Another double color page, this time with Sakura. It follows almost the same color palette and motif of the previous one. I wonder if we’re about to see a sequence of spreads with this same color scheme and motif.
We learn that the dragon left the fake moon because if Akiho went inside, she would probably get hurt (indeed this is what I had in mind, the dragon didn’t want Akiho to go inside the fake moon).
Sakura uses REWIND to “rewind” the dragon’s time, which brings it back to its previous form, which is Kaito. However, the magic responsible for turning him into a dragon is so powerful that that card alone did not do the trick and now Kaito has some black wings. Sakura mentions that REWIND is the “last” card that the RECORD card recorded and that ended up in this rewritten world. It’s still not very clear to me why some cards are here and not others. Conveniently enough, the cards that Sakura needs the most are here…
After that, the Kaito we know is back, except now he has wings (they are kind of cool). He thought that by giving a world with a caring family and caring friends to Akiho she would be happy enough that she would not need him. He nullified himself for her happiness, without even realizing that she did not want that.
Akiho then has a moment of assertiveness where she tells Kaito that she alone should be the one responsible for making her own decisions and that she would rather go back to a reality where she can have that autonomy, as harsh of a reality as it may be, than to stay in a seemingly perfect one where can’t always do that.
Sakura tells Akiho that as long as Akiho is with her most important person, “everything will be alright” (zetta daijoubu dayo). This is the first time Sakura’s iconic quote is mentioned by her in Clear Card.
As soon as she says that, they are all attacked but some magic forces (the Magic Association, finally?)
Sakura wants to fix the “huge mess” that is this reality but she only has two cards: TIME and REWIND. I am not sure if those are the only cards left or if she plans to do something using these two cards (combining them?). It’s not clear to me.
I thought we would see more scenes closer to the dreams that showed in the first chapter, but since Kaito is back to his human form, I guess we won’t be seeing the “Mysterious Cloaked Figure” riding on it anymore (I guess it really was an interference while Lillie was trying to reach Sakura).
Maybe we won’t be seeing the Magic Association at all. If Sakura really manages to fix this mess, she might do it quickly enough to escape them. But they are still somewhere in Europe, I am not sure we will get any conclusion with the Magic Association in Clear Card.
As for Kaito, what happened to him (the “wings”) is probably permanent and even if Sakura manages to fix the hot mess, he will probably live with some sort of side effect or punishment for all he did.
36 pages for this chapter, which is a bit more than the previous two chapters. 98 pages for volume 16 so far!
Chapter 79 will come out on October 31st! We don’t have any breaks since Chapter 67. It’s been 12 months straight with no breaks between chapters! Let’s hope it stays this way until the end.

I would not be shocked if the representative of the magic association that wants to use Akiho in Clear Card turns out to be an expy of Fuuma…
