XXXHOLiC Movie news and New pics from CLAMP’s exposition!

Tsutomu Mizushima is the one responsible for the direction of XXXHOLiC’s movie! His other works are:

Crayon Shin-chan Movie 2003: Director, Script
Genshiken (TV): Director (OP/ED), Storyboard (Ep 9, OP/ED), Episode Director (ep 9)
Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (TV): Series director
Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Deluxe (OAV): Director
Kujibiki Unbalance (OAV): Director (OP), Storyboard (OP)

These series are not so well-known and as always, I never heard of a single one o.O The release date is yet to be announced, but I believe that it’ll open somewhere between July and September.

Ugh, a guy who directed a Crayon Shin-chan movie? :/ That’s so not a good sign… Nothing against the series, it’s just that the animation and the plot of that one… er, let’s say it requires zero skills to direct that!

I just checked the other works he did and… dear mother of God, they’re either pointless comedy or stupid shoujo, none of them seem visually spectacular at all. I don’t want someone with that kind of crappy experience to handle the adaptation of my favorite manga!!

What are they doing to my beloved XXXHOLiC?! Why?!

      • I don’t have anything against Shin-chan. I mean, sometimes I watch it, I admit, and it’s funny.

But really, the drawing and storyline are unexistant. It’s like The Simpsons or South Park, in a way: you can’t see a great effort, they’re just satires made to make people laugh. So for me, the fact the only actual anime movie he directed was that kind of… thing, it’s not an accomplishment. It has nothing to do with the greatness that it XXXHOLiC!

And the things he has worked in, none of them seem to have actual drama, suspense, terror, philosophy… and that’s what it makes the manga awesome! It’s the first time he handles such a thing! He’s likely to screw it up! That’s not funny at all!!!

        ;______________;

        The series is doomed…

          • ech.. jes Hiti I now!!

What language is that? o_o Or you just typed too fast?

I’m PRAYING Yuuko won’t look like something from boyis.com. Since it seems all the girls/women from the director’s work look like stereotypical “kawaii” bishoujo ¬¬TTT

She’s supposed to be gorgeous! Or at least hot! Not videogame-style “cute”…

            • Don’t worry, Hiragizawa-san (can I call you like this or do you have other nickname?)

This can be all coincidence (that all his women looked BLARG)

This is a work for the Character Design (which means it got nothing to do with the director) and I DO hope she/he makes the greatest woman of all the anime world or else I’ll chase him/her for you ^__^

OMG you’re so right XDDDD I’ve seen some pictures of it and I was all “Eh?” I mean, what IS that?

I really don’t know either of what path both XXXHOLiC and Tsubasa are going…

I know we are not suppose to judge it right now, but look, Bee Train? (I mean, no one even know it, such a new company) Everybody complained about Tsubasa’s director… and now came this?
I was only very happy to see Production IG doing it, which I Think it’s perfect…. But where is CLAMP to help us?

Or they will totatlly mess up those great stories or they are planning something really huge.

  3. Nice pics of the expo! ^^

To everyone who doesn’t know the other Tsutomu Mizushima’s works, I’ll tell that in general all of them mentioned above are comedies, and all of them had quite a simplistic style ^^U

-Crayon Shin-chan is the story of Shinnosuke Nohara, a bad-mannered, yet innocently cynical and shameless 5 year-old boy. The series revolve around Japanese society and everyday life situations, in a very amusing way.
-In Jungle wa itsumo hare nochi Guu and its OAVs we are introduced to Guu/Goo, a very strange, indiferent-looking girl who arrives to the junle one day. Lots of surrealistic but hilarious humor there with all the ruckus Guu causes.
-Genshiken revolves around an otaku group in Japan and all their problems and odd situations. Remember that: In japan, an otaku is a very, very, very freaky person, a true weirdo. (Normal manga/anime fans don’t have a name, are people who play chess called in a werid way here in Occident?)
-I don’t know anything about Kujibiki, since I haven’t seen it, though. I can only tell you it is about the competence generated between sobre school groups, an ecchi comedy.

Oh, BTW, I don’t have a livejournal account… you can call me Otacon in the meanwhile… ^^U

    • Ow! Thank you so very much for that !!! And I have two things to say:

      1. XXXHOLiC will turn into a stalking-Yuuko chasing and bossing over Watanuki the WHOLE time (I mean, excluding the philosophie XXXHOLiC we know).
      2. This director can handle all kind of themes and in XXXHOLiC he will challenge his limit! o.O

Very nice to meet you, Otacon ^__^

That’s what I was afraid to!! *angsts more* What kind of director is that for XXXHOLiC! *sobs*

I swear, if they make it funny and fanservice-y, Chobits style, I’ll go to Japan and make an act of vandalism in front of Production I.G…

      • -_-;

Why is XXXHOLiC made into an anime?

        1. They think they can make money by selling it to the fans
        2. They like the story

Would it be too wise to change it too much? Yuuko’s character is so strong that changing her would change the whole thing. A director who has only done comedies isn’t necessarily bad in more serious works. They might kill it, but they might do well too. Please don’t judge them too soon.
