Starting from the OP:
The music is great! At the first time I heard it I was like “Okay”, but now I’m really into it !
I really liked the fights scenes ! And we get to see some foreshadowing, perhaps? Like Kurogane fighting some bugs à la Outo country and Fye kicking ass with Fei Wan’s guys. We even get to see the other Syaoran (I forgot how much spoiler those openings used to show). Syaoran even fights a big Robot (?) and he also makes a kind of a big bazooka punch XD I mean, what’s that? Now, the final scene, geez, I hated that XDDD What’s with the dumb Mokona’s pose and the static picture fading out? They could do better than this ¬¬

Now on the episode:
Yey the first scene were there, as we previously knew! I really like it and the “silent” effect was good (I thought it weird at first… maybe because I kind of imagined a very noisy scene with everything crumbling, but no… the silent effect made a cool touch!). I was so shocked when the tecno music à la .Hack (as hiragizawa says ^^) started! I Was “What’s that? o.o”, but now I recognize I really liked it ^__^ I just thought Syaoran a bit too emotionless when he was trying to break the glass… because in my mind he should be “Arrrg I wanna break that f*cking thing apart!!!!!”. But he sounded like “Toc, toc, toc, there’s anyone in home?”. But is fine.
Okay, what’s with not showing the countries’ name? They did name the whole cast (which was, hum… not that it was unnecessary, because I really did like it, but it was not in the manga >.<), but they didn't name the countries! It's bad because the little wing is very cute and the names are the 1st thing we get to see and it gives to us an impression of how is the world… ah, well…
The country's design is really good indeed, only that it'd be better to see the tiny people ANIMATED (yeah, what more do I want? XD). One thing I really don't like in animes is to see the little people not moving.
Fujitaka is soo great in here! They both look like indeed papa and son ^_^
Then it comes Sakura XD She’s very cute and all but I wish she was a bit more “pouty” when saying her name was actually “Sakura”, not hime. But it’s okay ^^
First anime change comes in here, when they go to the market… (more little static people on the background). This scene is soooo Aladdin-like (Okay, BeeTrain people, just because Sakura is a princess of a desert country and Syaoran is her hero doesn’t mean that you have to watch Aladdin to base on your scenes XD), especially the part where the castle’s guards came to rescue Sakura and Syaoran grabs her (horizontally? What’s that? XD) and they ran away from them. A little thing to notice here, WHY the hell they showed Sakura’s feet and MORE, moving her FINGER!!!!!!! W-T-F? O.O
What’s the point of that scene? Ohkawa-san, are you aware of that? Did you make them do that? >.<
The next scene is really cool because that’s where all the Syaoran + Sakura interaction happens… since this is the last time they spoke before “it happens”. The change here is that on the manga this scene was actually still inside Syaoran’s house. But it’s looking good here, in the sunset, looking at the ruins (which will be responsible for everything, it’s a good paradox). The text is very like the one in the manga ^_^
While in CCS Sakura was the clueless one in the love matter, in Tsubasa Syaoran is the clueless one (Of course, in a Shonen manga the girls will always take the first step). Sakura even makes a “Shite” face, while holding his hand XDDDD
Then it shows a little flashback scene with Clow in the distance (Already? YEY!) and cute little Syaoran and Sakura children ^o^
I’m really glad they showed Yukito’s fortunetelling, since it was there in one little square on the manga. And, is it just me or Yukito is like a PERFECT adaptation… so bad he won’t appear more on the series, he’s absolutely great!

Then, we get to see the other Syaoran (ALREADY?), Fei Wan and his assistant, ow, and don’t forget the .HM on the background ^^
I really liked the pic they used for the commercial break! I hope they change it on every episode.
We are in Nihon right now (no, no one said it to me, I know because I read the manga… PUT THE COUNTRIES’ NAMES!), and there’s LOUD laughter XDDD Yeah, nice point, hiragizawa, there’s NO ONE there XD (is supposed to be killed people in there, that he supposedly killed). And I also didn’t imagine his laugh in that way, but is okay ^^
Tomoyo is cute with Sakamoto’s voice! And the little things on her hair making noise >.< how cute/beautiful
We are in Celes now! Yeah, the producers changed that part a lot… firstly they introduced the main charas and their worlds, to later show each of them parting at the same time. It looked good, IMO, I liked the result ^__^
One thing I didn't know what Fye's green Tatoo o.O And Chii's voice is kind of nose-ish (you know, when it's coming from the nose XD), she doesn't have a good chara design as well.
The next scenes are very like the manga (which is good)… Sakura talking about Syaoran in her bedroom and then she listens to the sound and she lifts horizontally toward it (that girl loves horizontally poses XD). Later we get to see another very-manga like scene, which is the one where everything happens.
Then we jump to the part where Yukito send them to Yuuko's (where his voice is extremelly strong and not so Yukito-like ^^) and also Fye and Kurogane part from their countries. It's a pity that they didn't show their stories more deeply. Like, we didn't get to see Chii been transformed and Fye letting her know to warn him if something happens. Neither we get to see Tomoyo casting the curse on Kurogane and also their interaction was excluded -__- I hope they fix it later with the flashbacks.
I liked it a lot because its just like the manga one ^__^
They arrive at Yuuko’s shop and not a single Watanuki reaction (good point, flowright). That scene is one of my favorites… because Yuuko, Maro and Moru (and also watanuki ¬¬) are standing there with their “I Was expecting you” face… but Syaoran has a “nanda? o.o” face… XDDD It’s really good.
The music should had stopped now or either lowered a bit because DAMN Yuuko started to speak —— ! And when she speaks the whole world stop to listen to her… this is a bad point, we hear them saying very badly. Not to mention, Yuuko’s face was always the same ¬¬”
And the rain started (Too good they didn’t forget about it)
The ED:
Is waaay pretty ! I loved the opposite grow-up!Sakura with child!Syaoran thing (and also the other way around). The effect they put on the drawing is really good and everything is very colored in the perfect tone! Not to mention the song that matches perfectly.
Overall:
Chara Design: Really good, but if I give 10 to Minako’s men, I’d give an 8 to her women.
Animation: Really good, it’s not static at all, they should only animate the little people on the background.
Background: VERY vividly, looks much like the manga.
Colors: I wish they were a bit more vivid. They look a bit vague… but I guess it was mainly because the whole episode happened during the night period.
Seiyuus: Very good indeed.
Adaptation: VERY Faithful… they took off Kurogane and Fye’s background but they can work on that later. The script is MUCH like the manga and the phrases are almost the exact same ones. Also, the scenes usually happens in the same way as in the manga.
It’s very soon to judge by the 1st episode, but I’ll give an 9 of 10 grade ^__^
I’m very happy, it surely reached my expectations and I can hardly wait for the next one.

Man, then you have low expectations. But still, you were honest and pointed out the things you don’t like, and I’m glad. I’m sort of sick of the fans that think “OMG it’s all so perfect!!!11!” just because it’s Tsubasa.
And sorry, but no, after all I hated Yuuko’s seiyuu nonetheless. They screw her up in everything and I am not pleased. At all. Production I.G better not reuse their character design, especially Yuuko, or blood will be shed. Why do I get the feeling Watanuki isn’t going to talk… or maybe do anything at all? And who was the one that commented before the episode if Yuuko was going to take Mokona out of her dress or something? XD Because I can now see it happen ¬_¬

I was okay with it… I was neither “OMG what if it’s not perfect?” but I wasn’t either “It’ll sucks”, because I know anime tends to screw the original work by itself…
As for Yuuko, surely won’t be Minako… it’ll be a different one, I believe.
And no, please do not took Mokona out of her pocket!
They were really faithful to the manga… even som tiny little things were keeped… I don’t think they’ll screw that.

“Syaoran take me NOW!”
I totally need to get myself a place to write up some episode reviews. (Of course, the last time I did that with an anime it was freaking Digimon Tamers and I never finished.) I think I’ll have to revamp my old angelfire website.
How is everyone judging Yuuko on ONE LINE? My god. Makona, I can understand as that was an entire paragraph. Maybe my brain is broken, but Yuuko sounded just as I expected her to.
The Good: The color, the backgrounds, kurorin’s laugh, shirtless Fai (the tatoo looked GREAT! Too bad we’ll never see it again…), yukito-san (everything about him).
The Bad: The lack of SD (there’s SD in the character design sheets, so I’m hoping it shows up), no dead bodies (?), cropped Fai/Kuro background (maybe they’re postponing it for a flashback…) everyone is waif-ish and railthin (worse then the manga.)
The WFT?: Apple fetish, whorey sakura with bedroom eyes, Syoran pulling Sakura through the air sideways, ARM-CANNON! OP.
Although, you know, I’m not really surprised by anything. After all, no CLAMP anime series ever matches the manga. I mean, this is really the best we can hope for. (That and for it not to pull an X anime ending.)

Oh, that’s one lovely Yukito screencap. Shame that the names of the countries aren’t shown, I thought that was a simple and good way to keep track of when the group switches to another world.
Tomoyo is in the opening, right? I saw one screencap that made it seem like she is, a bit odd since she didn’t make an appearance for volumes and volumes until the current arc.

Yukito looks awesome! He looks alike the CCS version and i’m glad! I hope to see him more. I liked the first episode but i wish there were more Touya scenes too.

…Syaoran’s bazooka punch thing looks rather silly to me.
I hope Watanuki gets to say something and display some character, and that Yuuko’s voice-actress will improve. Messing up Yuuko’s voice would be a crime.
I’m glad the series is looking good so far. ^^ It’s better than I expected.

I do think Yuuko’s seiyuu will improve… she’s a bit softer than I expected but I can handle it, I guess ^_^

I have downloaded the High TV Definition version, ’cause i need to do printscreens for the magazine where i work.
I think that Yukito and Toya has, as always, the best character designs. I think Sakura seems little… mmmmmh stoped in this version. In manga she becomes blush, she is more live! In this chapter seems without wings xD
Beetrain aren’t very fans of Clamp works i think…
One question… i think that “Chii” is one of the most revised and redisegned Clamp’s character. She appears in Chobits (obviusly), TRC and Kobato with each different look every time. Above all, with different kind of “eyes” xD

Well…the scary thing was when they held a whole 5 second angle shot at Sakura’s wriggling toes. o.O;

My review is in my journal. I felt the episode was okay, I liked it very much [obviously I had greater expectations when watching Gankutsuou. Screwing up my favourite book = not nice]. Especially Kurogane’s laughter ^_^ I’m really looking forward to hearing more of their voices in the next episode! ^_^

I’m not really mad for that because I’m from the old school anime, If the narration is well done and clear you don’t need captions. Caption is used when you don’t know how to state something clearly… my two cents
And they didn’t really want explain, see that’s why they change the time in the clow country. We have now three scenes during night (so it seems it happens at the same time) and bee train get ride of the necessity to spell the world name since it looks like they are from the same universe.
And I also didn’t imagine his laugh in that way, but is okay ^^
love the mad laugh (the last character I saw him play was a shy man…. this is so strange)
