From Nekoi’s Private Board

In the midst of total lack of news, I bring to you today the last entry Nekoi posted in her Private Board of CLAMP-PLA.NET. The entry is at least quite intriguing.

But to understand why, you’ll have to read my story first…


So there I am, yesterday, after coming back from work, checking my usual sites, I step across the latest entry posted by Nekoi. The entry looked very un-interesting at first sight, but I still made my way to translate it. And to my surprise, there was a tiny little sentence that surprised me:

みんなが幸せでありますように

春です。
春は雪解けとともに幸せ感をもたらして
くれる季節ですが、色々な変わり目でも
あります。
出来れば、みんなが、幸せでありますように。
そう願わずにはいられない、
そんな時期です。

私ももっと攻めの姿勢で挑んでいきたいです！

It’s Spring.
Spring is a season that brings happy feelings because of the ice-melting, it’s a season with lots of changes.
I wish everyone as much happiness as possible.
I can’t stop wishing that, in such a time.

I, too, want to challenge myself even harder!

I’ll do my best this year as well!

(My japanese is awful and there might be mistakes on the first part of the entry, but I’m SURE of the last sentence because I asked someone with advanced japanese knowledge for a confirmation).

SO! I said at the beginning of the post that it was a very intriguing entry, right? The intriguing part comes here:

Today, while at work, I went to her Private Board again to work on the translation and post here in my LJ. But to my surprise, THE LAST LINE WASN’T THERE !!!!!!!! O.O

The entry was edited and that one line, the one that talked about GD, was CUT!

Why do I have the feeling that Ohkawa someone asked her to take it off? I only hope she did that to not ruin any surprises, and not because that is far from happening.

Now is up to you to believe my word or not. I swear to god I saw it XD I still have that one line because I sent it by mail to my friend (asking for a correct translation), but is nowhere to be seen right now at her entry.

After all these hints, if GD doesn’t come back this year I’m gonna kill myself

It’s still very nice to see how badly she wants to draw it again ^___^

          • If Sakura’s name is officialy written with hiragana.

            Why when Fay or Mokona say Sakura’s name is written with katakana?

            When clone!Syao had a heart and called her, it was with hiragana or katakana?

            At the beggining of Tsubasa when the tube scene Syao and he shout her name is with hiragana or katakana?

            It’s a bit long sorry ^^U

            • If I can answer this (I’ve been interested in this matter lately), CCS!Sakura’s name is always written in hiragana. The changes about TRC!Sakura’s name: in the tube scene, Syaoran calls her in hiragana. In the first chapter, he also calls her in hiragana without any honorific, but it makes him problems (he obviously feels uncomfortable with that). Touya calls her in katakana. Clow calls her in katakana. On the journey, pretty much everyone calls her in katakana (I believe C!Syaoran, too). Then R!Syaoran comes and he calls her in hiragana, without any honorific. Just like in the tube scene. (If you find it suspicious, feel free to join me! XD)

            • I know you’ve got some answers, but since you asked for mine, here’s what I thing.

              When CLAMP went to the PuriSute radio, a listener asked them why Sakura’s name was sometimes written in Hiragana and sometimes in Katakana.

              They said that Syaoran and everybody else always call her in Katakana because that’s the formal way (she’s Sakura-hime, after all), but that when he’s speaking about her IN HIS THOUGHT, sometimes he uses Hiragana, because that’s a lot more “friendly” way of calling someone. Since nobody is listening, he is free to say her name in the most passionate way.

              At this moment, when Ohkawa finished talking, everybody at the radio went “Ohhhhh” XDDDD

              Also, TRC!Sakura’s REAL name is written Katakana. That’s the way the calendar of CLAMP-PLA.NET refers to it. And it’s not just there, also in the Official Guide. I think because she comes from a “foreign” country, and also, it’s a way to differ between TRC!Sakura and CCS!Sakura.

              So, answering your questions:

              – Why when Fay or Mokona say Sakura’s name is written with katakana?

              Because it’s the official and most-polite way to call her.

              – When clone!Syao had a heart and called her, it was with hiragana or katakana?

              MOST of the times, he uses Katakana, because he’s either talking with her or about her with someone else. But, in some moments, when he’s thinking, he uses Hiragana. Or even sometimes when he’s too desperate to think about formality (like when he asks for Yuuko to save her, I believe).

              – At the beggining of Tsubasa when the tube scene Syao and he shout her name is with hiragana or katakana?

              Hiragana. It’s either the clone who got too close to her (or he’s too desperate to think of formalities and is shouting from the bottom of his heart), or, yeah, it’s Real!Syaoran ^^

                    -Character guide 1 English version (Viz)—>hiragana

                    -Character guide 2 Japanese version —–>hiragana

                    -Clamp no kiseki Japanase version ——->hiragana

                    -Clamp no kiseki Spanish version (Norma ed.)—->hiragana

                    Sorry, but it is in hiragana.

                • You’re welcome ! But Chitose-san said that in the Guide and CLAMP No Kiseki Sakura’s name is written in Hiragana, so I don’t know anymore xDDDD

                  Still, it looks like Katakana is the official one. Even her father calls her like that o.o

    • Vol. 2 is the best, IMO. Vol 3 seemed a little filler, and the drawings are very instable (damn you, XXXHOliC XDDD)

  8. That’s very interesting… I hope GD comes back. It was interesting. Not my favorite I can never even remember the characters’ names! but a good read nonetheless.

      Yeah! It’s some shots taken at the screening at CLAMP in 3-D LAND DEBUT! event. We can see Watanuki and Doumeki, Kobato, the X people and Syaoran & Sakura (TRC) ^___^ Ah, and Ioryogi too in the ED xD

      • I think it’s interesting and pretty too but there really isn’t enough of it that it captured my interest… or rather, it didn’t capture my interest until volume three… and then there was no more. I know there is a fourth volume but I haven’t been able to read it yet but still… I need more of it before I can really get into it, if that makes sense. ^^”

        Aww, no Kurogane and Fai? I want to see Madhouse!Fai and if he’s pretty. D: Do you know if the TRC scenes take place post!Acid Tokyo?

  10. I dunno, I don’t think the series is actually set to come back yet. Note that Nekoi doesn’t say “I’m so excited about drawing GD again!” or some such. She says she wants to draw it. Meaning, she isn’t/doesn’t know when she will again.

    If she removed it, I guess it’s still a sensitive issue for Clamp. I bet they were flooded with questions “when is GD coming back!?” when that went up on the board.

    • Oh yeah, I’m aware of that. In no moment I said that it will return this year. I just found the entry to be interesting since they rarely talk about the works that are in hiatus and I thought people would like to read thinks about them. And more than anything, I felt intrigued that that particular part was cut. And yes, I actually felt scared because it looked the return is FAR from happening. But then I remarked by saying that “It’s still very nice to see how badly she wants to draw it again ^___^”

I’m glad that Nekoi still wants to draw Gohou Drug =D I loved her art in the series~ I wonder if she was asked to removed spoilers…or if it was more to not give fans the hope that there would be more :X Either way I really hope that she continues it because I really really liked that series ;~;

    Anyway thank you for translating and sharing =D Maybe the GD boys being included in the CLAMP in 3D Land was also a hint towards them going back to it =D?

      Like we are doing right now xDDDDDDD She wanted to avoid THIS xD

      I don’t know if they’ll be back… she made a post before saying that this year she wish she could draw them, then we have GD at the short comic in Modern Mahjong, and after all, CLAMP said themselves they would return it “in the near future”. Maybe we are raising too much expectations ^^”

  16. I don’t know if they’re trying to hint that GD is coming back or it’s [i]not[/i] coming back. I hope it’s not the latter. I would have died and gone to heaven if it had said something like, “Yay, we’re drawing GD again!” and then taken off. That would so obviously be a surprise….a good one.

    • Yeah, that’s how I took this message, too. She just said that she wants to draw it again, how can that be a bad thing to say? They are either still making it a secret or she doesn’t want to create false hope in people.

    Semi off-subject, heh, but you might find it interesting. The “youni” at the end of her title makes the statement a kind of wish or prayer. If you listen on New Year’s eps of anime when the characters make their requests at a temple you’ll hear them say it. So it’s more like “I wish everyone happiness” or “I hope everyone will be happy.” 🙂

    Chapter 133
    Yuuko: To hinder Fei Wang’s plans, and for the sake of two futures. Don’t worry, the price paid by you and those people who did not want to lose him assure that this child will not disappear from your hearts. (Watanuki is injured)
    Syao: Thank you.

    Chapter 135
    Yuuko: I purify it then it will be handed over, so that neither of those two futures will be erased.

    Chapter 145
    Yuuko: So your wish is to be able to select the next world you go to.

    Sakura: Yes.

    Yuuko: To return to a world you’ve already visited, to even return to Clow Country or some other world you passed through, the price would be too big for that.

    Sakura: Where I want to go is not a world we already passed through.

    Chapter 146
    Sakura: But before that I will find Shaoran-kun. I’ll find him and decide on a different future from what I saw at that time.

    Chapter 149
    Yuuko: The worlds connected are Infinity, Celes and the world the princess wished for. The chances are 2 to 1.

    Sakura: Please don’t forget: the future can be changed from now on too. We made it on time. Don’t worry. My life will not disappear; it’s still here. I’m so sorry. Please take care of Fye-san, until we meet again.

  29. Interpretations
    – I am eager to find out what two futures Yuko keeps talking about. Sakura & Shaoran, Shaoran & Shaoran, Shaoran & Watanuki or else?

    – The world Sakura’s soul is going to is where clone!Shaoran is.

    – What could this world be? To maintain symmetry between Fye and Kurogane, since Sakura’s body is going to Celes, her mind might go to Kurogane’s Japan. Therefore, her body could be healed by Ashura and her mind could be helped by Tomoyo. The next world could also be xxxHolic, since Clamp says that from now on it would be more interesting to read both series in parallel.

    Or Clamp might have told that since some just because Yuko will give some extra explanations. But does xxxHolic counts as a world that Sakura has passed through since Sakura was sleeping back then? If her mind will go in xxxHolic, we must remember that Watanuki is able to see ghosts and that maybe Himawari inherit Sakura’s luck.

    What is strange is that the travelers have been to some worlds many times. For example, in the anime, they have revisited Chunyan’s country twice as well as the village with the god’s statue in the castle in the sky. Also, although I am not sure that that counts, Shara’s country and Shura’s country have been visited twice in the past. What Yuko says might mean that she cannot choose to go to a world she has already been through.

    – Sakura had foreseen Fye killing he, therefore she prevents the event from happening entirely and arrived to separate her soul from her body, probably thanks to her special powers.
    – Sakura says that she made it on time and that her life will not disappear. Therefore, she is not dead 😀

    Excerpts
    – Anime 4th episode
    The kindness that is able to reform even the heart of villains: that is Sakura’s true nature.

    – Chapter 66 → Yasha talks to clone!Shaoran
    Yasha : Even if you do not know who you are, even if others want to control your acts, continue to hope that your deepest wish come true.

    Shao: The fact that you consider Sakura over there most precious to you doesn’t come from my heart! It’s from you!

    – I wonder if Sakura will be able to make clone!Shaoran a good person.

    – Clamp often reminds us that the past cannot be changed, that dead people cannot come back to life, but that the future can be changed. Therefore, even though the travelers are still following the path that Fei Wang Reed had drawn for them, I think they can change that path.

    – All this time, the clone!Shaoran had a heart given by real!Shaoran

    Other interesting stuff
    – It seems that tattoos represent curses: The original Shaoran is kept asleep with a tattoo while there seems to have some correlation between Fye’s curse and Fye’s tattoo (that was holding back some of his powers).

  32. What a surprise! But I’d sure like them to continue Gouhou Drug. It’s fun to see how much Nekoi wants to draw more of it, too! But why censor it? I can’t come up with any good reason to erase it… It’s not like she said anything decisive or shouldn’t want to continue making a series of theirs. o_O

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! I´m really counting on GD to come back as soon as TRC ends (which at this point I´m hoping Holic won´t end with TRC but that´s another subject…XD)But it would be perfect, Kobato won´t take much time (even if the plots evolves) and they will have a lot of extra time to finish series… don´t you think? I need support (or help) in this idea (´cause is not a theory) XD

        I KNOW! XD You said it in past entries but what I mean is that I think/want Holic to continue a little bit more than TRC…

        And about Kobato what I meant is it won´t take much time in production, I mean that quantity of pages and being monthly will give a lot of time to do other stuff, and we know this girls don´t like to stay doing nothing, so what are they going to do next… I can´t wait to see *____* Finishing other series will be great too, but who knows, just like the Code Geass thing (that started being planned so much time before the series started) they might know right now what happens in the first chapter of their next series! *_____* (XD)

          Ohhh, that’s what you mean! Yeah, you’re right. Sorry for misunderstanding again ^^” CLAMP never work in only 1 series because they get bored of it xD So they will definitely continue the ones in hiatus and create new ones too!
