Here is the PV for the brand new TV Anime adaptation of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~:
The first episode will air on January 7.
So, what did you all think? I’m not sure I like the CG work and all the rainbowness of it. And there is a bit of haze effect here and there too. Fingers crossed the rest will be good.
RELEEEEASE!!!!! ❤ omg I can't say how excited I am to see the anime!! I've been grinning like an idiot ever since the news of the release date came out. 😁😁
I think i prefer how sakura look in the anime compared to the manga tbh. The too young for 13 style doesn't sit right with me in the manga but in the anime she certainly looks 13. (although the manga art is still lovely!! )

I agree that she is looking a little older in the anime! At least we have that =D

I don’t know, IMO 90th animation is the best one in terms of dynamics and expressiveness. Here I see cgi in special effects and it hurts my eyes.

I completely agree. I wasn’t very excited with the preview, unfortunately…

I would guess the hazy effect will be in some key scene and not all over the place. There was some scene like this in the OVA, I think the TV anime will have about the same aesthetic.
As for light and rainbow effect, I would guess it will be restricted to magic scenes. I reserve judgement on it until I see an actual episode.

How do you feel about the rainbowness? xD

I can’t say until I see it in an actual scene, It looks more showy than the 90s CCS anime, but it’s not looking too bad. MadHouse make full use of the 21st century tools. There were these kind of rainbow effects when Kobato disappear at the series final. Also, there were rainbow light effect even in the 90s series when she captured or used the cards, it is just actualization of the magic routine.
Also, on hazy effect, I gave a look since my last post and saw there were these in the Death Note, Saiunkoku Monogatari and even Kobato’s series, all by MadHouse, and it didn’t bothered me for any of them. It’s just that we remember the 90s CCS series, I feel I will get used to it after a few episodes.

Yep, I do remember the rainbow effects on the final episodes of Kobato!
I like your positive point of view (sticks tongue at Alex :P)!
Jokes aside, it’s true that the haze unsettles me as well, but I also think (=hope) that we just have to get used to it, and it’ll be fine.

I rewatched Death Note recently and I don’t remember the haze being so intense. And the rainbow in the cards in the 90s series was fine. I just hope they don’t overuse it.

It will be hard to say before we watch an actual episode, as these are unrelated scene probably chosen for their awe factor. We can’t say yet whether the effects will look natural in the succession of the scenes or not.
I watched some Mouryou no Hako as well and there are scene even more haze intense than the CCS preview, I don’t remember them looking weird back when I saw the anime. Pretty much the entire episode 12 is in a rainbow haze if you want an easy pick.
Rereading the early chapters, the scene is with the rainbow light comes from chapter three. The rainbow effect would be from the shield the key created to protect Sakura against GAIL, so it probably won’t be there every time Sakura use her key.
