TRC 91 & XXXHOLiC 86 !!!!

Aww, ladydarkmoon is really a kind person *hugs* thank you so much, I’ll never be grateful enough *bows*

Room of Requirement (XD)

Okay, so the color page is about Tatooed Syaoran, AGAIN XD The page is really cool, kind of remembers one of the firsts colored pics of tsubasa with Sakura and Syaoran on the ground.

Now, the double page, omg, is really gorgeous ! TOMOYO IS HOLDING THE FREAKING CLOW BELL *FAINTS*

*recovers himself*

… WHAT IS THE MEANING ON THAT, CLAMP?

Anyway, all those arrows, was there a war on Nihon ? Was in this war that Kurogane got his left-hand scar (he has one, in case you didn’t notice)? Because you can’t see it on this particular pic and I’m sure CLAMP pays attention on those details.

So the other Tatooed!Syaoran is teasing Syaoran, and he actually gets a bit off of his “dreamscape” and grabs Syaoran’s neck? Dark Hinoto, anyone? No? Just me?

RABU-RABU scenes between Sakura and Syaoran! XDDD Those were so kawaii ! I actually felt for them when Mokona SPOKE !

The Rekoruto world is totally LONDON CALLING ! OMG ! REALLY REALLY NICE world !!!!! It’s so, so, so the London of Sherlock Holmes (Even Big Ben, CLAMP? XD), but with a bit of CLAMP touch (like Miyuki-chan flying on Sakura’s staff, for example XD), another Sherlock Holmes thing is Fye and Syaoran’s clothes, my gosh.

Btw, what’s with the flying people? There are angels, some people flying with balloons, birds o.o Also, is it just me or the horses are actually floating? Nice…

Whoa ! That is a huge library ! Will Sakura give some books to Syaoran? She made such a cute face ^_^

Why does the book has that symbol? Why does the book has that symbol? Why Tatooed!Syaoran and Sakura’s memories has that symbol?

What the book shows? The past? Can’t be, Kurogane has a past too, hasn’t he? Maybe their worst memories (Dementor, anyone?).

As for XXXHOLiC, it seems that Valentine’s Chocolate-stealing girl (all rights reserved to ladydarkmoon-san XD) is near Watanuki’s eye… since he saw her. And her little guys went to Yuuko shop ask for something I couldn’t get because my japanese skills are limited to a bit over nothing XDD And Yuuko receives a nice fan in return.

It’s so cute to see the DAMN RESPECT they have for Yuuko (they are bowing o.o) when for Watanuki they slapped him with their paper fans XDDDD

I’m just terrified to think that I’ll be only seeing a new XXXHOLiC chapter on October o.o

  1. Same here, TRC file gets me an error. O_o

Meanwhile, that comment about Tomoyo and a Clow bell creeped the hell out of me. That’s all that happens in this chapter? Crap, when we get to see an interesting world, there’s only S+S fluff? Yuck. I hope this will be solved with Fye and Kurogane being silly and/or a hot new crossover soon.

Hahaha, the karasu tengu get all humble with Yuuko. I love it when the leader screams to Watanuki, though. You can see his/her/its little pointy fangs XDDD

Yeah, that has to mean something ! And it looks so much like they were in a war, the least being attacked o.o

      >the karasu tengu get all humble with Yuuko.

Yeah ! She’s like teh Queen XD

    Um, right. It’s RAW. So perhaps ‘read’ is not quite the right word. xD;;

  3. Thank you! This was a really nice chapter – a world of magic books! – and there are lots of cute asides between the characters. Fai calls Kurosama ‘Dad’ and Mokona is a Sakura&Syaoran shipper, heh heh heh. Plus the color pages are beautiful AND the plot is moving right along! Vivement la prochaine~

And the return of the zashiki-warashi, yaaaay! She’s so cute. Watanuki, she’d be a better match for you than Himawari-chan, you know that~?

  4. You know, you saw this new world and thought Sherlock Holmes. I saw this world and thought Jack the Ripper and the Freemasons of old(e). ^-^’
And I know what you mean about the seemingly mega war in Japan from the color pages. I especially love the fact that Kurogane’s not bleeding when there’s an arrow embedded in a major artery in his thigh… But oh well. I can look over some things.
But maybe this book world is the whim of the Main Evil Dude. He wants Syaoran and not Kurogane, which would be why Kurogane wasn’t pulled in when he looked through it. Then again, I could be totally wrong. Oh well. We’ll see what happens in *checks calendar* another two weeks! *sad*

    • I totally love Sherlock Holmes ! My dream (aka impossible) job is been a detective *0*
I didn’t read Jack the Ripper, must be really good, though !

      >And I know what you mean about the seemingly mega war in Japan from the color pages.

Yeah! That would be so awesome ! Maybe this war would explain a lot about Kurogane…

      >He wants Syaoran and not Kurogane,

      Huuummm… nice thought !

      • Hrm…Jack the Ripper is an actual person from that era who stalked through the bad parts of London brutally killing prostitutes… Though many books have been written about him. His true identity has yet to be determined. Which makes him one of the most ‘successful’ serial killers ever. Rumor had it that he had ties with the Freemasons. But I have my doubts. Sorry for the ramble, but serial killers are fascinating to learn about to me. ^-^’
And that scar on Kurogane’s hand actually comes and goes depending on the picture I noticed. In the black and white tankoubon picture of chapter 34, he has it, but if you look at the color page version of that same chapter, there’s nothing there. Maybe they did indeed slip up and forget… But either way, I can’t wait until we see what’s going on in Kurogane’s country. Yay. ^_^

        • I also LOVE suspence stories… specially about Serial Killers ! I know his story like you told, very briefly, and I’d love to read it ^^

You are SO right about the scar ! They totally forgot to add on the magazine pic ! But they corrected it for the tank ! omg >.< so it really is important !

          • Yes, suspense stories are best. If you want to see some supernaturalizing of Jack the Ripper, watch the movie ‘From Hell.’ It’s scary. But good.
But I noticed a funny thing about that chapter’s page. The one printed for Shounen Magazine didn’t have it, but then a different version did, and then in the tank it did. So either way, they did go back and add it at some point. Which, as you say, makes it somehow important. Ah, I love minor details that in the end turn out to be major details. ^_^

        • No, it’s more because it’s Japanese for older readers; the wording is more substile, there are shortcuts like “n su” instead of “no desu”, the sentences are longer so I mess what should come first with what should come last, loads of kanji don’t exist in my dictionnaries, expressions in hiragana that I don’t know of. I can get the big picture, but I miss all the subtilities. Sometimes, I even miss the point about the big picture. I have still a long way to go before I can read stuff like Holic in my own.

Ah, I see °o° ! Come to think of it, I’ve been to one or two advanced Japanese lecture courses at my university and I’ve noticed that most people have difficulties when confronted with colloquial speech or long sentences. We were able to chose some of the texts we read in class and I remember the majority of the students preferred reading news paper articles to recent novels. I was totally baffled to hear this at first since I was pretty much the only one who thought reading Japanese novels was easier (…it is). And when I was confronted with the other students’ problems in class I realized that I never had any of these problems myself. (I learned Japanese through reading Japanese manga and it worked pretty damn well for me.)
I know a lot people who started learning Japanese at university and study for hours on end but still have a lot of difficulties with the language while I didn’t really do a thing (besides amusing myself ^^) and understand pretty much anything. The world’s not fair(…but I can’t bring myself to complain *looks away*).

I really admire your efforts to put so much time and energy into translating chapters for yourself *awed*! It definitely is the right way to get a good grip on the language! I started out with manga for grade schoolers (Nakayoshi and Ribon) and I agree that Holic’s use of the Japanese language is on a different level entirely compared to that @_@. Even if trying to read Holic might be disheartening for you now, I’m sure you’ll get to understand it one of these days. Your attitude is right and I have no doubt that you will be successful eventually. Kore kara mo nihongo no benkyou ganbatte ne!!!

  5. Thank you so very much, ladydarkmoon! We are really spoiled rotten.

Oh my! what a nice picture, I hope they’ll put this one in the 2006 calendar! And the Clow Bell is indeed worthy of notice, I can’t wait to see Kurogane’s country (which would likely be in the last part of the series).

Chibi Yuuto -> So the other Tatooed!Syaoran is teasing Syaoran, and he actually gets a bit off of his “dreamscape” and grabs Syaoran’s neck? -Dark- -Hinoto,- -anyone?- -No?- -Just me?- (sorry, I don’t know how to strike the text)

I slapped my forehead, one of the main characters had to have a evil alter ego, and with two Syaoran, it was inevitable (especially since Clow!Syaoran is way to mild compared to the original ccs!Syaoran). However, unlike Hinoto, Kamui or Ashura, both personalities have different bodies, maybe they parted the day Syaoran appeared in the Clow-koku, maybe that’s the only way Syaoran found to escape the Bat country, leaving a fake body, half of his soul behind, his memories and maybe even magic powers behind (well, I suspect it’s a fake body as it grew up significantly since we last see it. In fact, I though our Syoaran was the fake until this chapter, but that sudden growth …).

I love the new setting! The victorian style is so mysterious, this Sherlock Holmes / Dracula / Mr Hide / Jack the Ripper feeling …

Now who made the book, what is its purpose and why Syaoran reacted to it while Kurogane didn’t. It is likely the work of someone who follow the fab four’s progress and want to influence there journey, like Yuuko, Feiwang or Tomoyo-hime, and since we are in a England country, I’ll bet for Eriol ^_~ (it could have been Clow too, but we already saw him in the Clow country). I suspect no one beside clow!Syaoran could have read the book, and the design on the cover was to catch their attention. Plus, the trees around Syaoran within the book are Chinese like, so I suspect this is Syaoran’s original world, the one he came from before Feiwang put him in the tube.

So my guess is Eriol is in this world and powerful enough to know what the fab four are about to do (getting Feiwang down) so he made a book that only Syaoran can read, to show him his past, his happy family life (we see his sisters’ personalities at last), his abduction and his final escape. He put Sakura’s fethers design on it to catch one of them’s attention.

Now, we’ll have to wait three weeks for the new chapter. -_-

I KNOW!! I love London ! So I ought to love this new world !

And ow, I agree with you about Eriol *nods* This could be totally a change for him to show up… don’t know if HE put the book there, tough.

But the chinese trees thing, really? Are they really chinese? This could be a good hunch o.o

      • I gave a quick look in my Holic, Tsubasa, Clover, CCS, MKR and Shin Shunkaden’s books, and these tortuous trees with scattered branches are definitely not typical of Tsubasa or even typical of Clamp works, in fact I didn’t see anything like this, although it was a quick look, and I didn’t look at every work from Clamp.

However, they are the typical trees of Chinese paintings (foggy rocky mountains with tortuous trees and waterfalls). My Chinese painting book have some models that look pretty much like these.

Tomoe -> However, unlike Hinoto, Kamui or Ashura, both personalities have different bodies.
Chibi Yuuto -> Yeah, I know that, but the scene itself, alone, reminded me ^___^

I didn’t mean it your point was off because of they have seperate bodies, I meant Clamp push the trick a step further by separating them in two bodies (though they did it with Kamui even if the two Kamui don’t look alike as one of them have Fuuma’s body). Anyway, the image reminded me of the third opening of MKR, where Hikaru kiss Nova in a vertical watery mirror, Hinoto’s watery mirror is always horizontally. Did Freya and Chii had waves when they met?

  9. Random observation time~!

That wide-angle shot of the new world fascinates me, because I swear I see silhouettes on broomsticks. xD Also, there is an abundance of sun-moon-stars imagery, which makes me think of Eriol. Note the arch in the sky in the top-left of the panel; does it remind anyone else of the arches around Clow Country’s castle?

Most fascinating, though, is the statue on the fountain in the bottom-right of the panel, above the text bubble. Note that it is on a very high pedestal, as though it is a revered monument. Now look closely at the figure of the statue itself– a girl with short hair partially in pigtails, wings, with a slightly puffed skirt with ribbons… holding a staff with something round at the tip.

Is it just me seeing Sakura there?

…Yuzuriha is on page 20! xD Wonder what she’s reading?
