On its second week of release, Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #2 climbed 4 positions, landing to the 12th place in Oricon’s weekly comic ranking, with 65.331 copies sold. The total amount of sales so far is of 121.140 copies in two weeks.

While this represents a small increase in comparison to last week’s sales, the overall sales after two weeks is even smaller than the first week of sales for volume 1 (127.643 copies).

These numbers are only for the regular edition. Numbers for the Blu-ray limited edition are unknown, however, they must be even lower since they didn’t appear in the top 30 ranking.

In case Tsubasa shows up again next week in Oricon’s ranking, I’ll post here about its performance.

Episode 4 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

This episode’s topic was Tokyo Babylon!

  • It looks like the KBS Kyoto staff people brought some alcohol to them ^^” They tweeted about it last week.
  • A listener sent an email asking them to recommend places in Kyoto (?) and also asked them to explain the show’s title.
  • On another e-mail, one listener proposes a different description for CLAMP other than “creative group”. Sadly I couldn’t understand their suggestion… (Ichiza? 一座)
  • It seems like they are making a sort of corner to read suggestions from listeners on how they should be described (other than “creative group”). One listener suggested something related to Seishirou which made all four of them to laugh (earlier today they tweeted something about this).
  • Moving the talk to Tokyo Babylon now, they talked about making the designs for the books and CDs — the latter seem to have given Ohkawa a bit of a trouble since she was in charge of it.
  • They talked about Hideaki Matsuoka’s Deja Vu — which was the song they played in this episode.
  • Then, they moved into all sort of nostalgic media formats such as Cassettes, LDs, Single CDs, all of which Tokyo Babylon had a release.
  • Each of them picked a memorable story from the Tokyo Babylon series. Mokona selected the “grandpa” story, Satsuki chose the Drama CD Book one (with Tokyo Tower), I couldn’t understand Ohkawa’s…
  • Then they ostalgic CLAMP events from the early 90s.
  • Lastly, they talked about the more recent Tokyo Babylon re-releases such as the pocket edition and the CLAMP CLASSIC COLLECTION edition. Then, it seems like Mokona talked about how Subaru’s story continues in X and then I think I sensed some awkwardness in the air since the manga is in hiatus… I would love to know what they actually said here. Pretty sure Ohkawa said “Please wait for it”. Update: Actually, here’s a brief summay of what they really said (by my dear friend Claudio Bochatay):

    • When they were talking and advicing people to buy the TB Classic Collection version, or the pocket versions, they mentioned that when reading the story you can see it was written many years ago since public phones are drawn on the street landscapes.
At that time there were many public phones on the streets because they didn’t have cellphones, Satsuki even comments that Subaru used beeper. And Mokona remembers that they even have drawn public phones in X scenarios as well (hearing this Ohkawa says “you’re right, they were looking for a public phone once!”.)
So Mokona instantly comments that “what would have happened if they had smartphones at that time?”, and Ohkawa replyied saying that “if they had smarphones at those days, most of the story-plots could have been solved too easily so it wouldn’t have been any good actually”
  • Next episode there will be the first guest. It seems like the guest will be singing the show’s jingle (the C L A M P, kuranpu~). My guess: Yui Makino.

These nostalgic talks are always so nice! I’m proud of myself of how much of a summary I was able to make for this episode ^^”

Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #2 sales report

On its first week of release, Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #2 debuted at the 16th position in Oricon’s weekly comic ranking, with 55.809 copies sold.

That is both very low position and very low sales numbers, however we must take into consideration the fact that these numbers reflect only for 3 days of sale (the release was on October 16 and the ranking goes from Oct. 12~18). We might have better overall numbers by the next week.

Also, these numbers are only for the regular edition. Numbers for the Blu-ray limited edition are unknown, however, they must be lower than 26.700 copies since they didn’t appear in the top 30 ranking.

For comparison’s sake, volume 1 sold 127.643 copies after 6 days on sale.

In case Tsubasa shows up again next week in Oricon’s ranking, I’ll post here about its performance.

Episode 3 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

To coincide with the release of volume 2, this episode’s topic was Tsubasa!

  • They started the show reading a listener’s emails saying that they were mistaken in las week’s episode regarding how many years have passed since Rayearth(‘s anime?). That was rather funny xD
  • Some listener asked them to elaborate about ShigatsuTsuitachi CO.,LTD., the company that sponsors the radio show. CLAMP explain that Sakura Kinomoto is the president of the fictional company (however I do think there is a real ShigatsuTsuitachi CO.,LTD. that is run by CLAMP).
  • They talked about their trip to Okinawa which served as inspiration for Nirai Kanai hen (they want to go to Okinawa again).
  • They talked about the GATE 7 characters appearing in Tsubasa.
  • Then they talked about the Holitsuba short comic that is going to be published in Weekly Shonen Magazine on Oct. 21st.
  • Finally, they mentioned that much like the special edition of XXXHOLiC Rei #3 came with a PLAYBUTTON, the special edition of Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #3 will come with a PLAYBUTTON audio drama as well.

As usual, if anyone would like to share their thoughts about what they talked about, that would be highly appreciated, even a brief summary would help!

…I still think this show is way too short ^^”

It seems that Card Captor Sakura isn’t the only CLAMP series to get a Blu-Ray re-release this Christmas.

NBC Universal Entertainment Japan (the same company that is bringing the Card Captor Sakura low cost Blu-Ray release) is announcing that they will be releasing a limited edition Blu-ray Box of the Chobits TV Anime series in December 25, 2015, costing 28,000 yens. The box packaging will be digipak.

The box will hold 4 discs containing all 27 episodes of the series that originally aired from April~September 2002.

This is the first Blu-Ray release for Chobits. Unlike the Card Captor Sakura release, only a limited amount of copies will be on sale for this one.

No word yet on whether CLAMP will contribute with new illustrations for this release. Update: CLAMP will be drawing a new illustration for the jacket! (Source: CLAMP-NET.COM).

This re-release is available for pre-order at CD Japan with worldwide shipping.

Episode 2 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

This episode’s topic was Magic Knight Rayearth!

  • memories from the time it was serialized in Nakayoshi.
  • the time Ohkawa and Nekoi were guests at a radio show where Shouko Nakagawa was one of the MCs (hostess) and she was a fan of Rayearth, particularly of Umi.
  • apparently at one point a live action CM for Rayearth was filmed? The Sega Saturn game live action CM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxN37elPpP0)
  • The Rayearth trump.
  • Mokona talks about making the storyboard for the TV Anime Series opening.

As usual, if anyone would like to share their thoughts about what they talked about, that would be highly appreciated, even a brief summary would help!

It seems like each week they will pick one of their works to talk about — which is great! They asked listeners to send their suggestions for the upcoming weeks. I can’t wait for they to talk about X ^^”

They were right, so far I am enjoying these more than their 2007-2008 internet radio, Komugikotoride no Yonshimin (from CLAMP-PLA.NET), in which they rarely talked about their works.

Zashiki Warashi trapped in a cage is our title page. This is a heavy Watanuki-Doumeki dialog chapter.

14 pages for this chapter — 98 pages so far for volume 4. I can’t tell when the next chapter will be published because the Chinese scanlations don’t say so, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it would be only in November. CLAMP have already stated on their radio show that XXXHOLiC Rei is going out monthly despite the fact that it’s running in a weekly magazine. Update: The next chapter will be published on November 2.

Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen Vol. 2 covers

The full covers of “Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai-hen” Vol. 2 have been announced!

The covers are from the regular and Blu-ray editions. The limited Blu-ray special edition contains the 2 episodes of the original animation “Tsubasa Shunraiki”. Both covers feature a new illustrations draw by CLAMP.

Both versions will be released on October 16!

Do I see a pattern here? The cover of volume 2 has the same visual theme as the cover of volume 1: clothes and background (and again Syaoran is holding that stick). I guess all Nirai Kanai covers will follow the same theme.

Both new arts look great!
