Gouhou Drug coming back, the total number of volumes for X, their eye-fetish, it’s all there…
Some of the questions that participated in our contest were there, like the eye one and the Live-Action one. I wonder if Koala-san managed to ask his question? O.o It’s not in the transcript. Or I wonder if he changed it… will talk to him later.
Highlights:
On a little different note, my right eye, the vision is not very good so maybe it’s just a personal thing that I can relate to such events personally.

Ohkawa Ageha: Live-action? Maybe it would be Chobits. I think within ourselves, we’re most interested in seeing that as a live-action. If Chobits were going to be live-action–made into live-action for the U.S. I would have strong preferences for the actresses.
Chobits, then? That would be fun… specially if it’s for the US. And I particularly loved to know that Ohkawa would have “strong preferences” for the actresses, means that they would be as involved as any other anime adaptation of their works. WB, Fox, Universal Pictures please see this !! XDDD
Question: Our viewers and readers have been asking about Legal Drug. What’s going on?
Ohkawa Ageha: No problem there. We will be resuming it in the near future.
This made my day ! BEST news ever *-* And she was precise in her answer, so I guess there really is no problem with it, anymore.
Since Tsubasa is linked to xxxHolic that dictates that Tsubasa and xxxHolic have similar proportions for the characters. It’s not that our characters get thinner and longer.
This proves for once and for all that CLAMP do not plan on keeping the same style, obviously.
Question: Regarding Kobato. Why did you guys change from the SundayGeneX to Newtype and then remove the story again? How will you work with Kobato?
Ohkawa Ageha: SundayGenX is where it will be serialized. For this particular piece it start with SundayGenX and they had specified a number of chapters in the series so we fulfilled that requirement and when it was decided to be restarted we went to a different magazine, Newtype.
I guess there’s a typo here, since it says Kobato will be serialized in Sunday GX, which we know is not true.
So it was supposed to be those 7 chapters at first to see how things would turn out, then I think the GX editors decided that CLAMP should restart the manga and then they moved to Newtype? Maybe they’ll have better conditions at Newtype?
Question: My chief-editor and I have been wondering for a long time when X will be finished and how many volumes are left?
Ohkawa Ageha: For X with the various things going on in Japanese society and everything, it’s unclear how fast we will work on it. In terms of numbers of volumes though it will match the number of tarot cards. For the U.S. publications the exact number of volumes may slightly differ due to the number of pages involved but for the Japanese-edition there will be twenty-one volumes.
Bah, unfortunately nothing new regarding X, unlike Gouhou Drug. But one thing we know for sure now: X will have 21 volumes in total. Which means that we still have 2 volumes and a half of story, YAY ! I really thought it would be 20 in total and the last card would come in a new version of the Infinity Artbook. But I guess the last card will also come in the tanks.

Anyway, thanks for the link & info 🙂 It’s all interesting to see, although a lot of it still seems very unclear (like the details about Kobato). Good news about Gohou Drug, but I’m surprised there’s nothing similar about Clover.

I always had a feeling that it’d be 21 volumes.
What I found most interesting was that xxxHOLiC’s art style dictated Tsubasa’s art style. I always assumed that Tsubasa came first in CLAMP’s mind, but I guess not. Yay for xxxHOLiC!
Chobits was pretty far back in my mind with regards to a live-action movie adaptation. It’d be pretty funny to see. (Honestly, I would’ve gone with something “easier,” like Legal Drug or “Suki. Dakara Suki” or something.)

Yes, I think XXXHOLiC came first in Ohkawa’s mind. She said that it came right after Chobits’ serialization was over, in one of Puff’s interview.

I agree ! Strangely enough, XXXHOLiC was my first call, or GD, since CLAMP mentioned earlier some japanese actors they think it would be cool to represent the characters of these works.
One of my dreams is to have a CLAMP work coming to Hollywood XDDD I hope it happens one day u.u

Since xxxHolic seems like it will end pretty soon, I’m going to guess that CLAMP will start Gouhou Drug back up after xxxHolic finishes. I can’t imagine them starting anything yet before either Tsubasa or Holic finishes. And Tsubasa looks like it’s going to take a lot longer to end than Holic >>

Oh no, please, I want GD to continue soon ! I think XXXHOLiC is heading slowly to the end too, but I’d say there’s still some 3~5 volumes for that to happen, and that’s more than a year of publishing @_@

I’m quite sure Kobato will start from 0. I don’t know if they’ll re-draw everything or just re-publish the chapters of Sunday GX.
I would say re-draw is a possibility because Newtype’s pages are wider, they have different measures, and CLAMP will need to convert Kobato into that style. But let’s see ^^

But, you know, i really prefer if they use another clamp work to do the real image movie- i wish somebody will doit- Don´t you think that holic is interesting enough? and with all the excitement that hollywood had recently acquired about japanese horror, i think its a good option.

Everyone asked fairly intelligent questions – that’s good. It would annoy me if CLAMP’s time was wasted with stupid questions.
That can’t be all of the interview – there’s no “closing” to it. Also, we know that someone asked about Fai and Kurogane too, and that’s not in the transcript.

Just one thing. I know that “The Fool” has been published on X´s Ze(phi)ro artbook, but isn´r there a chance that we also see it on the last book? That would make 22.
The position of the card on the deck doesn´t matter, since the fool can be the beggining or the end. You can find ir as number 1 or 22, depending on the deck. Maybe they could remake the card for the manga as a 22 to make the story a little longer.
Those are just possiblities based on facts, don´t take me seriously.

Well, I don’t think so. Because there are 22 cards in total, and Ohkawa said it’s going to be 21 vols in total. That means the one left is Zero, which was published in the first artbook ^^
Cards left are The Sun (19), The Judgement (20) and The World (21).

My, they’re answering questions and all!
There’s a Spanish saying that goes: “Menos da una piedra”, which means “It’s better a little bit of something than nothing”. That’s what I’ll apply for Gohou Drug and X (I always thought there were going to be 21 tank :P).
Now just let’s wait until they resume it (add to the Japanese society facts the one about them being busy with other things ^^U)… I think my grandchildren or greatgrandchildren will be able to see the end of X xD

The autograph section was held today, July 2nd, but I think they set fly to Japan right after that. I might be wrong, though.

I am SO SO excited for GD, but I am disappointed that X still hasn’t had a definitive ‘Oh, we’re going to start working on it soon!’ I appreciate working with potential climates, but that could mean X will be held off for years, depending on how world events go, I suppose.

Oh thanks so much for this. During the summer my internal calender is so off I completely forgot yesterday would be the 1st day of the Expo. I’m too excited about Legal Drug being continued that I can’t function. Like the last person said, I wish they’d given a more precise time frame for X. Although for LD – “near future” isn’t very precise either. I wish they’d mentioned where it would be continueing (and how long it would be).
I can’t remember (maybe you know?) that they’d mentioned that they either were like… a fifth of the way through. So… 15 volumes? Or is this my imagination…?

Indeed “near future” can mean MANY months, but only if you’re really mean XDDDD I hope their “near future” means 4/5 months at the max.
And you’re right, it was said on CnK that GD will have 15 volumes in total (a fifth of the way through, that’s what they said, yeah ^^).

Eu estava desconfiada pois não sei se vc percebeu que nas imagens do site CLAMP_PLA, Kazahaya e CIA estão dando as caras?! Eu achei que elas poderiam retomar… ^__^ Que felicidade! Mas espero que não demore muito u.u
Sobre o live, Chobits pode ser uma boa pedida… Dependendo da adaptação, produção… Eu, particularmente, não gosto de live-actions… Acho que estragam muitas obras (lembrando de Sailor Moon *arrepia*)… Eu não duvido nada, com essa onde de lives… Fora o interesse de Hollywood em adaptar várias obras (li um artigo sobre isso recentemente), e CLAMP só tem o live de TB por enquanto. é provável que pinte mais um… Eu acho mais coerente se fosse GD ou SDS como foi comentado, ficariam interessantes… Acho que as estórias mais “simples”, sem excesso de efeitos, ficariam boas ^__^

Agora vem me dizer que X não vendia?! Só sei que há shoujos nestas listas que nem aparecem na lista dos mais vendidos de todos os tempos… X esteve entre os 10 qdo era lançado e ainda entre os primeiros, mas não aparece naquela lista polêmica. Acho que o número certo, nunca será revelado mesmo mas ainda duvido que tenha vendido abaixo dos 300 mil…
Voltando ao nº de cartas, tecnicamente, faltariam 3… Como vc disse O SOL, O JULGAMENTO e o MUNDO. Outra polêmica é qual carta Fuuma seria? Muitos batem o pé por causa da imagem que aparece no vol # 18, que seria uma parte do cabelo dele. Então, muitos dizem que é O SOL. Eu acho que, como Kamui começa, Fuuma deveria fechar o baralho. O coerente seria O MUNDO. Uma coisa curiosa que percebi, só agora caiu a ficha recentemente, Fuuma tem características destas 3 restantes… Realmente, eu fiquei em dúvida p/ identificar que carta ele seria.
Eu tive uma sensação que X poderia terminar no vol 19 mas pensei, será que elas deixariam o baralho incompleto?! Comecei a acreditar que Fuuma seria a “compilação” das 3 cartas e que X se encerraria no próximo vol…
A Ohkawa falou agora que seriam 21 mesmo… Vc acha que rolaria muita coisa até o que seria o final de X?! Do jeito que aquele cap terminou, esticarai muito na minha opinião…
Peço desculpas se falei besteira, o cansaço deixou o meu raciocino um pouco confuso ^^’Mas como lembrei disso, não queira deixar de comentar…

Live Action pra mim só se for versao Hollywoodiana, realmente SM da arrepios e a maioria dos live actions são trashs e perdem toda a credibilidade do manga. Se for pra adaptar, tem q ser mt bem feita.

Realmente, X vendeu muito mais do q 300.000, é só ver esses rankings. Eu diria q X vendeu um poko menos q 10 milhoes.
Eu acho q ainda tem mt historia pra rolar… Eles ainda nem estavam lutando na Torre de Tokyo, e naum é possivel q depois de TANTOS sonhos eles naum iam lutar la. Depois, tem q mostrar ainda oq acontece com os personagens, resolver um monte de misterios, e gente pra morrer né xDDD

Concordo mas às vezes, até mesmo Hollywood faz umas bobagens ¬¬ Espero que qdo acontecer, que seja bem feito.
Tb acho que X vendeu por aí mas é um número que não dá p/ saber ainda. Só CCS ter vendido 12 milhões, é fantástico! E ainda por ser apenas 12 vols… Podem falar o que quiser mas CLAMP não é um grupo de um mangá só. Tem muito mangaká que encerra uma obra mas como não conseguem emplacar um novo trabalho, voltam a trabalhar no antigo…
Sobre os vol. de X, o que me preocupa é se CLAMP continua ou não. O que mata é esse hiato. Por enquanto, nada concreto ainda… O jeito é esperar mesmo u.u

Na verdade, são duas crianças. Pelo menos, estão assim no meu baralho e tb nos que andei vendo…. Mas vc me fez cair ficha agora. Poderia ser o Fuuma e Kamui crianças tb… Fiquei com vontade de fazer uma pesquisa mais profunda agora mas com a correria, não vai dar.
Fuuma é uma incógnita. A maioria tem características tão marcantes que de cara dá p/ identificar qual carta que é mas ele…
