XXXHOLiC Rei #4 will be released on October 6 and apart from the regular edition, a limited edition is also planned and it will come with the Blu-Ray of the 2005 movie XXXHOLiC: Manatsu no Yoru no Yume (XXXHOLiC: A Midnight Summer’s Dream).
The limited edition is up for pre-order at Amazon.co.jp for 5,400 yens.

This is kind of an odd limited edition to release (we’re past the movie’s 10th anniversary, this is only the 4th volume of Rei, etc.). How did the TWC limited editions do so far as sales go? Do you think Kodansha is trying to pump up interest in xxxHOLiC?

I haven’t seen any of the limited editions in the rankings so far. Well, *any* might be a little too radical. I would have to check the rankings but my memory is telling me that only the regular edition showed up.

Judging by the recent ranking, XXXHOLiC is going better than Tsubasa as far as sales go. So it seems the interest is already there, although it does seem that sales are slowly dropping for both Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC.
Well, Kodansha wouldn’t invest on this for the 4th time (7th if you count Tsubasa) if this wasn’t profitable.

Looking back, I guess Manatsu no Yoru no Yume is the last (preexisting) bonus Kodansha could include with the limited editions. Vol. 1 got Shunmuki, Vol. 2 got Adayume, and Vol. 3 got the original radio drama, right?
…I can’t believe xxxHOLiC Rei #3 was released over two years before the planned publication date for #4.

After this release, It not gonna be anything to release along with the limited edition T.T
But let’s be optimist about it. They can record another Drama, or even animate something new for Rei. That would be great! ToT

Good morning! That’s a good question! I’m sure that it will be compiled somewhere else other than the magazine but I’m not sure if it’ll be in volume 4. I will post this info in case I find out, sure 🙂

errr… this is random, but fits in with this post of releasing old things. was there ever an art book for tsubasa or xxx? if so, was a special manga chapter released with it?

Yes, one for XXXHOLiC and 2 for Tsubasa. I think the ones for Tsubasa had short stories. I know the first one had it for sure (I own it).

You can find the two Tsubasa artbooks on Amazon for cheap! Here’s Volume 1 in English.
The xxxHOLiC artbook can also be found on Amazon, but it’s out of print and used copies are ridiculously expensive. You’d be lucky to find one under 100 USD.
