On its third week of release, XXXHOLiC Rei #3 fell to position 21 in Oricon’s weekly comic ranking, with 29.633 copies sold, making the overall sales up to 260.550 copies.

These numbers stay behind the sales of both volumes 1 and 2 during the same period of time.

Always worth mentioning that these numbers are only for the regular edition. Numbers for the PLAYBUTTON limited edition are unknown.

CLAMP have collaborated with Kyoto’s official mascot, Mayumaro, in designing an original set of goods that will be sold at this year’s Kyomafu (Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair).

Inspired by Kyoto’s traditional textile techniques Nishijin (西陣織) and dyeing (染め), the goods include hand towels, small purses, pouches and business card holders.

This collaboration is part of CLAMP’s participation in this year’s Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair, which will take place on September 20 and 21.

Very nice tip if you’re in Kyoto around that time 😉 I hope there will be pictures of this.

CLAMP members to attend CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 Nagoya

The Osaka edition of the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 has ended a few hours ago in Japan, at Zepp Namba hall.

Shortly after, CLAMP-NET.COM posted a message from CLAMP saying that they will be attending the Nagoya edition of the festival, which will take place on December 2.

CLAMP’s message says that they weren’t able to attend to the Tokyo and Osaka editions due to the medical treatment that they are going under, but their doctor has given them permission to attend the Nagoya edition.

It will be the last edition of CLAMP FESTIVAL 2012 and the first time that CLAMP members make an appearance in the festival.

It’s the first time in a good while since CLAMP made a public appearance. Last time was during a very small signing session for the B2・HOLiC Blythe release, in September 2011, and before that, at the CLAMP@MOBiLE Fes! 2011, in February of the same year.

In their message, CLAMP remarks the fact that they are still under medical treatment, which would explain all the recent breaks in their publications.

I’m really glad that they will be attending! I always love when CLAMP makes public appearances. I always thought it was the weirdest thing to have a CLAMP FESTIVAL while CLAMP members themselves were not there…

Looking forward to this!

CLAMP-designed wedding dress on exhibit

A wedding-dress designed by CLAMP and inspired in Card Captor Sakura will be on display at the Tokyo Bridal Festa. The event will take place on December 23 and 24 in Tokyo. The “collection” (not sure if it’s correct to call it this way since it’s only one piece so far) is called CLAMP BRIDAL.

In addition, illustrations of Card Captor Sakura and Chobits will be displayed at the event.

CLAMP doing wedding dresses? That’s so cool! We always wanted CLAMP’s costumes to come alive. I hope this is only the beginning of CLAMP’s dive into the fashion world.

And here is the sticker that will be given as a bonus to those who purchase the Tsubasa 2012 Calendar through CLAMP’s Official Shop:

So cute Hana and Kazahaya, CLAMP’s two current works =)

Several News

• Rio Comicon:

The convention Rio Comicon starts today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the exhibition CLAMP – As Rainhas do Mangá (CLAMP – The Queens of Manga) will take place until Sunday. This is the same exhibition that was originally held in Paris in 2009.

Tickets cost R$ 20,00 for each day at the event’s entrance (students pay half price). Check their official website for more info.

I will be there on Saturday, hope to meet some of you there! 😉

• Kobato. licensed in Brazil:

The Kobato. manga has been licensed in Brazil by JBC. The manga will be published every 3 months starting in October. The price will be R$ 10,90 for a full tankoubon format (unlike Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC), but no color pages.

This is the 10th CLAMP title to be published in Brazil, and they remain being the only manga authors with that many titles licensed in the country.

Here’s the cover for the Brazilian edition:

Also, the Card Captor Sakura manga, which was the first CLAMP title published in Brazil, will be re-released by JBC in a special edition still this year. The new release will be in full tankoubon format (unlike the original edition) and will have color pages. Release date and price are still undecided.

• Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito:

It was announced in this year’s New York Anime Fest that the new Code Geass project, Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito, will be released next year. CLAMP is in charge of the original character concept for this project as well.

The Code Geass and R2 seasons will be re-released in a new DVD Box early next year and an exclusive promotional video of Code Geass GAIDEN: Boukoku no Akito will come with it.

• BLOOD-C:

The official website of BLOOD-C has the 2nd DVD and Blu-Ray cover, which was drawn by CLAMP.

It will be released on October 26.

CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO round-up

A nice report in English of the 2nd presentation is available here by uzumaki-kairi, you can find the full set list there. The short anime was showed only on the first presentation, most likely because Miyu Irino (Syaoran) and Daisuke Namikawa (Fye) weren’t there for the second presentation and therefore, they couldn’t make the live dubbing.

Sayaka Ohara was wearing a kimono designed by Mokona =)

uzumaki_kairi also took pictures of the original comic drawn by CLAMP, you can download it here (password: festival). Such a nice comic!! xD

The festival will be released on DVD on December.

CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO – LIVE! coverage

CLAMP FESTIVAL original goods!

The official website for the CLAMP FESTIVAL 2011 TOKYO updated its Goods corner with information about the merchandise that will be sold at the event.

The original goods are:

A – Festival’s official guide book. Cover by CLAMP, with introduction to CLAMP’s works and interviews with the artists. 100 pages, it comes with a bag.
B – T-shirt.
C – Towel.
D – Cell phone strap.
E – Fan.
F – Mokona cookies.
G – Wristbands.
H – Keychains.

Other non-original goods will be sold at the event as well. To check the full goods list, go to CLAMP FESTIVAL’s official website.

Needless to say that my favorite is the guidebook with a new crossover art by CLAMP. It has a circus motif, I can’t wait to see a bigger version of it =) Looks like they drew all of their characters according to the festival’s line-up, like having 3 “Chiis” (the Chii from Chobits played by Rie Tanaka and the twins from Kobato. played by Megumi Nakashima, both part of the festival’s line-up). Saya is there too, and Kazahaya and Rikuou even though there is nothing Gouhou Drug in this festival (but it’s their current work, same with GATE 7). I’m pretty sure that is Kamui holding TRC!Sakura but I’m not sure… I hope they didn’t forget him =)

I previously mentioned here that the free event “CLAMP Gakuen Festival” will be held at the back of the CLAMP FESTIVAL main stage with cosplay activities, interviews with guets & more. This backstage event will be streamed live by NicoNico in here. You must be a member so hurry and register to watch it live on Saturday! The main stage of the CLAMP FESTIVAL itself will NOT be streamed by NicoNico, only the back stage known as “CLAMP Gakuen Festival”.

I’m not sure if the live streaming will be limited to Japan residents, if that turns out to be the case, I apologize in advance, I really don’t know and I hope it will be open for all.

The official Blythe website informs that their collaboration doll with CLAMP, B2・HOLiC, will be on display at the CLAMP Gakuen Festival.

B2・HOLiC and CLAMP sign session

The official website of Blythe has news about their upcoming collaboration with CLAMP.

As previously announced, CLAMP is designing a Blythe doll called B2・HOLiC based on Yuuko’s character from XXXHOLiC. It will be a limited production of only 1000 units.

The release date is set to October costing 26.250 yens. The doll will be formally revealed to the public at the Blythe shop Junie Moon Daikanyama on October 15, where it will be sold in advance.

To celebrate the release, there is going to be a sign session with CLAMP on October 23. More details will be announced later this month.

In addition, an exhibition featuring XXXHOLiC illustrations will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo, from October 4th to 30th.

Excited about the sign session! I believe this is the first one since 2009 in Japan Expo.
