TRC 216 !

I’ve been very busy this week with work, I would even like to apologize for being late on posting and answering comments during this week (thank you all for them!).

So, new chapter up at both ladydarkmoon or The Room of Requirement. This is the 150th chapter scanned by our heroine Alison, so make sure to drop her a deserved thanks if you can ^_~

Who needs splash pages when you’re manga is at the climax, riiiight? XD

So the tube scene finally shows itself again and once again, I was mistaken xD I was under the impression that that scene was representing a scene that would eventually happen in the course of the story. But it turns out that, apparently, that scene already happened, actually it may have happened right there at Chapter 1, or even earlier.

So the Sakura and Syaoran who are there, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT, are actually CCS Sakura and Syaoran. God.

I remember when Tsubasa first started, the first summaries of Chapter 1 described that tube scene, and they were saying “They are on a tube, they can’t touch each other, but they are not the same Syaoran and Sakura from CCS“. How wrong we were xD

This brought me questions, lots of questions, so be prepared for questions cause I’m not understanding what’s going on (for a change xD).

Why the need to turn back time?
Who build that tube? It was given to Yuuko so it wasn’t hers. Sakura and Syaoran themselves?
Since when Yukito is blood related to Sakura and Syaoran?
Why Syaoran’s magic circle is beneath Sakura and, on the other hand, Sakura’s magic circle is beneath Syaoran? Are each of them casting their magic on each other?
Why their “selfs” have the same clothing as TRC!Sakura and TRC!Syaoran? I can understand Sakura because it could represent her pure soul but Syaoran? Why clothes exactly like Clow country? And he looks beat up too, on the top.
Why are the surroundings falling apart? Where were them back then? At the shop? What’s with the geometrical background? Was the shop falling apart once? Or were they elsewhere and after that incident they were moved to Yuuko’s shop?
Where is Sakura flying to? She can’t go nowhere in that small tube.
What is that other tube where the soul of the “original” Sakura cloned by Fei Wang supposedly went to?

At least now we can CLEARLY understand why the “Sakura” Syaoran screams is written in hiragana.

Also, Yuuko herself clearly states that her time has began to move again, so she really was frozen in time. I still don’t understand what’s the difference between her and Clow!Sakura frozen time… magic power?

Fei Wang goes MASAKA, which means he did not expect for that. Humm, the beginning of his end?

The last page is made of total crackiness, I lost control of how many Sakuras and Syaorans we have. LOL

I’m slightly disappointed with Tsubasa after this chapter. I really hope everything will make sense in the end, cause right now it just DOESN’T and looks full of possible plot-holes. I’m counting on you Ohkawa to put and end to this mess which you started (yes, I’m quoting Yuuko about Clow and Fei Wang xD).

Lastly, but not least, cardcaptorkiki-chan has nice scans from the Tsubasa Shunraiki OAD box here in her journal!

In case you are wondering, yes, I watched the OAD, and I was utterly disappointed with it. Utterly displeased by the animation, soundtrack (which I never liked) and cast (didn’t like Kendappa’s voice, and some of the old cast still happen to annoy me xD). Even the script did not please me, I’m afraid.

  1. I hope translations about this new chapters will come out soon, as well as explanations from CLAMP because, as of now, I can’t get a thing… -_-

I’m not so disappointed with the OAD because actually I was expecting much worse.
I still think it was stupid to try to fit the whole Nihon arc (plus bits of the Celes one) in two OAD. They basically left the plot as it was in the manga but somehow it gives me a rushed feeling, as if they were trying to stuff as much as possible in it. And yes, animation isn’t that good and I wish they would draw Seishiro better (Sure he’s better than in the anime but still…)
Since I liked the soundtrack (and considering how rushed seem the OAD… they didn’t even bothered doing animation for the ending theme and the opening animation theme is so static! Characters are just so flat in it!) I can’t really complain about it… but that’s just me…

    Like

    • I think that OAD looked a little off, out of place, you know? It skipped two worlds, so weird.

And yeah, the animation didn’t help at all, how dare they draw Seishirou that ugly LOL

      >they didn’t even bothered doing animation for the ending theme and the opening animation theme is so static! Characters are just so flat in it!

Yes, exactly. One could say it looks artistic, well, it IS a cool effect, but to me they did that because of the short deadline they had, shame.

      Like

      • Yes, that’s for sure.I was hoping they would made sme effort to summarize them or to work their main points in the OAD or something not just… skip them. But there’s to say the OAD are sold with the manga ergo CLAMP can feel themselves allowed to believe who will watch them had already read the manga and ergo knows that worlds and doesn’t need a summary for them.

I saw that same effect in an old opening for a DB videogame. It hadn’t impressed me back then and it doesn’t now.
Also I think Sonic Boom would have been a better ending and Kioku no Mori a better opening. Kioku no Mori is more fast paced which, to me would have been better for an opening but, considering the opening is so static maybe this explains why SB had been chosed as OP…

  2. Re: Yukito, one of my readers pointed out that he looks the same as Fujitaka from the back, and that it’s more likely to be Fujitaka in that panel, since it specifically said “blood relations.” I have to agree with her/him.

Yes, 215 chapters later, the hiragana/katakana significance is clear. OMG.

The clothes are still bothering me, I admit, especially since they are wearing different, adult clothing in Jr.’s flashbacks. Well, all shall be made clear, I suppose.

    • I considered Yukito to be actually Fujitaka, but I’m not sure if he is smaller than Touya. Yukito seems to fit more in that height. But we’ll see ^^

i was disappointed with the OAD too.. i’ve never liked TRC OST, the animation was of way lower quality than Tokyo Revelations, and i did NOT like how they scripted in random inserts from the Infinity and Celes arcs.

oh, and wtf, WHY was Fay wearing his Celes gear in Infinity…?

oh yah, he was DEFINITELY wearing his Celes gear. i was watching the episode with a friend, and i screeched out “STOP!” (friend hadn’t noticed it either), and i rewound it back to the scene and then started cursing the hell out of Prod IG some more. check around 5:35min into the episode.

        • Sorry for butting in, but that wasn’t Infinity, that was the Celes scene in which R!Fai’s body was disappearing after the feather in his body/the jewel placed in by him in the water got into Sakura. Immediately after that, Fai’s second curse activated and his power whoooosh-ed around him.

Which old cast annoyed you btw?

    • I hope the 2 OAD will make up for all the disappointments from OAD 1. But it’s so bad that Tsubasa “anime” has been this huge mess u.u

      >Which old cast annoyed you btw?

Mokona and sometimes Kurogane (in one specific moment he sounded more like Inada Tetsu than Kurogane, so weird). I also don’t really like Maaya Sakamoto as Tomoyo.

i was also very unimpressed with the ODAs so far, but i think Holic’s ios more interesting, though as boring as it was.

i was hoping the Celes ark would have its own animation. i was very uoset with it.

  7. Actually I’m pretty mad with CLAMP for destroying our happy CCS ending…
I could take that their children had gone missing because they still were together and die, or whatever, together… but they would have been together forever, as promised at the end of CCS.
But now we learn that they were not together forever, because that glass seems to me like a BIG separation…

I know CCS is CLAMP’s, but how could they…how could Ohkawa tear apart that beautiful and perfect ending?

About your questions, I’m as brain dead as you are… I decided not to think more and just to wait and see what happens XD

    BTW, I’d love that you elaborate on your OAD analysis ^^;;

    Like

    • Hahaha that’s true. But humm, that’s how they HOPED their future to be xD

At least we get to see them again and see what “happened” in this meantime. I’m very curious about it.

Besides, maybe they lived happy enough before they turned back time xD

      >BTW, I’d love that you elaborate on your OAD analysis ^^;;

Are you sure? HAHAHA, it’ll be filled with criticize xD

To start with, I hated the animation. I think that was the huge turn off to me, because it was constant, not just a scene or two. Honestly, Mouryou no Hako, that’s top-quality animation to me, just to name a recent work. Even the other Production IG works look better than Tsubasa/XXXHOLiC. They don’t give their best AT ALL in Tsubasa/XXXHOLiC.

It’s really unpleasant to watch something that is visually bad, specially when it comes to CLAMP who are so careful with their drawings. Visual is everything to me and when that aspect is compromised, half the fun goes away with it. Fuuma didn’t look like Fuuma sometimes, same to Seishirou!

Then, if visual wasn’t enough, I also hated it audio-wise. I don’t like FictionJunction’s music, I just don’t. It’s not my type of song, and what’s more, personally I don’t think it suits Tsubasa.

So there you go, visual and audio both did not nearly reach my stardards, so it’s hard for me to say I liked it =/

I wish I had liked it, honestly, it’s a shame cause it looked so promising and I was looking so much forward to it.

  8. I’m as confused as you are (and even more XD) and I even read the translation lol

OMFG! I so want to cry now that I know that the Saku and Syao from the tube are the CCS ones. God, where’s our happy CCS ending?!!

-Why the need to turn back time?
Maybe they were the ones that turned back time when TRC!Syaoran wished for it? (it’s the only explanation tha comes to my mind now)

-Why Syaoran’s magic circle is beneath Sakura and, on the other hand, Sakura’s magic circle is beneath Syaoran? Are each of them casting their magic on each other?
Think the same, they were casting their magic on each other.

-Since when Yukito is blood related to Sakura and Syaoran?
I believe it’s Fujitaka, but when I first saw him, thought it was Yukito too. It doesn’t make sense that Yukito is shown with Touya as one of the relatives, but that image is quite confusing…

-Where is Sakura flying to? She can’t go nowhere in that small tube.
I thought she was flying to where the action was? (meaning she was going to Clow Country XD)

Damn it, I’m confused and I want to cry… Poor Saku and Syao T-T

    • >Maybe they were the ones that turned back time when TRC!Syaoran wished for it?

So they went back on time ALONG with him? Like, three people turned back on time, then? Syaoran and his parents?

      >Think the same, they were casting their magic on each other.

I do wonder what for, though… Specially since Syaoran supposedly is weaker in magic power than Sakura.

      >I believe it’s Fujitaka, but when I first saw him, thought it was Yukito too. It doesn’t make sense that Yukito is shown with Touya as one of the relatives, but that image is quite confusing…

I thought of Fujitaka too, but that looks so small to be him, don’t you think? Weird…

      >I thought she was flying to where the action was?

But that is not happening in real-time, I think XD I understood that that was a recollection of something that once happened. And both Syaoran and Sakura appeared in Clow, and Syaoran didn’t fly away xD

I’m so confused as well x_x it’s so close to the ending but we still haven’t got a clue of what’s happening, jesus xD

  9. ok, i think i’m starting to understand this. In the ccs world sakura and syaoran sent their son (syaoran jr.)to help clow country. then when syaoran jr. decided to try to save clow country sakura, wantanuki was created. SO to make sure neither syaoran jr. NOR watanuki dissapear, ccs sakura and syaoran used their magic to protect those two. They then have to wait in the tube, which is why watanuki can’t remember his parents, until their time has been fufilled. And since Yuuko isnt stuck in a frozen time anymore, through the dream, she sends CCS sakura and syoaran to clow country. everything else though, i have nooooooooooo idea.

    Like

    • Humm, thanks for the summary, it DOES sound MUCH less complicated when you put it that way.

However, I still find it intriguing the reason why Sakura and Syaoran sent their son. I don’t think it was “just” to save Clow!Sakura, I think there’s a much bigger meaning behind it. Everything else seems very right to me.

      >through the dream

I don’t understand how being in a dream is that relevant. She can’t send them if she is not in a dream?

  10. ok, so let me get what is happening at the end: syaoran finally meets his parents in the younger, “just like them” version???? that’s a little unfair… XD or maybe i’m wrong… and where the heck is Sakura flying to?! btw i think the reason why Syaoran has Sakura’s circle and Sakura has his circle is that… are they trying to combine powers for “the children’s future”(who are they exactly?). i tried to read it as slow as i can, but i have other things to do, so i need to find time to reread it slowly. ^^;

As for the OAD, i’m a little disappointed too… but i had to admit, i like FictionJunction’s songs, but yah, i’m not quite sure if it can fit Tsubasa’s theme =/. honestly it’s a nice song, but still. -_-; so far, for the first time ever, i’m not really looking forward for the next one… there’s still a little light for it, but i’m not reaching it for now…

  11. I read an early translation of the chapter and just got totally confused. But hey, seeing Sakura and Syaoran, and Touya and … Yukito? Fujitaka? was worth the confusion. ^^

I was totally shocked that the Sakura and Syaoran in the tube were the CCS ones. Maybe Sakura was flying back to her own dimension and she and Syaoran were acting as placeholders for their son and TRC-Sakura, hoping that Syaoran Jr. would end up there?

      • Reading that again, I’m not quite sure either. O_o

I think what I was saying was something along the lines of how Syaoran Jr.’s parents sacrificed their own, um, places in existence to be in the place of their son and TRC-Sakura’s (if they should end up in that situation) to stop FWR’s plan. So they were hoping Jr. wouldn’t end up there, but he did anyways.

    Weel Thanks for the News!!
But I dont agree with you about the OAD xD, In sometimes I like it better than TTR, for example:I find “The Magicians Words” a little slow and boring, it only gets better at the end, and I think the quality of this OAd its so much better than “The Boys Right Eye”,but no better than the third from TTR, y agree with you about the lack of imagitanition with the ending, and btw I dont like at all Kioku No Mori, such a beautiful lyrics and mmeaning, but I dont like the song, the Op I liked it a lot *_*, and I think its my favorite (Animation) from all the Tsubasa animation, but well not anyone second me on that xD

And about the Soundtrack , I liked but not at all, I second about Seichiro & Fuuma bad drawings, but I think that in Kurogane and Syaoran the get better a lot, y the 2 of TTR Syao look so skinny and here it look more, mm how can I say? with muscles xD

Anyway this one, ita exiting from the beggining to end, but I think what I love the most was the scenes when Sya gets into the dream, some people say that that part has a lack of good animation, but I fond it amazing *_*, I dont know it look so “Japanese” xD, I Dont know if anyone will undestand with that.

I still liked TTR best and I think it was better animated. I have to agree with you though that the animation quality in The Boy’s Right Eye was really low.

We agree in one more point too, the dream sequences were my favorites in this one. Still doesn’t mean that I liked the “whole” OAD, but those scenes were nice ^^

  13. I told you this chapter was gonna cause Lightbulbs to go on but also it’s confusing.

I think it is Yukito. Here’s how he could “count” as a blood relation. He was made by Clow Reed, he is part of the family in that sence. We don’t really know how Yukito and Kero and Spinel Sun and Ruby Moon were made. They could be related to them by blood if that was what the creation required. Fujitaka was never involved in the magical part of Sakura’s life, so i don’t think he’d be a part of this either. At least he wouldn’t be the one who would go to the Witch, it would be more of Touya and Yukito agreeing with him.
And does the plural tense even exist in japanese? I thought it didn’t. I could be wrong though. But if i’m not it could just be Touya who asked Yuuko to do it.

-Why are the surroundings falling apart? Where were them back then? At the shop? What’s with the geometrical background? Was the shop falling apart once? Or were they elsewhere and after that incident they were moved to Yuuko’s shop?
It seems that Yuuko has been keeping a lot of things in the storage room to distract from the existence of the tube there. As for the things falling apart, it could be that time is sitting still for them at precisely when the shop will fall apart. To them they have been there a long time not being able to go near each other, but at the same time they exist in a different world all together, so that may just be what the outside world looks like to them.

-Why their “selfs” have the same clothing as TRC!Sakura and TRC!Syaoran?
Besides psyching Fei Wong out? He could think that it’s the Clones that have returned for starters. It could be to serve the purpose of replacing the Clones in the end. They not only rewound themselves in existence but also made themselves appear like the children when they would meet again.

that’s all i have. If you actually read all the recent chapters one after the other it makes a bit more seance because sentences actually continue that way and don’t stop mid monologue.

And random side note. Ch 212’s splash page actually now sounds like CCS Sakura rather than Clone Sakura or Princess Sakura.

    • I thought about Yukito being a Clow creation and thus, being blood-related to Sakura. Indeed we don’t know what is required in order to create a guardian, maybe Clow had to give some of his blood?

      Good point ^_~

      >As for the things falling apart, it could be that time is sitting still for them at precisely when the shop will fall apart.

Sitting still? Hummm. It seems like it’s really dynamic, like it’s happening (not freezed) but you could be right. And that geometrical background also puzzles me.

      >To them they have been there a long time not being able to go near each other, but at the same time they exist in a different world all together, so that may just be what the outside world looks like to them.

Their view? Huummm, it’s a possibility xD

      >Besides psyching Fei Wong out?

To confuse FWR? Could be too, I wonder if his magic power is powerful enough to sense who’s who.

      >that’s all i have. If you actually read all the recent chapters one after the other it makes a bit more seance because sentences actually continue that way and don’t stop mid monologue.

I will do that eventually. Reading it weekly breaks your line of thought right in the middle.

It is most definitely a good point, and really the answer to this whole mess. While I’m not going to say it DEFINITELY isn’t Fujitaka, the build looks much more like Yukito.

All this confusion is over the difference between English and Japanese pluralizations. As already mentioned, Japanese doesn’t have singular vs. plural nouns. The closest thing to a plural noun in Japanese is the suffix 達. Now, this word can appear to make things plural, but that’s not exactly its function. For instance, dog (inu) can become dogs by adding the pluralizing suffix (inu-tachi). But this isn’t used for a vague description about dogs, it’s used to describe “a dog + some related living creatures similar to that first dog”. That’s why watashi-tachi/boku-tachi/etc. becomes “we” and why Syaoran-tachi means “Syaoran (+ Sakura, Kurogane, Fay & Mokona)”. It doesn’t mean more than one Syaoran (although in this series, it can actually mean that xD), it means one Syaoran and people that are closely related to him in some form or another.

Considering all of this, the word in the chapter was 肉親達. Blood relative + tachi. This phrase only requires one blood relative (Touya) and then another person who can be connected to him. Touya and Yukito most definitely would be able to be connected in that way.

Anybody with better Japanese skill than me feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. ^^

I see! I didn’t know that last kanji was tachi. Now it makes perfect sense to me, it doesn’t necessarily mean the TWO of them are blood-relatives.

Thanks for the explanation, it was really helpful ^^

          Like

          • Yup, that’s exactly right. ^^ And you’re quite welcome. I love to share what little knowledge I have on the subject to others. We all have our own biases based on the language we grew up in, so it can really help to just think about things from a new perspective. =]

            Like

        • Yes, really thank you for explaining that. I only made it through a semester of Japanese (and failed miserably) but I did catch that the plural for japanese was a bit iffy, we never really got around to it in that semester So i TOTALLY appreciate the breakdown you made for us to explain it.

In the end we just know that for sure A blood relative of Sakura’s was present, and there were others involved though they don’t get the title recognition.

How many Shaoran’s are we at now that you mention it…we shouldn’t ever see Shaoran-tachi…translating that one line could through off an entire chapter…and then some.

          Like

          • Not a problem. I’m really glad my post helped you. It can be sort of hard to imagine how a language can function without plurals when you’ve grown up always having them. If you’re not careful, it’s so easy to just label tachi as the Japanese plural. I know I did before I took a formal class and learned that wasn’t the case.

You should give Japanese another try someday. It’s a lot of fun! (A lot of headachey, confusing, mind-blowing fun ^^;;;) What was it in particular that made Japanese hard for you? The writing? Teacher? Grammar? Maybe your class just wasn’t very helpful.

“translating that one line could through off an entire chapter…and then some.”
Lawl! How very true. xD You’ve just gotta love how complicated Tsubasa has become.

            Like

            • Thank you for shedding some light on that! Now that we’re on the subject of plurals, I have a question too if that’s all right. The translation speaks of “left their children behind”. Wasn’t Syaoran jr. their only kid? Or is ‘placeholder’ Watanuki also considered to be their kid? Or was there no plural in the original at all?

              Like

              • You’re welcome. =] Let’s see…the Japanese text does say “kodomo-tachi” which in this case we can be fairly certain is referring to multiple children. CLAMP has given us no reason to believe (yet anyway) that Sakura has given birth to any other child besides Syaoran Jr., so I believe it’s referring to Syaoran Jr. and Watanuki. It would seem that everyone has embraced Watanuki as part of the Sakura & Syaoran family. Which, really, they should since he’s essentially a copy of Syaoran (I guess).

                I hope that helped. ^^

                Like

                • Thanks! It’s sweet how everyone’s accepting Watanuki into the family^^ It does indeed make the most sense, but I can’t shake the fear of CLAMP going “Hi guyz, remember how we hinted at Clow country’s Sakura not actually being called Sakura? That’s coz she’s also CCS!Sakura and CCS!Shaoran’s child! They dumped her there because [insert weird reason here]”

Yes, my faith in CLAMP has seen better days I’m afraid >.>

I don’t know. I think CLAMP’s just as good now as they ever were. I think Tsubasa has become a little convoluted (at first I thought they were just trying to show all of them had doubles–White & Black Mokona, Kuro & his dad, Cloney & Syaoran, (C!)Sakura’s body & soul, and Fay & Yuui–but then all these new third and fourth and etc. copies keep showing up…hurts my brain if I try to think about it DX), though, which is I think the point you’re trying to make.

Hopefully everything will tie up nicely in the end like usual. =]

            • Oh i’ll try Japanese again when It can’t affect my GPA and hopes of graduating.
There was just too much for me to memorize in such a short span of time. In two weeks we learned Hiragana and then moved to Katakana in another two weeks. Kanji started about a month after that and by then I was still trying to tell appart some of the katakana and learn the grammatic rules at the same time. I got better by the end, but my grade was far too low and they wouldn’t promote me to the next level on good terms
Still if you give me a manga now I can read it out loud with only a slight idea of what is going on in the dialogue. I’ll get back to it and study for myself since I still have my text books and old homework assignments once I’m done with this semester.

              • Oh wow, that’s really sad. D:

I couldn’t take Japanese until I went to college (and even then, because I went to a community college that didn’t offer Japanese, I had to drive an hour just to get to class. During my second year they scheduled the classes MTWTh *shakes fist at scheduler*).

In my area, Japanese language classes aren’t the classes that get filled up the quickest (actually I should change that. There were plenty of people taking 101, but in the 202 class? Pssh. Maybe like 10-12 people tops?). Sometimes if enrollment is too low, classes can be cancelled, which is a real bummer for the people trying to take 202, because they’re the ones who are actually serious about learning the language.

So, we didn’t learn any kanji in my 101 class, we used the dreaded romajii that purists hate (I hate it too, come to think of it xD), but the whole point of all that was to prevent what happened to you: scaring off good prospective students too early. I’m really sorry that happened to you.

Even though you’re not taking a class, learning the kana and maybe even a few common kanji if you’ve got the time is something that you can do easily in your spare time. Here’s a website I recommend to beginners. https://www.msu.edu/~lakejess/kanjigame.html I don’t really use this anymore, but it’s a fun little flashcard game that really did help me learn kana and a few simple kanji before I took formal classes. Whenever you pick your Japanese studies up again, you’ll be ahead of the curve! =D

It takes a while before you can read manga by yourself. You really need at least two years of classes (or just a massive session of learning grammar on your own) in order to understand how to interpret what’s written on the page. Even then it’s hard. I’ve been studying for 3 years now and I’ve only recently been able to translate things for myself. And there’s always some little odd usage of language that I’ll end up obsessing about because I can’t find the answer. I bought this book for something to read. It’s called Benkyou girai ga hajimaru hon. Now, I still can’t tell you what “girai” means. I understand what the title is saying. I understand what the book is about. But I have no idea what “girai” is. In the new xxxholic chapter, I was too eager to find out what they were saying so I translated most of it so I’d get the gist of what was going on, and I still don’t understand what Doumeki said when he was slurring his words at one point. xxxholic is really bad with slangy Japanese (at least for what I’m used to). 喰いさえすりゃあなって what?! suryaana? What the hell is that? D:

                Sorry, this post got kind of long ^^;

                • It’s not long, i understand what you’re talking about. I actually am really good at languages but I’m horrible at studying and have little patience for it. I learned faster by watching anime and not having it subbed than sitting in class and having a lecture. I’ll get back to it when I have more free time, I really did enjoy japanese, even though I did so bad at it. It’s fun talking to people at school (we somehow have a lot of japanese exchange students in this college) in their language, we get to practice.

                  • Still, there are certain things you really need to learn in an academic way (most everyone does, although there are always exceptions). I find it hard to imagine learning the whys and hows of grammar from watching anime which is really the main focus of studying in a classroom.

Here’s another website you may find interesting in case you want to learn about grammar, but are still unenthused by the classroom. http://www.guidetojapanese.org/ I still use it myself if I want clarification on a grammar point.

                    Like

                    • I use the songs to animes more than the actual shows to get around. It’s mostly because I memorize vocabulary better through association than by memorizing translated words. 本=Book 私=I くるま=car etc.
For grammar and actual structure my text book was and still is my friend. And I will return to a classroom once I can take Japanese as a free elective rather than a GPA altering course.

particles and I never got along well, so I will most certainly be reading through the second link for more help with that.

THAT is the best statement about TRC ever!!!! This is madness!!!!

I’ve still not ‘heard’ the ODA but I liked they animated celes, since I was not expecting it, I liked it. The animation was a bit better than in revelations, that was a good thing too. Tomorrow I’ll give you a final opinion.

      • It lost their credibility.
SO TRUE!!!! yup, bieng a Sakura or a Syaoran is too common, it wil be the main Clamp joke forever, any new character they may create will be born under the shadow of probably being a Sakura or a Syaoran… SO SAD!!!

ODA: I still liked it, but the voice acting lacks emotion and strengh, like it did in revelations…. it was better when I saw it in silence at job XDDD But the main flaw is their inhability to draw Seishiro and Fuuma right…. They seem to have learnt to draw the main cast though, Fay is only wrong a few times and Kuro is the best Kuro animated ever…. Celes makes it special for me, next part does not seem intersting at all….. it is 2 parts right? or 3? Because they won’t end it in 2 parts…..

Even the script did not please me, I’m afraid.

That’s why I think CLAMP should give everyone dinosaurs with lasers and power to destroy 9001 universes with just a punch, get everyone be dubbed by Samuel L. Jackson and put Dragonforce as the soundtrack. HOW AWESOME WOULD TSUBASA BE

I think what made TTR more amazing was the fact that X characters appeared in it; and at the same time not too much plot was skipped (only Rekord Country), but for Shunraiki, Inifinity and Celes were both skipped. I really like Kajiura Yuki so the soundtrack didn’t bother me much, although I think the OP/ED should’ve been switched.

I don’t understand that. I know I’ve seen Sakura’s name written in hiragana, but I’m still unsure as to why.

To be honest although the animation wasn’t as good as Tokyo (though some pictures in the OAD looked AWESOME), I was mostly pleased with it. I do admit it was kinda rushed and it’s hard to explain things that happened a world or 2 ago. The only thing that PISSED me off was the fact that “Syaoran”, I believe, gave away the major spoiler about his and Kimihiro’s relationship.

It’s bad enough to milk the CCS cash cow by making the main Tsubasa characters look like older versions of Sakura and Syaoran. But, then you go and screw with the couple by making them have a kid, who they ship off to uncertain doom. And now THIS?!
Just because you’re CLAMP doesn’t mean you can go ahead and give the finger to your fans. If it wasn’t for Kobato, I would have given up on you a long time ago… >___<

I must say that the oad was a … dissapointment ¬¬

  25. This is so confusing!!!

I can’t believe it: THOSE TWO IN THE TUBE ARE ACTUALLY CCS SAKURA & SYAORAN!

    Let’s see:
Yuuko is actually on the brink of death, but her time was stopped, for what reason??? Is it for THAT future(whatever it is)??? And I had some kind of idea that she grants wishes and gets payment to collect many treasures and stuff them in her storeroom to hide the existence of the tube thingy from Watanuki, I suppose.

So, CCS Sakura and Syaoran used their magic to turn back their time for the sake of their children. Would anything happened to their children if they don’t do so??? In conclusion, there are 3 people(CCS Sakura, Syaoran and Watanuki) who sacrificed something for the sake of THAT future.

WHAT KIND OF FUTURE IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IT NEEDS CCS SAKURA AND SYAORAN TO SUFFER!!!!! It’s so painful to see them separated by that fragile-looking glass and cannot do anything except watch each other’s sad faces. And Yuuko said that those two had separate feelings, what does it mean???

Or maybe, those two in the tube aren’t actually CCS Sakura and Syaoran, but the Syaoran Jr. and Sakura of Clow… Maybe I’m wrong.

  26. Looks like it was no joke when you said you were disappointed with the OAD. To me, it was better than I expected (like everyone said in the preview commetaries..). Thats probably because the trailer showed some of the worst images of this ova. Here are some impression of mine.

-The Opening and the ending of Tsubasa: well compared to the Holic Shunmuki OP and ED this is much better to me. The OP has some pretty background, and has definetly more Action than the one in Holic, where we can only see shadows. The ending..well animation wise there is nothing, BUT the song is surprising good. When I first heard this song in Youtube I hated it. But the beat…after having watched this episode it just fit somehow to the action in the flashback-images..and just now I’m listening to it. FictionJunction’s songs are something that are bad when you hear it the first time but sounds better the more you listen to it. The same goes to one other artist as well..(can’t remember the name). And com’on, this OP is definetly better than the TokyoRevelation one?

-The animation: There ARE indeed some horrible animated scenes but as a whole, the animation was great. Greater than the first episode of Tokyo Revelation. (is it just me or does the colour of Fai’s hair has a slide different colour?) Fuuma’s character design/animation was both here and in TokyoRevelation simply awful. Seishirou was surprising ok in the most scenes. Aside from these two, I don’t have much complain of the characters animations. It’s still not better than the 3rd episode of TokyoR though, but I can be satisfied. (people who say the TV-Animation is in any way better than any Ova-parts ARE lying).

-Surprising was as well, how many flashbacks of the Celes World there are. And these are, in my opinion, just those scenes that are worth it animating. When I heard that the Celes World won’t be animated, I was thinking of those scenes I would’ve liked to see animated. And here they are! So I’m pretty happy with the flashbacks :]

Shaoran was pretty messed up in one scene…I wonder how he can still stand after that attack…

-the soundtrack: I never liked the soundtrack pretty much since the TV-Animation, especially when Beetrain tried to fit the animation to the music so much that they drag some scenes endlessly… But ok, I happy that this terrible mistake never happens in the Ovas..In this Ova the soundtrack didn’t pretty much annoy me. It was ok…(as long as they don’t use to much of the Soundtrack)

Tomoyo was voiced by Maaya??! O_o What a surprise. It sounded not bad, I guess.(She just didn’t fit to Chi in Chobits.) But wtf? Fai sounds gay? I find him WAY “gayer” in TokoyRevelation and in TV-Animation. His voice is now darker. And shaoran’s voice annoyed me as well since the beginning of TV. But he became better here.

All in all, aren’t you greatful that the animation didn’t end up like the little scenes of Tsubasa we saw in the Holic Shunmuki? I wonder why they just couldn’t take some scenes of the original Tsubasa Ovas in those little cut-scenes…

But I haven’t seen much Anime lately, so that could be the reason. Especially when you just saw some awsome animations somewhere else..

To the chapter: I am surprised like everyone here, I guess. Since some time I have stopped guessing what comes next. It’s still not nice to know how terrible my lovely little pair of CCS end up…Not touching each other…I remember the last scene of the CCS Manga: “Now nothing can torn us apart ever” said Sakura-chan. How sad. The little confusion with the clothes was always there. It’s just not logical. But else…They casted their magic on each other because the magic can’t be used on oneself I guess. And it’s Yukito, but who cares? The “blood relative” one was pointed to Toya, and I can imagine how Toya and Yukito both went to the shop to give it to Yuuko. The turn back time is not very clear to me as well. Someone explained it pretty well here: They did it so Watanuki doesn’t disappear because his son made his choice. Why can’t I believe that this is the only reason? There is definetely much, much more to it.

Sakura was written in hiragana? I didn’t know that. What is the clone Sakura and the Clow Sakura written in, then?? (what is hiragana again?small letters?)

    Like

    • Little correction of mine: Fai doesn’t have a different hair colour and the animation is better than the second episode of TokyoRevelations and not the first one. In the first one there are very good scenes. My favorite one is the fight scene between Kurogane and Kamui.

    • No, unfortunately it wasn’t a joke, I really did not like it =/

Something that I learned with these OADs is that, they DEFINITELY don’t spend much time doing OPs and EDs. TTR, Shunmuki and Shunraiki ALL have very simple OPs and EDs xD

I liked TTR one, I liked the magic circles. Shunraiki’s OP didn’t bother me ^^

I’m happy for you, that you liked it, but it’s no use to me, I didn’t like the animation, personally I don’t consider it as “good” animation, but that’s just me ^^

This would all be very weird normally, but it makes sense now that we know that that Sakura was the CCS Sakura, whose name was spelled with hiragana.

  29. Chapter 216 makes me really glad that I’m a KuroxFai fan. I don’t really care about anything else going on in the plot so my brain didn’t break while reading it =D

    The OAD:

I really don’t think it was AS BAD as some of the people here are saying. Yeah, there were some god awful moments (the scene where Fai’s crying over Kurogane? Epic fail– he doesn’t look half as devastated as he did in the manga and WTF was up with Tomoyo patting his head instead of stroking his cheek? That looks horrible!). I did think that all of the main cast had their glamor moments, though.

I wanted to punch Mokona. I really think she’s so very cute in the manga, but when she started screaming Syaoran’s name it was like nails on a chalkboard.

    I liked that they included a scene of Ashura– I like his character in TRC and his fatherly relationship with Fai. He didn’t get enough airtime, imo ;_;

Overall, I made the best of it. My expectations were already really low, so I was surprised and very happy that it came out as good as it did, even if it’s not perfect.

I’m actually kind of curious though– I wonder if this one was so rushed because the second OAD needs more time to be worked on? I was thinking– they could go two ways with it. They have to finish up the dream scene where Sakura dies, and the last bit of Nihon, and that’s where it could split.

I think they’re trying to follow the manga moreso than not so I think it’ll actually go to Clow from there and probably end off right before the final battle. The other option is for them to use the last few days of Nihon (which they didn’t show in the manga) as filler.

I hope they show some of Clow. (If they animate chapter 185 my inner fangirl will be fulfilled).

  32. Your question: Who build that tube? It was given to Yuuko so it wasn’t hers. Sakura and Syaoran themselves?
My opinion: Maybe Sakura and Syaoran themselves built the tube. They have power to do that. And they they could ask Touya and Yukito give them to Yuuko. Yuuko said she hasn’t met them in person, but she know about them. She even received the price from CCS!Sakura which sent Syaoran Jr. to Clow Country. And they know about Yuuko too. Which means there’s a third person that is the intermediary between them. When I said that, I think of CCS!Eriol. Who else could know lot about Clow-thing beside him?

  33. Your question: Since when Yukito is blood related to Sakura and Syaoran?
My opinion: Yukito is Yue who was created by Clow who is Sakura and Syaoran’s ancestor. So basically, he’s related to Sakura and Syaoran (as master and servant maybe). Also if I forgot to told the canon between Touya and Yukito. Yukito probably married into Touya’s house. Brother-in-law maybe. Though the blood relative mentioned in the picture only is Touya, but if there were no Yukito beside Touya, it would be disturbing.

  34. Your question: Why Syaoran’s magic circle is beneath Sakura and, on the other hand, Sakura’s magic circle is beneath Syaoran? Are each of them casting their magic on each other?
My opinion: I think so. Because they wanted to be in the place that they could be closed to each other but could not be able to touch each other. If they cast on themselves by their own magic circle, it may not work. So it better to cast magic on each other. But it’s sweet that way, just like put each other magic on each other so that they could feel each other.

  35. Your question: Why their “selfs” have the same clothing as TRC!Sakura and TRC!Syaoran? I can understand Sakura because it could represent her pure soul but Syaoran? Why clothes exactly like Clow country? And he looks beat up too, on the top.
My opinion: I think that CCS!Sakura also foreseen this in her dream. Yuuko once said althought there’re people who look alike in different dimensions, they are different, yet their souls are the same. Maybe Princess Sakura of Clow Country and CCS!Sakura have the same souls. Or maybe because they thought about Syaoran Jr. who lived in Clow Country, so the magic automatically converted their clothing the same as TRC!Sakura and TRC!Syaoran. Or maybe CLAMP want to confuse the reader at the begining so CLAMP just let like that. It’s not strange if the parents have the same clothes like the children.

  36. Your question: Why are the surroundings falling apart? Where were them back then? At the shop? What’s with the geometrical background? Was the shop falling apart once? Or were they elsewhere and after that incident they were moved to Yuuko’s shop?
My opinion: First of all, I want to say that the world of the tube and the world of the shop is different. Or I can say it was another dimension inside dimension (just like dream inside the the dream) (just like the tube was place inside the shop) I think the time when CCS!Sakura and CCS!Syaoran moved themselved into the tube is when Syaoran Jr. made his second wish to turn back the time. Because at that time Watanuki is 7 years old same age as Syaoran Jr.when he turn back to his child self. After they moved into the tube, Touya and Yukito brought the tube to Yuuko. Fei Wang said the Yuuko’s place is the valley between the life and death and was frozen in time. When Syaoran Jr. made his third choice to take Little Princess Sakura’s hand, time began to move and those who’re dead have been called back. That’s why the world which only soul goes begins to fall apart. Because the shop’s world falls apart, so does the tube world.

  37. Your question: Where is Sakura flying to? She can’t go nowhere in that small tube.
My opinion: Didn’t she already fly to Syaoran Jr.? Because the tube world is the dream world so nothing is impossible.

  38. Your question: What is that other tube where the soul of the “original” Sakura cloned by Fei Wang supposedly went to?
My opinion: I don’t really get the question. What do you mean the other tube. I thought there’s the only one tube in the world. Because Yuuko said inside the tube is the world of dream. And also didn’t the soul of the Clone!Princess Sakura disappeared already? About the soul of the original Princess Sakura, I think it was the Little Princess Sakura. Remember what Fei Wang need is the body engraved with memories of dimensions which is the body of Clone!Princess Sakura, the magic power stored through the ages at the water’s bed which is the feather that Clone!Princess Sakura left at Tokyo and the true being with the capacity to inherit both which is the soul of the original Princess Sakura. As far as we know in CLAMP world, it was the soul that holds the control of the body, not the body controls the soul. Like in Tokyo, when Sakura’s body returned to her soul not the other way.

Sorry for being such a lurker. But I just had to say something now, aside from the token “WTF is CLAMP trying to do?”

Re Shunraiki: Why oh why did they skip over Celes and Infinity? (cries in a corner)

The events of 216 just pretty much encourage insane speculation…and is it just me or is there something wrong with LittleSyaoran, who is an exact duplicate of DaddySyaoran, trying to save an exact duplicate of his MomSakura? Creepy.

Right now all I have in my brain are insane theories. I’ve noted you like insane theories, so here are seven–and what scares me is, what if one of these comes true? Have fun…just wanted to lighten up the mood since everyone (myself included) is pretty much peeved right now.

    1. FWR is Watanuki, all grown up, and punishing everyone in sight for what he went through LOL.
    2. Tsubasa Sakura and Syaoran are actually clones of CCS Sakura and Syaoran…and with that the clone count is up to infinity.
    3. FWR is trying to separate Tsubasa Sakura and Syaoran because, man, that is incest.
    4. Yuuko is a female clone of Watanuki from the future.
    5. CLAMP is gonna pull a REALLY cheap trick: Yuuko is dreaming all this. Nyaaah, nyaaah.
    6. Everyone is descended from Kurogane and Fai. Fai is actually a woman (Fruits Basket much?) FWR is screwing everything up because he’s Celes Ashura and didn’t get the girl.
    7. Fai is Watanuki and Kurogane is Domeki.

I’m going to go take my tranquilizers now. 😀

Oh and I loved your cover!

umm … What is going on? I’m reading xxxHolic only for a while, while ignoring whatever is happening in TRC, and then in recent xxxHolic chapters I was missing Yuuko, and had a hinch that she was at TRC, and then VOILA there she is X____X
I can only flip through a couple of chapters of TRC, and I get more and more confused.
There is no cure for my pathetic state T___T … What is going on in TRC and xxxHolic. I need an answer, please CLAMP!
