CLAMP Photo Policy

For those who were EXPECTING to take photos and/or record CLAMP’s panel at AX, take a look at this.

Quoting them:
“ABSOLUTELY NO photography, audio and/or video recording of any kind allowed during the CLAMP focus panel. This policy applies to all attendees AND members of the press.”

I was expecting that at least the press would be allowed to (since it was, in Taipei’s Book Festival), so that Koala-san could record something for us… but unfortunately no ;__;

I think they know america’s reputation of putting EVERYTHING up on the internet XDDDD

  2. Their policies regarding their image are really strange O_o First they spend years without appearing in public, then they agree to show their faces in TV programs, sometimes you can take photos of them, sometimes you can’t… XD

    I can’t understand them, but well, their wishes should be respected, right?

    (well, at least sometimes… unfortunately I don’t respect that wish consisting on not using their artwork to make layouts u_u).

    My english sounds strange today ^^u

      You got it right XDDDDDDDDDDD

      I understand them for being that reserved, they have been stalked once and they don’t want any more troubles. Being in America is very different from Japan, people really put your image available in the internet without your approval, I think they want to avoid that.

      What is weird to me is, EVEN FOR THE PRESS?
      How come a press member without any recording device? O.o

  5. Someone sneak in some audio recorder at least! >.<
    *sigh* I was hoping to watch this on youtube from 20 different angles in crappy quality as everyone recordes from their phone.
    TAKE NOTES! If anyone can type as fast a people speak (and a lot of pepole can) take in a laptop! Or just write in short hand! We're counting on you! (I would go but I'm on the opposite side of the world -.-)
    I suspected this would happen, how annoying.

    • LOL! Word ! XDDD I don’t think they’ll look inside the bag of EVERYBODY O.o So yeah, just sneak in your mp3 player and press the “record” button and hide it somewhere no security member can see xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

        Together we are strong! They cant stop us all!
        Someone take in a mobile phone then call someone who can record and just hold up the phone :D.

    After that, let’s hope a really good answers there XD

  8. that was expected. american fans are vicious; not subdued or subtle like asian fans. and i’m sure that this is one of their biggest events overseas. it’s probably not polite or conducive for the panel to consist of hundreds of flashbulbs and recording devices to be going off in their faces.

    i’m sure one of the companies will have an official recording to stick on a dvd (if not, they are pretty stupid).

    • Yes, I so saw that coming, unfortunately. It took longer than I thought to come up a public announcement, though.

      What a real disappointment for the press, having to take notes or appealing to the memory…

      I hope think AX’s own press will take some pictures and make an official report, yeah, and I hope some of the sponsoring companies record it as well. Not fair, in Korea we had all those bunch of pictures u.u

      • sicaf was more a pro-venue like annecy.
        notice that there weren’t any awkward photos…like them drinking water or fixing their hair, so they must’ve only had certain press members allowed to take the photos.

        ax is more a fan-venue. like other anime cons, members of the press include random bloggers or random fans who run news websites. the press registration standards aren’t that high.

        anyway, out of respect for their wishes, i hope there aren’t people sneaking in stuff. it’s not like a photos of them will suddenly reveal the secrets to their manga.

        anyway, the interview will be the most interesting part.

          About sneaking in, it’s hard for me, I won’t be there, so I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t wish to “see” or “hear” anything. However, we have to respect their requests, as much hard they might be to us, but I think that if the material is used in a good way, there’s nothing wrong with sharing it for those who couldn’t go ^^”

  9. Are the honestly going to strip search everyone? Take everyone’s cell phones? Look at how much bootleg footage came out of E3… If someone was truely determined then there’s nothing that could stop them.

    The four companies involved in bringing CLAMP here are probably taping the thing themselves. For example, I can totally see Funimation taping it and putting it on the upcoming Tsubasa/XXXholic DVD’s as an extra feature. If so, then they’re using it as a copyrighted promotional material and well… you get the idea. I mean, it probably cost a pretty penny to get CLAMP over here. It wouldn’t suprise me if they want a return on it.

    • I agree xDDDDD They just do this kind of thing to avoid ALL of them of taking pictures and recording, but I don’t think they will stip search anybody either, I hope someone record it ;_; I mean, it’s such a small devide, nobody will notice it XDDDDDDD

      I hope they do put it on DVDs later ;_;

  15. They’re probably just being timid, this being their first time at a NA convention. Hopefully they’ll have a positive experience and become more open in the future. 🙂
