The third volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ debutted at the 1st position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 122,895 copies sold in its first week of sales. This is the first time a Clear Card arc volume reaches number #1 in Oricon’s weekly ranking.
The above numbers are for the regular edition. The Special Edition (OAD) debutted at the 23th position with an estimate of 33,084 copies sold.
Combining the sales for both versions, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #3 sold an estimate of 155,979 copies overall! That is twice as much as the figures of the first week sales for volume 2 and almost as much as the first week sales for volume 1.
It is worth mentioning that Oricon only takes into account a certain number of shops. These numbers are only an estimate and it’s possible that the real figures are higher than these.

Great first week sales for volume 3! This is probably going to reappear in rankings for the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
Great numbers!! 😀
I thought this volume would sell a lot thanks to the OAD, but ultimately, the regular edition did perfectly well on its own, what a pleasant surprise! ^___^
Plus, I believe this is also the first time that a special edition is in the top 50, and in rank 23 at that, that DVD really played a big role in people doing the extra monetary effort to get it!~
All is going just well with Card Captor Sakura! XD
And I shall once again declare I can’t believe there’s going to be only 6 volumes with such crushing popularity: +12! 😀

Actually the limited edition for volume 1 ranked 30-something in the first week. And I think most people pre-ordered the OAD version in fear of being sold out so they wouldn’t appear on this rank, which only shows the sales from this week alone.

Deeply pleased with this result for the first week, and surprised by how high in the ranking the Special Edition is!
That OAD really did wonders for the sales! Who knows, they might be doing something similar again, at a later time…like, what about an OAD about Syaoran’s time spent in HK? XD (I hear you screaming, Sherry)

There are limited things that can be included with a manga though, the ones I’ve seen: postcards, mini artbook, can badges, keychains, coasters, a tshirt, notebook/notepad/memo, stickers, bookmarker, a case to store several mangas, drama CD, DVD…
With the Nakayoshi 60th Anniversary Edition of CCS, they gave away digital content too…
Maybe a mini figure could make it, the size of the Banpresto ones (ichiban kuji). Or something like mini clearfiles, washi tape, pens, trump cards etc…
