More info about Ohkawa-sensei’s participation on Tapei’s Book Festival.
She said she was surprised with so many fans that came to see her, they asked a couple of questions during the lecture:
The first one was, of course, about X’s serialization. It’s good for her to see that this is the top question. Anyway, she answered the same thing of Puff’s interview, that the continuation of the serialization is difficult because of the serious content (earthquakes and underage being injured) that may seem inappropriate to Asuka magazine, but that they will finish it anyway. Yeah, great, just when? u.u
The other question was regarding the name changes, which was a bit clearer than the other explanations I saw before. Apparently “Mokona Apapa” seemed too “mature” so Mokona opted for just “Mokona”. Nekoi was so often reminded that she shared a name with Rolling Stone’s singer, “Mick” Jagger xD that she changed to “Tsubaki”. As for the other 2, they just went with the flow of changing names, I think they didn’t have any specific reason. She said their 15th anniversary seemed very appropriate to make it happen.
Anyway the thing that caught my attention the most wasn’t any of those questions. The article I read talked about the fact that this was CLAMP’s first appearance outside Japan, and later on, it mentions that Ohkawa-sensei is due to visit South Korea on May and omg the United Stated on July !!! I don’t know if it’ll be just her or all the CLAMP members, but that’s great news !!! CLAMP is finally traveling overseas !
Who knows, maybe many of you can get a chance to see her *-*

Ah, AX is Anime Expo, it’s the anime convention held in Anaheim, California. They usually invite mangakas, seiyuus, and singers to come be guests =3 (you know, like all conventions do XD). So that’s why I was hoping it’d be AX, coz it’d help me decide whether or not I would go down to AX again this year XD

That’s a very hard question… you know how japanese are with english xDD But CLAMP members are so rich and so on fashion that maybe they do. Their website has some english stuff all around (on buttons and stuff), and they do everything on their site themselves. That whole english part on INFORMATION section, though, might not had been wrote by them, maybe they asked/hired someone to do that ^^
Even in their mangas, sometimes you glimpse some english here and there, you must know what it means to write it down xDDD
And ow, they listen to lot of american pop music XDDDDD So maybe yes ^^

I guess they can read, write & understand it. I hadn’t even thought about how all the Clow Cards are written in English ^.^ But I wonder how she’ll cope when it comes to hearing & speaking English… :3

It seems a bit weird to me that they should stop X one volume before the end because of the gore ^^;; I mean, it featured decapitated corpses, exploding bodies, and many other bloody and unhealthy stuff starting the first volume… Why oh why stop when they are sooo close to the end T____T?

What happens is that they are dealing with underage people. Before, all the bodies were from aged people. You may think “What about Kotori?”, well, that was BEFORE an event that occured on Japan on 1997 that left everybody SHOCKED. It involved some kids being badly injured.
That event is the main cause of X’s hiatus… like, “it would be too much of a shock to publish that after what happened on that event”.

yes they were supposed to come to a big french convention dedicated to mangas when i was in high school. it was the big event of the convention but it finally has been cancelled some weeks after the convention’s creators announced it. it totally killed me >______

oh no, do not worry i understand ^___^ only a very very few french webpages still exist with this info (i only found 2 and for one of them, it is only written when it is listed in google. when you enter in the website the page does not exist anymore) as it happened quite a long time ago now.
it was in 2000 (the french website i just talked above writes 2001 but i am sure it was in 2000, it was not during my last year in high school) and if i remember well, it was for the “Cartoonist”. sincerely, i can not say for sure if the Cartoonist’s creators said the truth or if they only wrote this to make even more people come, but they really announced the CLAMP’s coming.
Cartoonist is (actually ‘was’) the biggest and oldest french convention dedicated to mangas & animes and you can not imagine how many famous mangakas, character designers, musicians, actors… went there (a guy in my class even received a little drawing of Kamui made in front of him by Nobuteru Yûki ! i have been crying for month lol). and so this is why it is especially hard to be sure of what they can say until it is confirmed – and it is also the same thing with other french conventions such as JAPAN EXPO (the biggest now!)
but if it can reassure you, it was not the first time that kind of things happened. Masakazu Katsura canceled many times his coming in france and finally came in 2004 (to the JapanExpo). Tsukasa Hojo was supposed to come in 1999 but did not and same thing with Akira Toriyama who actually never came to a french convention…
but well, in 2000 the CLAMP were not here and the big guest was Narumi Kakinouchi, and i am still hoping the CLAMP will come one day…

Wow, that’s really cool. Too bad I will probably be saving $$ and won’t be able to see CLAMP if they do come. 😛 (It will be either the East Coast or West Coast they visit, neither of which are remotely close to me.)
Still, it’s neat that CLAMP will be visiting non-Japanese fans too. ^^ I’m sure they will get a very warm reception in America.
