So we’re back to Ohkawa’s children torture xD We see Yuui (our Fye) starting to lose his mind a little (or a lot?).
Then some time passes, I don’t know how much since time flows differently in the Valley, but apart from their ancient appearance and long hair, they also seem to have gotten a bit bigger.
I loved the spread with the twins, each in one page, surrounded by total darkness, I think everybody did. It quite reminded me of CLAMP’s old works. We don’t see pages like that everyday ^^
su_chan, indeed the snow has covered all dead bodies, CLAMP did think of everything, after all ^___^ Aren’t they just perfect? XD
The scene we saw back in Tokyo arc is reproduced here again, with Fye upstairs begging to die. Now we know why he wanted to die (so that his brother can leave the place and get rid of all the misfortune) and now we know what he wanted to do before dying (it was still a mystery back then). He wants to tell someone to save Yuui downstairs. Okay. I still don’t know why our Fye had that vision back in Tokyo, it seemed to be part of his memory, but I don’t know how he got access to it.
The infamous scene with Fei Wang finally appears. The conversation is pretty much the same that we saw back on Chapter 148, with some slight differences (like Yuui’s desire to go to another world where twins aren’t seen as a misfortune source).
Then, another revelation, the speech bubble that hid Yuui’s decision back on Chapter 148 is revealed! He chose himself! o.o
Well, I didn’t expect this, to tell you the truth. I actually thought he had chosen his brother and then Fei Wang cheated him. But going back a couple of chapters, we can see that Yuui’s intention was never to save his brother at first. No matter how much corpses he piles, he would never get to the top of the tower. He wanted to get out first, and then find a way to save his brother.
So here, even though I find very weird how he referred to himself as “Yuui” (I guess he wanted to make VERY sure about his decision XD), I see why he did it. He obviously didn’t think that Fei Wang would KILL the other, Fei Wang never mentioned he would do so. Yuui probably thought that his brother would still remain there, in the tower, so he could pick him up later. But Fei Wang, being the son of a bitch he is, had to kill the other in order to cast the curse on Fye, blaming Fye for the death of his brother, and by doing so, making Fye one of the pawns of his little game.
…well, we’ll see if I’m right XDDDDDDDDDD
Even though Ashura-ou is about to pick him up, I hope that Fye’s back-story won’t end here. We still have to see his life in Celes.

So Kohane-chan fell from the stairs… she thinks she must have been pushed by someone… hum… Most people guessed her mother had done it to her (even I), but if Kohane is not lying, it wasn’t.
This chapter was a typical “Kohane chapter”, one of those chapters that let you completely uncomfortable.
This chapter was also extremely painfully cute. Painful thanks to Kohane, of course, but cute thanks to Watanuki’s comfort, and even Doumeki’s! xD I loved when he patted her on the head :3 And I’m not even that fond of Doumeki XD
Now, are these japanese people scary or what? Taking this medium thing so seriously, talk about harassment. If this were to happen with every Brazilian medium who tells a lie on the TV, they would be so doomed xDDDDDDDDD
Then Kohane’s mother arrives (now, who thinks she is Karen with the devil inside? XD). She sees Doumeki and Watanuki, and nuh-uh, she’s not liking this at all. Where is Yuuko to teach this woman some lessons?
Is this the end of our boys? (I mean, look at her face xDDD)

Thank you for the summary of TRC 157!! Even though I saw the scans and have been keeping up with the spoilers, I was very, very confused. Now it makes more sense, and Fai’s statement of “you killed me” when Yuui/Fai first sees him is explained. (Still not seeing why Ohkawa thinks people won’t like Yuui/Fai when they know his full backstory…)

I’m half hoping he’s skulking around Celes. That could explain why Shaoran’s not feeling well. I miss Shaoran and Kurogane. Do something with them, CLAMP, please!

I think she was fearing that people wouldn’t understand why he had chosen himself? Or maybe she was just teasing XD But there’s still more about Fye’s past, I don’t think/hope that’s all we are going to see.

hey, be careful, Yui didn’t chose himself, that one talking is Fay, UP one, and chooses the other twin to be freed. I know there is falling snow in the last page, but the one talking is the tower one, Fay ;D

spoilers? ;D when I did my crappy attemp to translate the chapter I wrote that line could be said by Yui or by Fay, was unsure who was telling that even with the snow, and now I am sure and I know I was right, that could be/was Fay ^__________^

But how am I supposed to know since I am commenting about this chapter? Chapter 158 comes Wednesday, only, if things get changed, we’ll discuss about it then. But judging by this chapter alone, I think the one saying it’s Yuui.

The Fay that Kurogane and Syaoran have with them is Fye’s mind in Yuui’s body and the zombie child is Yuui’s mind in Fye’s body.
If you go on page 14, where the conversation between FWR and the twin from below begins, the twin said “…mata …yume” […again …a dream] looking at his bloody hands. To what FWR answered “Yume wa nai” [It’s not a dream].
To say “…again …a dream” can means to things. First, the twin had a dream and had just woke up. Second the current situation of the twin, being outside and having his hand covered with blood is ackward. Since FWR had to confirm that the current situation is no dream but reality. I’m thinking the second option is true.
Then, the twin who is talking with FWR have bloody hands so it has to be Yuui. Fye, in is tower is not trying to loosen the bars of his cell, so his hands are unharmed. But, Yuui wouldn’t think having bloody hands and being outside is unusual. So, it has to be Fye. The only explanation I found to explain this paradox is that FWR had used his magic to switch the twins’ souls, thus having Fye soul in Yuui’s body wondering how he can be outside the tower with bloody hands when he should be inside.
This way, we can explain why the Fye we had known from the beginning of TRC had memories belonging to both the twin from inside and the twin from outside the tower, But it also explains why he choose himself and phrase it like he wasn’t Yuui. FWR was probably aware that the two children will prefer to free the other one. So in order to be able to play with the guilty feeling of the survivor, he had to create a situation in which he could decide who lives and who dies.

Come on Chibi. It’s not your first time reading a story written by Ohkawa. She’s always giving the elements of a mysteries in order to make the readers believe something but letting enough clues to let you think there may some more to it. So when she is unveiling a mystery, the obvious solution is always a trap. You should know it by now. ^_~
And I’m miss Clonie too. -_-

Yes, there might be changes, and maybe what we see isn’t really what it really is. But I am commenting about this chapter ALONE, I am commenting basing on what I see, on what they showed and on what’s been released so far.
Yes, I always talk about theories and what I think will happen on the next chapters, however, this time I thought that was it! o.o and what’s wrong with that?
FOR NOW, I believe Yuui said it. And IF in the end we see that it wasn’t him, then I will say “whoa! Didn’t see that coming!” like I always do ^^””””
This time I believe them, time will tell whether they fooled me or not.
I just said what I said because su-chan told me to “be careful” O.o I am free to have my own conclusions basing on what was shown in the chapter, or am I not?

The whole Fai backstory thing is great and wonderful and all of that stuff, but would it kill CLAMP to just speed things up a little? I mean, I get enough flashbacks from LOST.

CLAMP has created a very good (ahem) past for Fye. It suits him a lot, because he’s always putting that mask over that frown! However, everytime CLAMP it confuses the heck outta me. So…was Fye the one on the ground, or in the tower? If he was in the tower he would have been the one going “I want to die”…but then did he??? So (our) Fai is really…Yuui? The one on the ground? SO CONFUSING!! O___o But…I need more.
xxxHOLiC!!! Love all around, here. I like how everyone is turning out. Especially Watanuki! And I like how they’re changing Doumeki too, because it just goes to show that no one is perfect everyone can be changed through life-threatening, occult-themed associations.

Wow. I never thought of that until you mentioned. When I checked the previous chapters, Yuui was actually piling up the corpses against the wall of the valley, NOT the tower. (I probably got that feeling of Yuui trying to reach his brother because he emphasized they should both leave so many times…)
But I still can’t say for sure who twin picked the option. Indeed there was snow inside the tower, and I don’t think Yuui would refer himself as “Yuui”…But I guess CLAMP should be capable of making this more clear. Maybe we will get some changes in the tanks?

I had never lived in Japan for longer than a week, but do they actually take it so seriously? They could hate Kohane-chan and never watch her shows again, but I just can’t imagine some busy citizens wasting time to react so violently and harass her like that.
