Just so you know, Tsubasa 178, 179 and XXXHOLiC 148 are available at The Room of Requirement. I’m not going to write a full report on them, but I do have a few things to say about Tsubasa.
– Tsubasa is surprising me by each chapter, I could never ever possibly guess the story would become what it became. Like, Sakura is a clone too? Oh my god, Ohkawa really fooled me there, deeply! And the part where Sakura goes down below in the ruins, even that had a purpose! The more she fools me, the more I love her.
– Who is Real!Syaoran’s Sakura? The original one of Clow country? Or is he really CCS!Syaoran and his Sakura is Sakura Kinomoto?
– Did Fei Wang clone Sakura’s body as well, or only her soul? If he did, and if the soul is inside the tube, where is the body?
– Speaking of the tube, I don’t think Fei Wang’s tube is the same as Yuuko’s. Why would he put the original Sakura under Yuuko’s care? Besides, the background image when Fei Wang’s tube appears is the same as of the first scene of the series, and we’ve never seen that background when Yuuko’s tube was being shown (I know it sounds crazy, but I have no idea what those poligonals mean!)
– Fei Wang bicthes! I want to know more about Fei Wang’s bitches!! I thought we would never see them again! He says they are failures, I say they are failed attempts to clone someone, including Xing Huo, rather than revive.
– And lastly, who else thinks the clone wants revenge now? Watch your back, Fei Wang xD

Actually, that was R!Syaoran in the last panel. I was fooled at first too, but R!Syao doesn’t have that blood streak on his left cheek, and the Syaoran in the last panel doesn’t either. Also, Real’s clothes were torn up like the Syao in the last panel, but Cloney’s were perfectly untouched the last time you see them before then.
So…now I’m like “Holy crap! R!Syaoran looks like he’s going to kill somebody–and I think we all know who!”

As for the other things you said about Tsubasa:
1. I was totally thrown as well!
2. I used to not even consider the CCS vs. Clow debate–but recently I’m wondering too…

I wonder who they were meant to be as well…
6. I thought it was the clone too, until I looked closer at the cheek. The rough marks match up with Real and there aren’t any blood streaks–and those clothes are tattered like Real’s.

Yes, you are right on that, I really didn’t notice! But that last panel alone didn’t make me think that. I thought he was really affected by Sakura’s death, I was quite surprised to tell you the truth, that is why I think he won’t forgive FWR that easily. Now that we’ve realized that, R!Syaoran looks even more pissed xDDDD

I was completely thrown with the whole Sakura is a clone, particularly because I’ve grown so attached to her.
HOWEVER, the idea that the real Sakura and Syaoran are from the CCS Universe has crossed my mind and would be very cool. Considering that Yuuko’s Clow is CCS’s Clow.
This is getting more and more confused.

I know, three Sakuras, but think about it.
Syaoran, Fye, Kuro and Sakura are the only ones we haven’t seen an alternate reality one. This can’t be a coincidence. I refuse to think that they left it to chance.
We haven’t seen Watanuki, Doumeki or Himawari either.
As for Yuuko and Clow (and Fei Wong) being unique, doesn’t that contradict the whole initial theory that in every dimension there’s a counterpart?

But, Yuuko is like in the center of all the diomensions, isn’t she? From every single world someone could contact with her. As she would be the common part.
I met with a theory that the more someone is powerful, the less “copies” of him there are. I’m thinking about Yuui!Fai being Fai’s “other” – same looks, other souls. But… well. Stupid theory ^^”

I don’t think that CCS!Sakura is the same as Real!Sakura. I’m afraid it would no longer make any sense. According to chapter 178, Fei Wang cloned Real!Sakura during the scene in the ruins, which would mean she had lived all her life in Clow Country, and one person just can’t be at two places at the same time.
Moreover, even if their counterparts haven’t actually showed up, there might have been one note on them in volume 12. In Piffle World, Tomoyo once remarked looking at Clone!Syaoran that “he’s really very much like the one she knows”. We still don’t know who she was driving at, so what if it was some other “real” Syaoran?
And I’d say that Watanuki, Doumeki and Himawari are a special case. We don’t even know the true nature of the dream yet.
However, I also wonder what makes Yuuko, Clow and Fei Wang so unique not to have any counterparts…

“Real Sakura” is older than “CCS Sakura” when we last saw her though, her whole existence in Clow World could be implanted memories or a very elaborate illusion created by either Clow or Yuuko. I also find it odd that real Sakura’s father had also passed away, because if “Real Sakura” is a counterpart then that means that Clow has other counterparts in other dimensions unlike Yuuko.
Fujitaka also puzzles me, in CCS he was part of Clow along with Eriol, so does it make sense that he exists as the same as Clow does even in another dimension? In Tsubasa, Fujitaka as also passed away as well.
This is giving me a headache…

Well, I guess there are still lots of possibilities XDD The memories could be fake or it all could have been something like a dream (I can’t think so intricately as Ohkawa XD}, but wouldn’t it be a little too complex compared to the possibility that CCS is just not included? I know that some people believe that all Tsubasa story could take place when CCS!Syaoran was in Hong Kong, but in CCS Sakura actually says they wrote and phoned each other during that time, which just can’t be challenged (of course, without an escapist explanation like “it was all just a dream” or time shifts). Well, let’s hope in the future, shall we lol XD

I didn’t read scanlations at that time, but in DelRey edition it’s page 19 of volume 12. Tomoyo is looking at Clone!Syaoran from the window and says for herself with a smile: “It’s true. The way he pilots his machine… is very much like the one I know.”
Unless they got the translation completely wrong, I think this sentence is pretty suspicious XD (It was actually the only interesting sentence in all Piffle World, which made me remember it XDDDD)

Well, I don’t remember reading anything like that in the French translation. Since I lent it to a friend, I took a look at my Japanese copy and here’s what it’s writen:

I like to think that nobody is unique, not even Yuuko or Clow. For example, I believe Clow!Clow is NOT CCS!Clow. But I have my doubts too xD The fact that we got only one deluxe cover of Clow could mean that they are both the same person xD

In regards to Clow, both CCS!Clow and Clow!Clow have passed away, which doesn’t necessarily hold true. Oruha, Ryuu-Ou, Seishirou and countless others have passed away in their “regular” universes and we see them popping in and out of Tsubasa without problems.
Except for Clow, I mean probability alone would dictate that they would encounter at least one of their counterparts, and yet… they haven’t.

Clow’s passing away in CCS could mean he “moved to another world” I mean yue and Kero didn’t saw him dead – he just disappeared. He already had descendants in CCS world. It could be easy for him to move to Clow, meet a woman with whom he had Sakura and Tooya (That would explain Tooya’s dark hair at least in clow country xDDDDD). He’ s not immortal but he deffinitely has a long lifespan as expected from a powerful magician. Making alter egos is also not a problem 😉

I think Kero and Yue actually did see him die. He splat his soul into two, and he couldn’t possibly live in Clow Country without a soul.
However, I think that he could actually live in Clow Country and have Sakura for his daughter BEFORE he moved to CCS!World. We still learn about how time flows different in different dimensions, so this might be one of the demonstrations. He could originally belong to Clow Country, have his children (Sakura and Touya), than move away to CCS World (because at least, in Tsubasa we still haven’t learnt anything about his death), start a new line of descendants including CCS!Sakura and then die, having told Yuuko about some events important for Tsubasa (that he already predicted).
Generally, the time shifts might be more important than we think. What if all the story has already happened before, with an unknown outcome? In earlier volumes, we were repeatedly informed that something was happening “once again”…

Well, we haven’t seen Yue, but we have seen Yukito. I’m not sure if it counts the same or not, but it would probably mean that Yukito in Tsubasa was born(…) after Yue/Yukito in CCS was created, because if Clow had seen that Touya and Yukito were soulmates, he probably wouldn’t have expected Yukito to fall in love with Sakura (as Eriol says in CCS). Oh my, it gets even more complicated like this ^^;;; Because in Tsubasa, he clearly knew that Sakura and Syaoran were soulmates, but in CCS Eriol directly points out that it surprised him. But TRC just can’t be happening after CCS, because in TRC, Clow was still alive, while at CCS he was clearly dead.
OMG… Clow could change other people’s memories, couldn’t he?! O___O

I agree with Mikoto-chan. My opininion is that Fei Wang can´t clone souls, only bodies. Because even if he did and cloned C!Sakura´s and C!Syaoran´s souls, where would be the meaning in “creating your own soul”?
And moreover, Fei Wang didn´t even intend to clone Sakura´s soul, he only needs her body as a container for memories.

I think you’re mistaken right now. Clone!Sakura did have a soul, but it was a completely new soul developed once and for all {as I assume) as she fell in love with Clone!Syaoran (because they could form a completely knew soulmate pair like that XD). That’s the point: they’re clones, just copied bodies who don’t have any soul, only intentions and purposes that Fei Wang Reed inserted into them. That’s why C!Syaoran became completely cold and ruthless when his heart returned back to R!Syaoran. C!Sakura also seemed kind of “soulless” in the beginning, which started to get better because of the feathers, but I believe that what we just saw die was C!Sakura’s NEW soul (while the feathers are still inside the body). If it wasn’t, wouldn’t C!Syaoran just killed R!Sakura’s soul?!! O.o That can’t be possible, because she said “I’m NOT your Sakura” to R!Syaoran.

She wouldn’t wake up without the feathers, so I’d say they helped her to build her soul.

I have once thought about that… I think that Clow might have “copied” his heart into his creations just as R!Syaoran did with C!Syaoran. When we look at them, Kero and Yue put together kind of form Clow’s character (just like Spinel and Ruby form Eriol’s), which would make sense because C!Syaoran’s former character also seemed like something like a half of R!Syaoran’s character. Clow’s magic was greater than R!Syaoran’s, so the souls could stay in their bodies longer, maybe forever. The question is why they didn’t disappear when Sakura became their new master – but in fact, the magic in their bodies was still Clow’s, so it could have a satisfying explanation after all.

The last we saw of CCS!Sakura, she was thirteen years old, Clow!Sakura is sixteen, there’s a three year gap in all of this so there’s a lot they can play with. Like I mentioned in another comment, for all we know, Clow!Country could be just an illusion, or Sakura’s memories could be fabricated, maybe in a way to protect her from FWR, back in CCS, Clow protected Sakura and prepared for her maturing and passing the final trial with Yue by leaving an artifact with Kaho.
In CCS, Sakura is Clow’s heiress, she is the mistress of the (now) Sakura Cards and welds a considerable amount of power. Being Fujitaka’s daughter, she is also a descendant of Clow himself and while Fujitaka’s existence in CCS was explained towards the end, why was there a Fujitaka in Clow!Country? Specially when Clow himself was alive when Fujitaka first got there, and if you think about it, Fujitaka conveniently came from another world that we don’t know of.

No, actually, I’ve been thinking similar thoughts for a while now, especially since some Sakura somewhere traded her wand to Yuuko and now it’s sitting in Yuuko’s basement in payment for some wish. We know Yuuko can manipulate time and space…personally, I’ve been wondering if the Shaoran and Sakura from CCS didn’t voluntarily consign themselves to parallel (fabricated?) worlds in an attempt to foil Fei Wong Reed.
Argh I don’t know. My brain breaks when I try to think about it. But I just can’t escape the feeling that R!Shaoran and R!Sakura are the same as the CCS Shaoran and Sakura.

This chapter was beautiful! I love the scene when the “clones” are hugging each other, so pretty!
Now the next quest is to find the real Sakura, what I want to know is: we know where her soul is (tube), but what about her body? Did FWR cloned the body too or only her soul? If that’s the case, does that mean that body stolen by Kyle is the body of real Sakura?

but I’m pretty certain fwr switched the princesses in the ruins when the feathers scattered. c!Shao this way would be in love with r!sakura. My theory: real shao’s saku is CCS saku (he is a ccs shao – clow reed’s relative, same magic, same sword and so on). c!shao’s is r!clow!saku. so the princess’ copy (now without a soul) is just a memory container. In order to r!saku was saved and in love with shao she would have to regain her memories. Maybe the clone will fuse with her later or give away all her feathers more likely :3

2. I tend to the opinion that CCS is not a part of the Tsubasa story, and I think that it’s even become quite obvious in the last chapters. I believe that princess Sakura in the first chapter of Tsubasa was Real!Sakura, which means that she was the one who spent all her childhood with Clone!Syaoran, but it’s unlikely that she will ever get her memories back (which could be a “fair” prize Yuuko made her pay, because the relationship R!Syaoran paid with might have been the relationship with her). So, Real!Sakura is the one sleeping in the tube right now (I wonder if she’s dreaming about Watanuki? ^^)
3. I think he can’t clone a soul… It’s clear he cloned the body (the same as he did with Clone!Syaoran), that’s why C!Sakura was kind of “no one” in the beginning, but she started to get better after she got Real!Sakura’s feathers and she also began to develop her own soul (who we encountered in the Dream world and who just died ;____;). And are you perfectly sure that the one inside the tube is a soul? Why can’t it be a body? Wait, have we actually been informed that the feathers aren’t Real!Sakura’s?
I thought they were *confused*
4. I also don’t think it’s the tube at Yuuko’s, that one looked more like some kind of a model… I think that the tube is inside the ruins in Clow Country, because it has the same pattern as the wings.

Hum… We never know… I’m so torn in two. Maybe the Sakura who is “waiting” is not Clow!Sakura, but CCS!Sakura. And maybe the clone will end up with R!Sakura in the end, since INDEED they fell in love with each other when they were children. We never know xD

On the other hand, the bitches might as well be clonning experiments in order to perfectly clone Sakura and Syaoran when the time comes.

So sorry, but I have different opinion about this matter. Firstly, C!Syaoran was paying the prize and she didn´t cast the spell in the clone. The prize was his relationship with Sakura he cared about. (He was thinking about R!Sakura at thet time.) And Yuuko erased him from Sakura´s memory. It must have been R!Sakura´s memory (now scattered across the universe in form of feathers), because clones don´t have their own. I know that it´s not for sure (Fei Wang´s “explanations” are more confusing than helping:)) but even C!Syaoran doesn´t remeber anything what had happened before the rainy day when Fujitaka found him and doesn´t have R!Syaorans memories either.

That’s the thing, we don’t know it ^^ We don’t know if she removed Syaoran FROM the memories themselves or FOR clone!Sakura. For example, maybe Yuuko didn’t remove Syaoran from the memories themselves, because Syaoran still remembers everything. Maybe Yuuko removed Syaoran for clone!Sakura, in particular.
I’m not sure if I’m being clear, instead of removing Syaoran directly from the memories, Yuuko rather made clone!Sakura not to remember him, not “see” him. But he was still there, nevertheless.
Remember in Outo when the clone (sakura) was trying to remember of Syaoran and the spell “hit” her? So, that’s what I’m talking about, the real Sakura wasn’t exposed to that spell, so if she tries to remember him, maybe the spell won’t affect her.
I’m just seeing this as a way for Sakura to remember Syaoran in the end, I could be wrong ^^”

I didn’t mean directly “CCS!Sakura” from CCS, but her version from a different world. I didn’t think all the time she was a *clone* but, to tell the truth, my best friend did remark last March(!!! O.o) that she found TRC!Sakura really vague compared to CCS!Sakura and that she thought she was a clone as well! LOLL XDDDD I didn’t quite believe her at that time, but I agreed that TRC!Sakura still could have proved fundamentally different from CCS!Sakura, just like C!Syaoran was fundamentally different from R!Syaoran/CCS!Syaoran from the start. However, my friend said she had found TRC!Sakura different from the very start, but I argued that she was pretty much like CCS!Sakura in the first chapter LOLLLLL XDDDDD
I think all the parallel worlds idea is the key. The characters we’ve encountered in different dimensions so far were always the same as characters in original CLAMP creations (they had precisely the same characteristics and the way of speech, which is always very important for Ohkawa) – EXCEPT FROM Sakura and Syaoran. Ohkawa tried to fooled us in Sakura’s case by scattering her memories, so we were to believe she will eventually gain her old characteristics again, but in my opinion after Tokyo it started to be more and more obvious that she is just NOT the same. But all the time, her way of speech was one of the main keys, because it was the same as C!Syaoran’s and he WAS a clone.
Personally, I think that Ohkawa is really a genius – it is truly a masterpiece to be able to distinguish the characters who are seemingly the same just by such little details. It was something like a test for all long-time fans, I think ^^
But by the way, my friend (mugetsu01 here XD) is really scary in her predictions. I recall that after reading of volume 9, I noticed that Syaoran and Sakura on the cover of volume 1 have different outfits than the ones Yuuko had just confiscated them, and she asked: “So do you think they are different Sakura and Syaoran?” And I was like, “No, that’s too far-fetched…” LOLLLLL XDDDDDD And then, after reading of volume 10, we actually came up with a theory that TRC!Syaoran is a clone made from Bottle!Syaoran’s eye! LOLLLLL XDDDDDDD

I’ve heard a theory that Kyle is a clone also (and similar to Clow Reed at that), and that Fei Wang might want to revive Clow’s parents, as he was Chinese-English and Xing Huo is a Chinese name and Kyle sounds properly English, and Xing Huo even had Clow’s magic circle. I like the theory, but the problem is that “Fei Wang Reed” is a Chinese-English name also and he pointed out that Clow is his descendant XD I once thought he might want to revive Nadeshiko, but I’m starting to think it’s rubbish XDDD

I don’t think so O.o CCS story is one thing and TRC’s story is another completely different thing. The only common element we MIGHT have is CCS!Syaoran, and that TRC’s story might be happening WHILE Syaoran was theorically in “Hong Kong”. I don’t see it as a continuation, IF both stories are that connected, to me it’s two different stories happening at the same time.

Ah, I see why the confusion, that’s why you think I think TRC is a continuation of CCS. The thing is, I don’t think TRC!Sakura is CCS!Sakura, no at all. So far, Syaoran is the only character of CCS that MIGHT have appeared in TRC (and Clow, of course). When I said this:

Another theory I have is that R!Shao actually is CCS Shao. He was kidnapped and It could have happend during this Shao and Saku didn’t see eachother in the manga (so when he returned, he was all after this mess XD) ooor after the manga has ended. So he could have been taken from his world (where CCS!Saku is crying her eyes out about him). I know my memory is missing details right now. But that would leav R!Clow!Saku and C!Shao and the C!Clow!Saku which probably just died and her body was taken to FWR. One thing I don’t get is why she told “I love you” to R!Shao >_> Or did she say it in the name of the original? Oo” “we are all the same” so maybe all Sakuras think the same ;D

Hum… I’ll try to explain who’s in love with who, but I’m not even sure of that!
I think that, basically, clones are in love with each other and reals are in love with each other xD But I’m not even sure of that… The clone lived 7 years with the real Sakura, after all. They built together a relationship, and yet it seems that his “pair” is the clone Sakura, whom he killed and died in his arms.
As for clone!Sakura, that one I’m sure, she loves the clone because that’s the one Syaoran she interacted with the most. She opened her eyes in Hanshin and there he was, the clone.
As for real!Syaoran, I think he loves the real Sakura since he always saw her through the eye of the clone, and apparently he knew that Sakura’s clone was a clone.
And finally, real!Sakura. It’s true that she only interacted with the clone, but the clone is half of what the real!Syaoran is, so you can think that she fell in love with half of real!Syaoran’s heart.
Quite confusing, isn’t it?

Here’s my theory on the tube that I just came up with (I dono if anyone else has the same theory because I haven’t read other comments yet @.@)
I’m thinking that ‘inside’ the tube is another world, while the two ‘tubes’ we see that Yuuko and FWR have are just the ‘doorways/or almost mirroring glasses’ to see into the tube universe. So they both have access to it.

I’m betting the soul is in the tube in the weirdy space-time world that Fei Wong is hiding in. Her real body is still hidden in the ruins and he needs recover it to imprint it with the memories of her copy’s body, which Kyle retrieved. That’s my theory anyway…

In the first quarter of the manga (volumes 1 to 7) Shaoran (which is in fact the clone) is the central character. He is the one who protects Sakura, collects the feathers and through whose eyes we see the story. In the second quarter of the manga (volumes 8 to 14), Sakura (which is once again the clone!) is more and more awaken and starts being more active by helping gather the feathers (in Tornado country, Shara country, Piffle country, etc). In the third quarter of the manga (? volumes 15 to 22), real Shaoran awakens, join the initial companions, replaces in some way its clone into the journey and protects Sakura. Finally, in the last quarter of this story, it is revealed to us that there is an original Sakura and a copied Sakura. The missing puzzle pieces turn around this new character: Where is the original Sakura? What is the exact purpose of the copied Sakura? Since when was the original interchanged with its clone?
It looks like both clones are going to end up together and both originals together after all! No more need for Sakura to choose between two equally sweet heroes! Maybe the originals are going to head back to Clow while the four other companions (Kuro, Fye, cloned Shaoran, cloned Sakura) are going to stay in Nihon. And since Clamp specified that only one ?main? character will not have a happy ending, it becomes clear that its probably the bad guy, Fei Wang Reed!!

I think Fei Wang’s failed creations are failed attempts to clone Yuuko. They have powers similar to hers (see: Xing Huo), and Few Wang appears to want something similar to Yuuko’s powers as the dimensional witch.

Well, I was very busy the last few days, but I manage to read the Tsubasa chapters anyway.
The least we can say is that Tsubasa can be very confusing sometimes. So Sakura’soul was in the tube since chapter one, what a twist!
Who is Real!Syaoran’s Sakura? The original one of Clow country? Or is he really CCS!Syaoran and his Sakura is Sakura Kinomoto?

Since he didn’t had much time for the cloning, I guess he only duplicated her soul. So now, we have a body without a soul and a soul without a body. But now, I really need some explanation about where are the limits between soul, heart and memories, because it’s all becoming very confusing. *_*
And I’m glad we saw Kyle again. Now, the only dimension travelers left to go to Nihon-koku is Subaru and Kamui. ^_^
