe one who possesses “seji” must not “have a human heart.” Doesn’t Syaoran have human emotions?

Did anyone else notice the constant “DOKUN” noise that keeps repeating on this chapter? Is it the tree that is making this sound, I wonder…?

Now Syaoran must CHOOSE — my god I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes! Let’s hope he can make a choice by the next chapter.

25 pages this month again (same as last month). 78 pages for volume 3 so far. Volume 3 will be released in the Japanese Spring. Chapter 16 goes on sale next month.

  1. Time to make a choice once again…
That said, what does “winning” again Syaoran means? He is already “dead” after all, what could possibly happen to him exactly…? And something else, if we follow what the Voice says, then this Tsubasa story is not about finding new bodies/reincarnating Syaoran/Sakura, a shame…I sincerely thought at least one of the too many unresolved plots left out in the previous series would be resolved here.

    • Excellent question xD He *is* already dead after all…

I also very much hope some of the TRC plot holes will be solved in TWC. Maybe Syaoran will find out an alternative happy ending for the clones that doesn’t resolve around reincarnation? Maybe the Utaki is testing Syaoran…?

  2. Ugh… this chapter brings me back to X/1999 for some reason. The situation seems too similar to me.

Anyway, Syaoran only used two out of the four “gifts” Watanuki gave to him. Maybe one (or both) of them is the key to solve this impossible choice?

    • It’s the CLAMP factor speaking aloud! The decision Syaoran has to make is very CLAMPy and I like it =) Poor guy, tho…

Good point! I think they are yet to play their role, indeed.
