It’s quite quiet these days, huh? So as we wait for CLAMP’s update on the 1st, I’ve got some tiny pieces of news and a couple of other things.
CLAMP on the ranking !
CLAMP is still on track on animate’s ranking, though it lost a bit of steam as XXXHOLiC DVD fell to the 6th position while Tsubasa’s one is off the list. It still a deserves a “way to go!” for the fact that it’s just the pre-sale.
Ohkawa’s surgical operation:
This information is a bit old in time but smells new for us. Reading through the old topics from Ohkawa-sensei’s private board at CLAMP-PLA.NET, Kasumi-chan discovered that Ohkawa had a surgical operation on her back around the end of November of the last year o.o
No panic, she’s all good already. I can’t say the gravity of the problem she had but I don’t think it was something too much serious, and it’s kinda of predictable that she would unfortunately suffer from that problem since she and all the other CLAMP members spend most (if not ALL) of their working time sitting, leaning their bodies in sometimes bad positions.
But we didn’t have many breaks beyond the ordinary around November/December, did we? Well, read that: Ohkawa asked for the doctor if she could work while in the hospital because they (CLAMP) had put their mangas on hold for health reasons before and they didn’t want this to happen again o.o” She bought her notebook to the hospital and fought against the medicines and treatments, all for CLAMP. My goodness, for one thing she’s great because that shows how serious with her work she is, but from another point, woman, give it a rest ! You’re overdoing yourself ! XD
Anyway, as I said, she’s already good (thank gosh), back to CLAMP’s studio ever since the end of November, I think she stayed at the hospital just for a couple of days (and if I’m not wrong, the only think she didn’t like was the lack of alcohol XDDD).

CLAMP’s mistake in one of the X’s pics?
I was flipping through my Infinity for the billion time and I noticed something I had never noticed before. There’s a mistake in one of the X pics, the one with Kamui, Fuuma, Subaru and Seishirou. Thank you, Tomoe-san for the image ^^
This is the image in question. Anyway, the mistake is that Seishirou’s blind eye is not the right one, but the left one o.o”
I’m sorry if this sounds dull for some people. I know the die-hard Seishirou fans must have noticed that ever since that image was first shown, but I just noticed xDD

My dear friend mudearies-san asked me to update his fotolog and so I did ^^ For that I had to post a pic, so I decided to do one myself. Hi,
well I have not seen the image, but could it be a mirror effect?? sometimes the people from print place (I’m so sorry I forgot the real name) makes mirror copies, maybe that is why Seishirou’s blind eye is on the left side.
I don’t know, its only a suggestion

I think it’s called “flopping”. At least, that’s when when they reverse manga so it reads left to right instead of right to left, like in Asia.
I think that might be a possibility too. I didn’t know it Seishirou and Subaru lost their right eyes in X (from reading the Viz releases) until I saw the originals.

That’s a smart thought, I also thought about it but it seems unlikely. Aren’t the artbooks supposed to show the original pics?
Also, I just mirrored on photoshop the image and it looks a bit weird… their hair are going in the oposite direction, it gives a weird feeling

Kamui’s eyes are blue, but CLAMP always change it’s colors to match the image… like Yuuko’s. It’s originally red but they changed into yellow, purple and many colors to match the image ^^
I also noticed the Karen image o.O I thought it was weird too…

I can understand Ohkawa-san working in the hospital though. I’d do it. >> Plus you’ve got to figure, it’s either that, watch soap operas, read random books, or listen to other patients. Not the greatest of selections. I’m glad all is well for her though. The no alcohol thing would weigh on my decision on how fast I got better in order to leave. ^^
I can’t wait for the movies. And it turns out, my bookstore is boasting that they’ll have both the movies in on the 25th. They might only be getting the normal editions though…but god knows I’ll be standing there waiting for the doors to open on the 25th anyway. ^-^’

Ever since Clamp hit it big and became mega-rich, I’ve wondered why they keep up their draconian work hours. I could understand if they wanted to keep on producing, since they enjoy the creative process, but why do they keep at the 1-day-off-per-month? Why do they still live together, have they never wanted families or lives of their own?
It’s not that I don’t respect their decisions, I just can’t understand that level of workaholicness!

I guess that first and foremost they love what they do and the money is only a consequence of it. I don’t think they do it only for the money, they really love what they do. And being a mangaka is really tiring, I don’t think they should be an exception.

I’m a lurker posting for the first time. I want to say I enjoy reading your news updates, even if I don’t really follow CLAMP’s work anymore. 😀
The X picture is interesting, because I bought a poster at a convention a long time ago with that art on it and thought it was a bootleg since it was flipped (even though it was a monster of a poster unlike the other bootleg posters ^^;;). I remember being very angry when I discovered Seishirou’s eye was on the wrong side, but now I’m wondering. Maybe they were so caught up in composing the picture they forgot the detail about his eye? xD;

Sorry I don’t have a better image, but Hikaru’s right foot has a sock while her left doesn’t, but oddly ridges of where the sock should be is on her leg. Pretty odd. I’m guessing CLAMP never caught it since this image was featured in one of the Clamp no Kiseki books.
Oh well, artists make mistakes. It makes them seem more human 😛

Oh, nice, nice wall! Sometimes simpleness makes things look great.
Regarding THE EYE affair, I think it’s probabli a mirroring question. They perhaps drew it the other way round and then mirrored the pic in order to ensamble it with the rest. Or, perhaps, it’s just a mistake, of course they can make some, the’re human (I think so) xD Or even it can be made on purpose, because “it was nicer”. Not big deal.
Luckily enough Ohkawa is all right. Definitely, spending a lot of time sitting down stresses a lot the back, and it can even cause injuries in the vertebral spine. Maybe she had it since a lot of time, too, and she didn’t realize until now. The question is that she’s all right and steady again!

About the image, it is not mirrored. CLAMP indeed made a mistake (and I’m not blaming them for that).
I’ll tell you why: I was discussing that subject with a friend of mine, he came up with a very interesting fact. On EVERY vest, shirt or T Shirt, the buttons are ALWAYS located on the same side. It’s located on OUR right and thereby, left for who’s looking at it.
Therefore, the part where there’s no button (the part where there are holes to fit the buttons) is ALWAYS upon the button side. This is a rule, you can pick any shirt of yours and check yourself xDDDDDD
Now look at CLAMP’s image. That rules applies. Look at Subaru or Fuuma. On both’s vests it’s the right side that it’s upon the left one, because that’s the one where the buttons are located (THEIR right, OUR left).
If you mirrored the image, this will be changed.
So, that image is the correct one and CLAMP made a mistake, because they are humans, sure ^^

I hadn’t noticed it (I’m still waiting for ordering my Infinity -_-U) but I’m always looking for mirroring mistakes with CLAMP one-eyed characters xD (and to see that our spanish edition is inverted xDD, like TB from Planeta) and color mistakes (Subaru’s eyes change of color very often, although they said it’s the “corruption” xD).

Well, they (Planeta) do that and MANY other awful things. And not only to CLAMP manga: Naoki Urasawa’s 20th Century Boys and Goseki Kojima’s Lone wolf and cub(both of them GREAT series of GREAT mangakas) have suffered from some similar consequences.
This people have published MKR, TB and X, and X has definitely the WORST edition of a CLAMP manga here in Spain. From the inversion (why do they mirror some series and no other ones?) to the paper quality (it’s like “OMG I can see you through if I put a page in front of my eyes” to the ink quality (patterns and greys? WHAT patterns and greys? It’s all a black mess of ink! and since CLAMP don’t use shadowing AT ALL, it’s a serios matter) xD
Sad.

Another point is last Friday I was going to buy One Piece #27 (3 tankoubons in a month and in Jenuary it’s IMPOSSIBLE to any pocket) and it was sold out in every store in Malaga, what the hell! What a distribution is that?! It has been 3 weeks since the tankoubon released and not it’s gone? What can I do now, just call and ask one by phone? Really, Planeta sucks XD

And yep, CLAMP changed them propositally, because “the change” in Subaru from Tokyo Babylon to X: he lost “his purity” in his eyes too ^^U.

That’s what he said: I think in one CLAMP no Kiseki they mentioned Subaru’s eyes were green at first because that represented his innocence, and when his soul turned corrupted, his eye-colour changed to the grey-violet-blueish of X. A strange theory, but well, if they want to explain it that way
