The title page is so beautiful with the mermaid!

32 pages so far for volume 5. Next chapter will be out on February 6.

I don’t have much time to write a proper review right now. I might do it later (or not) once the english translations are out.

I hope you are all having great holidays!

CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa to be in charge of scripts and series composition of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc TV Anime

The February issue of Nakayoshi magazine will announce another very important bit concerning the upcoming TV Anime adaptation of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc.

This time they will announce that CLAMP member Nanase Ohkawa will repeat her role as series compositor and script writer!

This is fantastic news! I had already good expectations for this adaptation but I was still holding my breath regarding the scripts and now I can rest assured. We can trust something good and of top quality will come out of this. The cherry on top would be Mokona designing the original cards (if any) and costumes.

Also, since they are announcing that Ohkawa will be responsible not only for the series composition but also for scripts, I think it’s safe to assume that she will write the scripts for all episodes.

This is really, really great news!

The first volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ dropped to the 25th position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 32,794 copies sold in its third week of sales.

The above numbers are for the regular edition. The Special Edition (mangaka set) did not appear in this week’s ranking.

Combining the sales for both versions, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #1 sold an estimate of 312,327 copies overall so far.

I’m guessing that next week it will appear again in the ranking selling something around 15.000 copies, selling a little less than 340.000 overall.

Kodansha has revealed the cover of Tsubasa SToRy CHRoNiCLE official guide book. The cover illustration is the other half of the CARACTere CHRoNiCLE book cover.

According to the book’s synopsis, it will contain an interview with CLAMP, the Kinugawa Onsen arc short story, character relationship charts, an easy-to-understand story timeline and tribute illustrations from Isuke Umada (Teru Konda’s Legal Recipe), Okubo Atsushi (Soul Eater), Sasuga Kei (GE), Suzuki Nakaba (Seven Deadly Sins) and Terajima Yuji (Ace of Diamond).

The book comes out on December 31st.

You can pre-order it online on CD Japan and Amazon Japan.

I did notice a weird razor appearing near Syaoran in the CARACTere CHRoNiCLE book cover and aha, it turned out to be Kurogane’s sword after all 😉

I am looking forward to that timeline (aren’t we all?) and I hope the CLAMP interview will be longer and more revealing than the CARACTere CHRoNiCLE Q&A.

The first volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ dropped to the 5th position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 113,397 copies sold in its second week of sales.

The above numbers are for the regular edition. The Special Edition (mangaka set) did not appear in this week’s ranking, meaning that it sold less than of 17,382 copies.

Combining the sales for both versions, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #1 sold an estimate of 279,533 copies overall so far.

It is maintaining a steady place in the ranking, but I expected a little more from Sakura-chan.

It will definitely appear in the ranking again next week and hopefully it’ll break the mark of 300.000 copies sold.

Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #1 first week sales report

The first volume of Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ debutted at the 3rd position in Oricon’s weekly ranking, with an estimate of 147,750 copies sold in its first week of sales.

The above numbers are for the regular edition. The Special Edition (mangaka set) debutted at the 46th position with an estimate of 18,386 copies sold.

Combining the sales for both versions, Card Captor Sakura ~Clear Card arc~ #1 sold an estimate of 166,136 copies overall.

While these numbers might seem a little underwhelming for Card Captor Sakura standards, it is worth mentioning that the ranking ranges from November 28 to December 4 and these volumes came out on December 2, so these numbers reflect the sales of three days only, not a whole week. It’s good to see the Special Edition appearing in the ranking, also. We haven’t seen that in a while.

That being said, it apparently had a better performance than the latest volumes of Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC. We should have a more solid idea of its performance by next week’s numbers, when they’ll have a full week exposure.

The Tsubasa guidebook and mini-artbook did not appear in the ranking despite having also been released on the same day.

New Code Geass project in the works

From AnimeNewsNetwork:

Sunrise announced at the Code Geass 10th Anniversary event on Sunday that the franchise is getting its “next project,” as well as a three-part compilation anime film series. Below is the visual announcing the next project:

news_xlarge_geass10th_key

The next project is titled Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection), but the announcement did not reveal the format of the project.

The three-part film series will recap all 50 episodes of the original Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion series and the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 sequel series. The cast are re-recording all their lines for the films, and the films will include new scenes. The first film will open in 2017.

Looking forward to the new CLAMP art for this and hopefully a second artbook will finally be released.

2017 is looking good for us CLAMPers. We deserve it after the long draught we’ve been through for the past few years.

The design is the same as the original series. I just don’t understand the green choice here. I feel like some other color would have been a better choice for this cover.

It goes on sale on December 2 along with a special limited edition that comes with a mangaka set. Here is a preview of its contents:

Where to buy:

Regular Edition: CD Japan | Amazon Japan
Special Edition: CD Japan | Amazon Japan

And by the way, it seems that Kodansha is releasing a Card Captor Sakura Popular Book Set with 4 books of limited release together in one batch. This is your chance to get them all in case you still don’t have them. Release is scheduled for mid-December and CD Japan has it for pre-order.

Update: Higher resolution pictures added.

BREAKING: Card Captor Sakura Clear Card arc TV Anime in January 2018, same staff and cast

ccs_new_anime_announcementThe upcoming January issue of Nakayoshi magazine will announce that the “new anime project” for Card Captor Sakura is a new TV Series of Clear Card arc to be premiered in January 2018 with similar cast and staff as the original Anime!

The TV Series will be produced by Madhouse and directed by Morio Asaka — same animation studio and director as the original anime! No word yet on whether CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa will be writing scripts for it, but let’s hope so!

Moreover, the cast for Sakura, Kero, Tomoyo, Syaoran, Yukito and Touya is the same as the original TV Anime as well!

The TV Series is to be aired on NHK channel.

This is fantastic news! Having Madhouse, Morio Asaka and the original cast on board is practically more than half a formula we need for a successful adaptation. January 2018 gives plenty of time for more manga material to be released (2 or 3 volumes at least).

I only hope now that Ohkawa will join the staff to make this perfect.

This is a day to celebrate, a new era is upon us!
