CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 further reports

Here’s one last (?) round up of reports from the CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 event I was able to gather from several sources.

– The XXXHOLiC OAD screening was cut after 30 minutes or so and the message “continues on the DVD out March 9” was shown.
– “XXXHOLiC Rou” is over, for the time being.
– Ohkawa asked the other CLAMP members how they felt regarding XXXHOLiC ending. Mokona said she’s “relieved” (as in, after running a huge marathon), Satsuki and Nekoi said they want to reread it because for the moment they are a little confused about it.
– OAD Director Tsutomu Mizushima wanted to come to the event but was unable to.
– CLAMP asked the audience who was the main character in XXXHOLiC: Yuuko or Watanuki. CLAMP thinks it’s Watanuki, Tsutomu Mizushima thinks it’s Yuuko.
– They don’t think Doumeki is “ikemen“, same as they don’t think Watanuki is “bishounen“.
– When the last chapter of “Rou” was finished, they celebrated drinking until morning even though they had to work on the following day.
– They mentioned the episode in France where CLAMP were asked about the lack of kissing scenes in their works. The kiss between Hana and Chikahito was a response to that.
– Hana’s gender was also discussed. The majority of the audience thinks she is a girl, but there were also those who thought her as genderless. CLAMP didn’t said anything, though.
– For GATE 7 color illustrations, first they draw and paint the characters using analog instruments. Then they scan the picture and background and other effects (flowers) are added using CG. You can check this more clearly on the picture of GATE 7’s gallery in CLAMP-NET.COM’s report below.
– CLAMP said that they want to do more events of this nature and art exhibitions in the future.

CLAMP NEWS !!

– Next scheduled chapters (red means new):

02/04 – Jump SQ #03 – Chapter 1 – Color pages, GATE7 will feature the magazine cover.
03/04 – Jump SQ #04 – Chapter 2 – Color pages.
04/04 – Jump SQ #05 – Chapter 3.

It’s worth mentioning that CLAMP considers this Chapter as Chapter 1. According to the french publisher KAZE, which published the GATE7 oneshot in France, the oneshot won’t be carried in the tankoubon.

• TV Appearance:

GATE7 will be featured in the TV show Saki-yomi Jan BANG!, the show airs every week on TV Tokyo and is centered to Shueisha’s Jump magazine and manga brand.

GATE7’s segment will air on the February 4 episode.

CLAMP-NET.COM mentions that the show will feature both CLAMP and GATE7. Will CLAMP members make an appearance as well? I hope so!

With Kobato.’s page increase in Newtype, I’m predicting volume 6 will be released around July-August, if no breaks are taken.

• Event:

Probably the most important news of today, the special page of CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011 at CLAMP-NET.COM was updated revealing the new illustration that will be featured in the A2 size poster to be sold exclusively at the event:

The two-days event will take place on February 5 and 6.

May I say that I (obviously) LOVED the illustration? I was expecting a crossover illustration! So happy to see an “updated” illustration of CLAMP’s characters. Tsubasa gang wearing their ultimate clothes, Watanuki in his ultimate self, the GATE7 cast (clearly visible as CLAMP’s front work) and so very happy to see Kamui (and his wings) and the Gouhou Drug duo =)

CLAMP New Year’s Greetings

Traditionally, every year CLAMP and other japanese artists give their New Year’s Greetings by drawing something related to the correspondent animal of the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. According to the Chinese Zodiac, the year of 2011 is the year of the Rabbit, therefore Tsubaki Nekoi made an illustration of GATE7’s main character, Hana, with rabbit ears:

Satsuki Igarashi posted this picture of CLAMP’s cat, Kakyou, with rabbit ears:

All CLAMP members wished a happy new year =) Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi both mentioned that 2011 marks the beginning of CLAMP’s new work (GATE7) in a long time.

As for how they spent their holidays, they went back to Kyoto for another data collecting trip for GATE7 (pictures of their trip are available at this LiveJournal’s official twitter channel). They stayed in Kyoto during Christmas holidays, but returned to Tokyo in time for New Year’s.

• OAD:

The ending theme song for the upcoming XXXHOLiC Rou Adayume OAD will be “Gomen ne.” (“I’m sorry.”), performed by Tiara. The song will be included in the singer’s 2nd album, Tears, to be released on February 16. CLAMP-NET.COM describes the song as a “medium ballad”.

• DVD:

Here are some pictures of the XXXHOLiC Kei DVD Box. The set will come with 3 DVDs, Discs 1 and 2 will have 4 episodes each and Disc 3 with 5 episodes (13 episodes total). The set will also come a XXXHOLiC colored illustration with reproduction of CLAMP’s signatures. The illustration was first published as the cover of the May issue of Animedia magazine in 2006.

The XXXHOLiC Kei DVD Box will be released on January 26.

CLAMP NEWS !! (not really)

I know we’re going through difficult times, but please hang in there everyone, I’m sure things will get busier in the CLAMP sphere soon enough!

Much like the previous updates, there are no news this time, only new chapters confirmed for Kobato. and XXXHOLiC.

– Next scheduled chapters (red means new):

09/10 – Newtype #10 – Drop. 22-B (on sale).
10/09 – Newtype #11 – No Kobato. scheduled.
11/10 – Newtype #12 – Drop. 23.

Still not 100% sure about it but I think Drop. 23 is the beginning of tankoubon 6. But not sure…

– Next scheduled chapters (red means new):

09/09 – Bessatsu Shonen Magazine #10 – Chapter 208 – 4 color pages – Beginning of tankoubon 19 (on sale).
10/09 – Bessatsu Shonen Magazine #11 – Chapter 209 – Fukusei Genga application service.

Truthfully, I’m not sure about Chapter 208 being the first chapter of tankoubon 19 either…

You can check samples of the XXXHOLiC 2011 Desktop in CLAMP-NET.COM. It was planned by CLAMP’s management company, Pyrotechnist, and features black and white illustrations by CLAMP previously used as title pages for XXXHOLiC chapters.

No news on today’s update of CLAMP-NET.COM. Therefore, I’m just gonna repeat here the schedule for Kobato. and XXXHOLiC:

There will be an application service along with Chapter 209 that will give away a reproduction of an illustration. Whether it’ll be a new illustration is still not known (although I would say it is).
