I guessed it right once more, it’s Freya! ♡

As expected for the Freya cover, we have a mirrored illustration. Curvy dress vs Pointy dress. Angel vs Devil.

I think both Elda (Chii) and Freya look great! I only did not understand the black color on the lettering. Don’t get me wrong, black looks great since it’s Freya, of course, but none of the original edition volumes had black at its main color. So they broke the pattern?

This seventh volume is coming out on September 5th.

All hints are now pointing towards Hideki on the cover of volume 8, but maybe CLAMP will surprise us again?

Just one volume left for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits!

Vol. 8: October 4th

I guessed it right once more, it’s Chitose! ♡ Chitose is my favorite character in Chobits and this is actually the first time she appears in a colored illustration ever, even though she appeared in Chobits, Kobato. and Tsubasa.

This volume’s color is light purple, almost pink, which is the same shade of volume 6 in the original series. But I thought that color already appeared in volume 2 of the CPC series. I am a little confused with the colors ^^;

This sixth volume is coming out on August 6th.

My guess for volume 7 is Freya!

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 7: September 5th
Vol. 8: October

I guessed it right again, it’s Yumi! They are mirrored, but back to back to each other, because I think when Freya appears they will be front to front.

This volume’s color is orange, which is the same shade of volume 4 in the original series.

Yumi’s face looks pretty okay to me, but I think Chii’s face looks a little off =/

This fifth volume is coming out on July 5th.

My guess for volume 6 is Chitose!

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 5: July 5th
Vol. 6: August 6th
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

I guessed it right, it’s Yuzuki! Another great cover, they both look great!

This volume’s color is lavender, to match Yuzuki’s hair color. I think this is the same shade of volume 7 in the original series.

At first glance, it might seem as though their dresses have the same color, but the shades are slightly different. It was the same for volume 3 and 2 (the green and pink of Chii’s ribbons had slightly different shade than those of Takako, Sumono and Kotoko). Also, this is the first non-white dress that Chii is wearing. The white is mainly on the apron and the sleeves.

This fourth volume is coming out on June 6th.

We’re halfway there! My guess for volume 5 is Yumi!

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 4: June 6th
Vol. 5: July 5th
Vol. 6: August
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION: Chobits vol. 3 cover

It’s Shimizu Takako-sensei! She looks so great. She almost looks unaffected by the current art style.

I wasn’t expecting green, though, since the color of the original volume 3 is a navy blue. This shade of green reminds me of volume 5 instead (even Chii’s sitting position looks similar). So, it seems that apart from volume 1, they won’t be necessarily following the same colors as the original series. This would also explain why volume 2 is pink and not red (the original volume 2 is red while the original volume 6 is pink)

This cover confirms the pattern of having Chii always wearing a white dress with a ribbon of the same color of the volume. So far, only female characters, also.

I like this cover! Chii looks better than in volume 2 and the dresses are beautiful!

I am still going to bet on Yuzuki, for volume 4.

This third volume is coming out on May 7th.

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 3: May 7th
Vol. 4: June 6th
Vol. 5: July
Vol. 6: August
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

So we have Sumomo and Kotoko, which answers the question that we have all been wondering whether Chii would appear alone in all covers or not. It makes sense that more characters appear given that we already have Chii alone in all covers of the original edition.

The shade of red is slightly different than what I expected… it looks more pink than red to me. And again the ribbon in Chii’s dress matches the main color. I guess this will be the pattern: Chii always wearing a white dress with a ribbon of the same color of the volume.

Between the first two covers, I prefer the first one.

Is it going to be only persocons in the covers? I don’t think there is enough persocons for that. Is it going to be only girls? For now, for volume 3 my bet is on Yuzuki.

This second volume is coming out on April 5th.

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 2: April 5th
Vol. 3: May 7th
Vol. 4: June
Vol. 5: July
Vol. 6: August
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

Following the all-black X covers, I do believe that for Chobits all covers will be white. Also, once again the volume “color” (blue) is on the font, but unlike X, the font color is also mixed with black — very similar to the original edition: white, black and a color. The ribbons on Chii’s dress are of the same color as the font. This could also tell us a lot about how the pattern for these covers will be.

The style is very similar to the original Chobits style, I think CLAMP’s current style suits Chobits really well. It’s almost as if that illustration was drawn around the time the series was still being published.

Now, is this going to be all Chii or will we see other characters? The next cover shall clarify that.

In a similar fashion to the previous two CPC works published by Kodansha (XXXHOLiC and Magic Knight Rayearth), each volume will come with a postcard featuring the illustration used as the cover for the original edition and those who purchase all 8 volumes are eligible to receive an exclusive binder to hold all postcards.

This first volume is coming out on March 6th.

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 1: March 6th
Vol. 2: April
Vol. 3: May
Vol. 4: June
Vol. 5: July
Vol. 6: August
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

Chobits is the 5th series of CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION, first volume out on March 6th

In November it was announced that Chobits will be the 5th series of CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION.

Instead of the usual 2-volumes per month schedule, this time only one volume will be released each month, with the first volume coming out on March 6th.

Here’s the upcoming schedule for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of Chobits:

Vol. 1: March 6th
Vol. 2: April
Vol. 3: May
Vol. 4: June
Vol. 5: July
Vol. 6: August
Vol. 7: September
Vol. 8: October

CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION: X vols. 18 & 18.5 covers

The covers of volumes 18 and 18.5 of X for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition have been announced!

No big surprises, at this point. Nataku and Kamui. ended up being the only ones to appear in the same volume cover as the original edition, and some fans guessed it right that Hokuto would appear in Kakyou’s cover. I love the background in the cover of volume 18.5.

Kyougo ended up being the only character that appeared in the original edition but not in CPC.

In addition to the 5 chapters that were only published in the appendix of CLAMP Newtype PLATINUM and in ALL ABOUT CLAMP, volume 18.5 will also include a few extras:

  • “X² IMAGE CLIP SPECIAL COMIC” (originally published with the “X²” image clip)
  • “Sora-chan’s Youth Love Love Fire” (originally published in CLAMP News 14)
  • “X Gag Edition” (originally published in ASUKA June 1993 issue)
  • “CLAMP IN WONDERLAND EX.” (originally published in CLAMP Newtype PLATINUM)

All these extras explain all the extra pages that were listed for volume 18.5 (apart from the 5 chapters).

Volumes 18 and 18.5 will be released on November 4.

This concludes the fun ride that was X in CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION. The next work has not yet been announced, but it’s going to be from Kodansha.

CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION: X vols. 16 & 17 covers

The covers of volumes 16 and 17 of X for the CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION edition have been announced!

So, in the end, we did get Seishirou and Subaru, which was the most obvious choice. I thought CLAMP would surprise us and leave them for the final two but I guess sometimes they do choose the most obvious choice after all. Volume 16 is Seishirou’s volume, no question about that. There goes my hope to see Sakurazukamori Subaru, haha!

I really like the background with the pentagrams and how the covers are mirrored (not only the pentagrams but their pose, also). I don’t understand the kanjis written in Seishirou’s one (does anyone know?), and Subaru has the Big Dipper.

Seishirou’s one looks great! He looks great. Subaru looks a bit off to me, unfortunately.

So the only ones left now are Nataku and Kakyou. Will Nataku be the only one, along with Kamui in volume 1, that is in the same cover as the original edition? Kakyou makes more sense for 18.5.

We’re so close to the end of this fun ride… =/

Here’s the upcoming schedule for CLAMP PREMIUM COLLECTION of X:

October 4: vols 16 & 17
November 4: vols 18 & 18.5
