Volume 5 of XXXHOLiC Rei climbed to the 12th position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 23,552 copies sold in its second week of sales for the regular edition. The Special Edition (CLAMP x SOUND THEATER Blu-ray) did not appear in Oricon’s top 30.

It is always worth mentioning that Oricon only takes into account a certain number of shops and preorders are likely not taken into account. These numbers are only an estimate and it’s possible that the real figures are higher than these, considering volume 5 was available for pre-order for a very long time.

Considering these numbers alone, they represent the worst week 1 and week 2 sales for a XXXHOLiC Rei volume.

I must say I am a little surprised… I expected the figures would have been better for week 2, not gonna lie. I’ve been getting reports from people who are in Japan who told me that XXXHOLiC Rei is among the best sellers in certain bookstores. This must be due to pre-orders, I would say… I know for a fact that the Special Edition was particularly hard to get for a little while before the actual release, when it got re-stocked.

I honestly don’t know if we will be seeing it again on next week’s ranking…
