CLAMP NEWS !!


– Next scheduled chapters (red means new):

04/10 – Newtype #05 – No Kobato. scheduled (on sale).
05/10 – Newtype #06 – No Kobato. scheduled.
06/08 – Newtype #07 – Chapter 7.

The only change here is that the release date for Newtype #07 has been anticipated by one day, it was originally scheduled for June 9th.

The cover of XXXHOLiC #11 has been announced!

XXXHOLiC #11 will be released on the next May 17th.

• Game:

The official site of the XXXHOLiC game for PlayStation2 has been updated with some info about the story. Apparently, it’s going to follow the manga/anime storyline. For more information, please check this post.

CLAMP-NET.COM doesn’t say anything about CLAMP drawing the jacket illustration, unfortunately. Also, it doesn’t look like Tsubasa will be getting it’s own game.

XXXHOLiC ~Watanuki Izayoi Souwa~ will be released on August.

After Yui Makino and Fukuyama Jun’s participation on Komugikotoride no Yonshimin, the next guest to make an appearance on the show is Doumeki’s seiyuu, Nakai Kazuya! The episode with his participation will air on June 12th (This one goes for you, canon_4_life ^__^).

• Novels:

The 13th installment of the novel Soryuden, written by Yoshiki Tanaka, was released in 2003. However, that was the “normal” edition, for which CLAMP don’t draw the illustrations for. CLAMP only draw the illustrations for the pocket editions.

So, the pocket edition of the newest installment, entitled Soryuden – Volcanic Islands, will be released on the next May 15th, and the cover has been announced:

It features Owaru, the second youngest of the brothers. CLAMP drew the cover and the inside illustrations (for which I cannot wait to see *-*).

  4. OMG How I miss Soryuden and which it was a manga and not a novel. T_T
    OMG A PS2 game of Holic YAY, but wait how about Tsubasa PS2 game. I would love that one, All the game characters in one game would be awsome. *dreams*

    • CLAMP has drawn a manga based on Soryuden, but they dropped it even before a tankoubon could be released, I also think it could have made a very great manga.

      I was also surprised to see that TRC is not getting a PS2 game, since it’s story is quite game-appealing, more than XXXHOLiC is, actually.

      No, it’s not you xD Vol. 12 is very Tsubasa-ish, but somehow I’m expecting this volume to be a little bit less influenced by TRC and a little bit more influenced by Kobato ^^

      I wonder that too. Because the people who attended were very clear that it concerned XXXHOLiC AND Tsubasa. However, what if it has to do with what Ohkawa is currently writing?

        But everything drawn by CLAMP makes me happy, so I’m looking forward to seeing the other two.

  10. I waaaaaaaaaaant those two clear files ;_; They are the evil, used my two favourite images *bangshead* how could I get those two? ;_; 153&154 = Celes YAAY!!!!

    And … they are _still_drawing the Sohryuuden novels? O_O woooow… and, does that mean there will be managa images inside like the others? Ithink I see the art change in that cover for good ^___^

      Sou ne o.o And I don’t think it’s over yet xD I did a small research but it seems like vol. 14 hasn’t been released yet, so we will probably see the next pocket edition only in some years from now.

      • I thought the novels were finished …. So the anime I saw is far away from the novels story then, Tanaka is a really slow writer XDDD (and here comes the mandatory complaint about the anime char desings, WHY was not Clamp who did them???)

        They totally appealed for Fye shamelessly XDDD

        I think is Fay’s ‘moment’… and I do not complain AT ALL!!!!

          I’m not sure, but I believe that, by the time the OVA were released, CLAMP still didn’t draw the illustrations for it.

    what’s the different between pocket edition and the normal edition? I bought a pocket edition of Tokyo Babylon manga and I couldn’t find the normal edition at the bookstore. ^^;;
    does the bookstore stopped selling the normal edition one if the pocket edition are out?
    sorry if I ask too many question, Chibi Yuuto-kun. ^^;;

    *sigh* looks like I’m the only CLAMP fan who haven’t read Soryuden yet. ^^;;

    • I’m not the best person to tell you this, because I never holded the “novel” and the “pocket” edition to make any kind of comparition. However, I assume the main difference must be the size? The pocket edition must be smaller, in order to fit in your pocket? But the content must be the same.

      The price for the “novel” edition is 840 yens while the “pocket” edition is 714 yens. It’s not much of a difference so I guess it must be just the size o.o

    • the Japanese normal/pocket edition are pretty much the equivalant of American hardcover/softcover edition (although the Japanese normal edition isn’t always hardcover). The normal edition is the deluxe edition with bigger book size, fancier paper, top od the range ink and so on, the pocket version is smaller, with cheaper paper and ink. Both edition may be sold at the same time or the pocket edition may replace the normal one.

    The cover of Sohryuden looks so awesome (I want a bigger pic >.<), in fact, I don´t have the novels but I think it might look so cool when you puit all together to see the covers showing the changes on the drawing style *___*. When CLAMP goes on break in one or more series I always think they´re busy with something like this, don´t you think? , so what are they doing this break? That´s the big question xD

      Yeah, it could be (they are never resting, always doing something else xDD). However, their editors might not be happy about it xD I mean, they have to draw weekly chapters no matter how involved they must be with other projects. But, being Soryuden a Kodansha work, maybe they give them a discount xD

  20. Kobato didn’t miraclously came back for May in the end … I miss you Kobato! T_T

    Tsubasa and Holic are regularly published, I hope they won’t get postponed.

    Yuuko is lovely in her Spanish elegancy, with the lace fan and all! I wonder if Watanuki has a toreador outfit on the other side … ^_^

    About the PS2 game, Doumeki looks kind of weird on both picture from the main page and the cahracter page of the official site … Well, I don’t know if I’ll get it, it seems to be a bit too much for my level of Japanese, even if I already know the story (I’m so dead stuck in one of the MKR’s game, I don’t dare to try another RPG ^^; ).

    About Soryuden, it’s taking longer and longer between each book. ^^; Owaru is cute on this cover, Clamp seems to be more at ease with this style of drawing. Amaru was drawn only a couple of mounths after the style switch. I can’t wait for Tsuzuku and Hajime and the next artbook!

      I noticed that too. The illustrations of 12 were strongly influenced by TRC, but it doesn’t seem to be the case here (probably due to Kobato).

      Do you have any idea of how many volumes will Soryuden be?

        Or maybe it’s the Bastard‼ desease Hagiwara gave over to Clamp. And Clamp spread it around to Tanaka … that’s worth an inquiry …

        No idea, although there still Tsuzuku and Hajime to put on the cover in Chinese style of clothing, but the normal edition doesn’t follow that patern. They likely need to end the Chinese story (likely the soryuden guys in a former life), but I really don’t know how fast the story goes …

    TRC: Can’t we finally get a move on to Celes and then talk more about Fai’s past when they get there?! I’m dying to see that story already!! *becomes a little impatient now* MOU! >.<

    HOLiC: I hope that there will be more of Watanuki/Sakura-hime crossover on the world of dreams in the future. Demo, OH MY GOSH… I simply adore the cover for the 11 Volume. Yuuko Ichihara, you definitely are the sex goddess of CLAMP. I really love the detail of her hiding her face with the fan, so hontou kirei!! Fangirl "Squee" Level: Meltdown Alert!! ^//^
