Best left unanswered ^^
CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan has no main plot, just the missions of the three main characters, Akira, Nokoru and Suoh. Was that intended or the story was just -forgotten to be told-.
I think that is too rude to ask, and requesting for it to be removed.

I just realized those 2 questions are, actually, the same xDDDDD I’m sorry !
But I agree it is best to left unanswered xD I think not even CLAMP knows ^^” Because they wanted to let it opened.
Don’t worry about the other question, though. Clow_Shirow (the poster), didn’t mean to be rude, I’m sure ^^” We can rewrite it with better words and get the same meaning in case it wins.

Artists should be left to be as ambiguous as they want to be, with the freedom of being able to let the fans find something for themself. That’s how a fan should feel. Not everything has to be solid, complete, or every fact laid down, that would be extremely boring.
CLAMP has starte this magic, and they want the fans to continue the magic, don’t take that away.

No, please don’t re-write it or anything. I want the whole meaning and question entirely deleted and not ever spoken of.

Not to mention, it’s subjective judgement and actually not really true.

About the two questions being the same, I don’t think it’s the case :
1-What did Subaru WANTED TO HEAR (which is obviously not what Seishiro said or else, he wouldn’t have called him a liar…)
2-What did Seishiro SAID (and seemed to have lied about it from Subaru’s point of view…).

I think we will get the answer in the last tankoubon of X, we did know what Taishakuten and Ahura-Ou said and we did know what Seishirou said to Subaru when they first met under the sakura. Since the series isn’t over yet, this would be a plot related question. But anyway, Chibi Yuuto said it’s too late too remove question from the pool, so …
>CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan has no main plot, just the missions of the three main characters, Akira, Nokoru and Suoh. Was that intended or the story was just -forgotten to be told-.
Let’s try to reword: Clamp Gakuen Tanteidan was a series of unrelated detective inquireries, was it always intended that way or did you drop a stronger linking plot line somewhere in the conception of this project?

Owwww I hadn’t thought about that. You CAN be quite right ! Yes, maybe CLAMP let it opened but they used the same trick before…. twice ! XD So now it’s even more improbable that they will answer. I’m not sure if I should remove it, I really wanted to but I should have realized that before. I just hope people will think about it, and realize there are other questions in the poll, harder to be answered.

i personally don’t mind the CCD question. many of the detective stories start out to be plain mission stories, then go into the large mission plot. maybe CLAMP couldn’t figure out a suitable story or something, coz the question of whether they intended it to finish at 3 volumes still exists.

If you ask my opinion, I think that they always planned to make CCD the way it is. Sherlock Holmes, for example, it’s a series of individual cases where you don’t need to have read the other books to understand what’s going on.

Please, keep in mind that both (my boyfriend) and I are not native speakers of english. He initially wrote the question and I corrected it, but we were not aware of the subtle meaning and the negative connotations. And when he posted it, modified it again, so we thought there was nothing wrong with it.
Now that I see the wording, I can understand why some people find it offensive, but what we really wanted to ask is that if it was intended that CGD was originally formed by separated “missions” not related to each other or that if at some point, it had an underlying stable plot that would extend itself throughout the whole series.
As you see, it’s very difficult for me to try and explain it ^^u But we absolutely love CLAMP, we adored CLAMP Gakuen Tanteidan, and didn’t mean no offense with that question at all. Anyway, if the majority of people doesn’t like it, feel free to remove it. But please calm down and don’t be so harsh with him, I always feel horrible with these kind of things T__T

Just before dying, what did Seishiro said to Subaru? why did Subaru said he was a liar?
At the time I place this comment this topic is the second on the list of questions to ask CLAMP. Yes, we all are dying to hear Seishirou’s words, just as much as dear Subaru was, but even if we ask they won’t tell. Besides, even if they have an answer, by now does anyone truly want to hear? I will admit the first time I read that moment I want to know. I was dying to know. But after a while I appreciate that they never told us. Removing it would save room for another question, because I mostly don’t think they would want to tell us. Leaving Seishirou’s statement unspecified gives the readers more power over what is happening in a story. I feel as though they would something like that. ; )

I allowed because I didn’t think it was such a spoilery question. Since Seishirou is dead, I thought this was a “closed case”, that CLAMP left it opened what he said to Subaru, but I was wrong I guess.
>or some of the other questions asked (mostly character related) that point into a certain direction…
I’m sorry, but what other questions do you mean? I did my best to eliminate all the questions directly related to the plot of unfinished works, so if you had another question in mind that shouldn’t be there, please tell me.

What I mean is that
1) there is a lot of questions that have already been partly or completely answered by Clamp-sensei.
X, Clover and Gouhou Drug are all on hiatus […] did you ever consider to release them directly in tankoubon?
Do you watch fanarts and read fanfics of your works on the internet?
From all the dead characters, which one was the most painful for you to do? Which one do you think was most painful for your readers?
TRC has showed us there are so many worlds […]. Do you have a clear idea about the world in which the series will take place when you start creating it, and other works that share that same world?
Would you rewrite/redraw any of your works because you don’t like the initial ending you gave it?
Have you ever cried when you killed off a character? If affirmative, which one(s)?
How much time, usually, does it take to draw an entire page (starting from the storyboard until it’s completely done)?
[…] What can you tell us about the good and evil duality in all your works?
[…]did you ever have trouble meeting deadlines? If so, which series did you have the most trouble meeting deadlines with?
Is there any story you’d like to draw but never had the opportunity of doing it?
How much influential power do you have over the anime adaptations of your works? Who decides whether CLAMP shall join or not the main staff of the anime?
What is your opinion about the changes made to plotlines of your works when adapting them into anime? (e.g. Magic Knight Rayearth, Card Captor Sakura)
2) there is a lot of questions that ‘point into a certain direction’, i.e. it is very obvious what readers want to hear as an answer to those questions. The above(no. 1) also applies to some of those questions and Clamp have always answered them
VERY vaguely, which makes it clear to me they don’t want to answer those kind of questions so asking them(“pressuring them”) won’t make them give us those answers, either.
When Sakura asked Syaoran if he really had to go to Hong Kong, Syaoran answer […] he had things to do: what are those -things-?
Just before dying, what did Seishiro said to Subaru? why did Subaru said he was a liar?
In the end of CCS, Syaoran is in the bus and thinking: […] what would have he said after this -but…- ?
The question Clamp-sensei would liked to be asked most is certainly this one (IMO):
If the Gohou Drug and the XXXHOLiC cast gathered one day to play mahjong, who would’ve won? Who would’ve been the worst player, Kazahaya or Watanuki?
In one interview they were asked “if they would want to challenge a new manga genre and if yes what it would be” and all of them answered “mahjong!!!” in unison ^^;;! Now, I wouldn’t understand a word of that manga, for sure!!!

Actually, it was Kokuyo, not Kakyou ^^; I might want to change that in the next phase if this question is chosen. (I really hope so! Now that it’s mentioned, I feel the urge to reread Wish and ponder about it.)
>Lately, a lot of popular manga are being turned into (life action) movies or musicals. If you were offered the possibility to turn one of your works into a movie or musical, which work would you like to see most? (Who should play the the roles of the [main] characters?)
I think Satsuki said something about this in one of her Newtype editorials… Too bad I can’t find them ^^;

Something to do with God Mokona, maybe?
>It is noticeable that you use many references from occult/esoteric/Qaballistic/Western traditions in your works. Are you a member of any of them? Which ones? Or is it just that you like to study those traditions in books? Thank you for the wonderful works.
From my experience with Evangelion I know that Qaballa and Christianity are for Japanese what Hinduism is for your average European – they look cool, they’re foreign and interesting, etc. Not to say they’re meaningless, but I think they’re mostly there to spice the story up – or, in Karen’s case, to add to the mystery surrounding her. (“A mysterious woman with a mysterious past working in a shady place – and a Christian, at that! There MUST be something about her!”) Of course, this is nothing but my opinion.
> There are a lot of references to Yumegari in xxxHOLiC, do you mean to continue this story in any form (movie, book serialize on your website, tv anime, etc.)?
Please answer yes, please ;-; I really strive for more Yumegari, it had such a cool premise and characters… Although now that I think about it, it sort of steps into Holic’s territory, and Clamp probably wouldn’t like to do two titles dealing with such ‘spiritualism’ in such a short interval, let alone at the same time.
>Do you know how many volumes your current series will last?
…I think this one means essentially the same as “How long will TRC and Holic run” o_o ^^;
>Would you rewrite/redraw any of your works because you don’t like the initial ending you gave it?
I’m pretty sure they’ll answer “Wish”, Nekoi said something about that in the CnK interview. But others…? I don’t think so.
>Are there more X pages drawn that the ones released? Stored somewhere in a safe place waiting to be released someday?
>If X is resumed, will it have the same art style it had before or will it be affected by the new CLAMP style?
Interesting questions. Originally, Mokona was X’s main artist, but from what we’ve seen in Kobato, she’s drifting towards a more light, CCS-esque shoujo style to the point where Satsuki’s art style looks more similiar to the one in X’s last chapters. (Wait, wasn’t Satsuki drawing CCS? Does tha mean that she and Mokona sorta exchanged art styles…? @_@) I wonder, will they have Satsuki drawing X should it ever come off hiatus? Anyway, I really hope Mokona has drawn enough pages to end volume 19. Whatever the new style might be, jumping from the old one to the new one in the middle of a volume would be quite a shock, methinks
>The occurance of a character losing sight in one eye seems to happen frequently in your works. Does this hold any special meanings for you? Any special symbolizations?
Why do I have the feeling this question will be chosen? XD No, really, it’s happening so often, it’s not even funny. Maybe Ohkawa just came up with the idea one day and said, “Okay, people, from now on half-blind characters will come up A LOT in our stories, so that in the future, when people will think about someone losing an eye, they will say >>Oh, Clamp did that a lot!>>” Maybe she wanted it to become their trademark or something XD

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought all the Gohou Drug illustrations were included in the South Side artbook? Still, they said GD was supposed 3-5 times longer, so if they ever continue it, this seems like a plausible idea. As for XXXHolic and TRC, I think a combined artbook for those two is possible.
>The characters in some of your works(i.e. Yuuko in Holic) have a very distinctive fashion sense. Have you ever thought of designing/ been offered to design your own line of clothing?
I think the topic of Clamp releasing their own clothing and mechandise came up a while ago…? Anyway, I think they’ve had it in their minds for the whole time.

>Who does the design and the updates of your official site?
A hired webdesigner, I presume. (Although now I’m curious, who was in charge of those adobrable icons from the Loft section…?)
>Since the Shin Shunkaden series was interrupted before the end, how was it originally supposed to end and what was up with Chunyan’s father?
Another question I REALLY want the answer to ;-; COME ON, Clamp, it’s been ages since Shin Shunkaden’s end, and you’ve had more than enough chances to wrap the story up. (CnK interview, the Koriyo arc in TRC…) So at least give us a clue?
>When Sakura asked Syaoran if he really had to go to Hong Kong, Syaoran answer he had to go no matter because he had things to do: what are those -things-?
Well, when you’re a 12-year-old descendant of a major Hong Kong clan, you can’t exactly hang out in Japan, especially when you’ve got no explicit reason to do so. (No Clow cards to capture or transform into Sakura cards, etc.)

>>Would Igarashi be interested in becoming the main illustrator of one of the
>Clamp series?
>I thought she was the main artist for TRC and CCS? o_o;
No, it’s Mokona. I know that the drawing style change a lot between Magic Knight Rayearth and Card Captor Sakura, but it’s still Mokona who do the main drawing. She, Mick and Satsuki just get soooo dead after doing MKR with all the toning and all the details that the studio change their style to something very quicker to do, but Mokona was still the main artist
>>Considering many of Seiden’s main characters are virtually teachers for the
>Clamp Gakuen, can we consider the all Seiden story as a play from the teacher
>for a school festival?
>Seiden, you mean Seiden RG Veda? When did this happen? o_o; I knew Clamp
>crossed over and reused many of their characters and places in their doujinshi
>days, but I never heard of this ^^;
It happens in the Shoten doujinshi, 20 Mensou and Gakuen Tokkei Dukalyon. In 20 Mensou the kindergarten teacher Utako was in love with was Shiva (not in RG Veda, but an Idian god non the less). Then in GTD there was Shiva’s boyfriend (not in RG Veda but again a Indian god) and Ashura-Oh. I suggest you to take a look at Katko’s Clamp Celebration ( http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Palace/8883/ ). It’s a long dead site (no updates for years), but you can see the color pages of the Shoten there and one of them show Ashura-Oh as a Clamp teacher ( http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Shrine/1777/Shoten5-star-title.jpg ).
>>If X is resumed, will it have the same art style it had before or will it be
>affected by the new CLAMP style?
>Interesting questions. Originally, Mokona was X’s main artist, but from what
>we’ve seen in Kobato, she’s drifting towards a more light, CCS-esque shoujo
>style to the point where Satsuki’s art style looks more similiar to the one in
>X’s last chapters. (Wait, wasn’t Satsuki drawing CCS? Does tha mean that she
>and Mokona sorta exchanged art styles…? @_@) I wonder, will they have Satsuki
>drawing X should it ever come off hiatus? Anyway, I really hope Mokona has
>drawn enough pages to end volume 19. Whatever the new style might be, jumping
>from the old one to the new one in the middle of a volume would be quite a
>shock, methinks
Again, Satsuki never was the main artist in any of Clamp published manga. She was putting on screen tone, she was designing the tankoubons, inking Mokona’s drawing but she never did the main artist job. That’s why people talk about Clamp new art style, it’s because they still have the same main artist but she changed the way she draw. I mean Clamp main artist was Akiyama Tamayo, Sei Leeza, Mokona Apapa and later Nekoi Mick, am I right ?

The occurance of a character losing sight in one eye seems to happen frequently in your works. Does this hold any special meanings for you? Any special symbolizations?
I sooo want to hear the answer to that >__< !!

Done. ^^ I tried not to vote on more than 10 questions and not on the ones I knew Clamp wouldn’t answer anyway, but uh, it was difficult to choose – quite a few options sounded really good to me. I wouldn’t be able to decide on just one myself. xD;

Voted the ones I considered more interesting, or the ones that they’ll be more likely to reply. For example, I don’t care at all if they read fanfics, or I know they will be a little “^^U” if they ask her about couplings. I tried to center on their works (yes, I mean THAT series xD) and on their creative process and future plans.

That’s exactly on the ones I voted as well ^^

Oh, that’s not fair. How to choose just a few… they’re almost all so good!
Anyway, of course I want to know what Seishirou said and what Subaru wanted to hear (even if I’m pretty sure it’ll be what we all expect – after all CLAMP are not that unpredictable. The fans glorify them a bit too much on this score, imho).
Though I suppose No, I know it. I do not believe that they change their way of handling this kind of… situation. BLEH. this will be answered eventually when X ends.
The Clow-Questions are the best. But I suppose this could be a TRC/xxx-holic plot so they won’t answer this questions as well! ;_;”
Maybe Clow and Yuuko are the kids of Mokona… Clow=Adam, Yuuko=Eve, Mokona=God… *lol*

Wow, that’s a LOT of questions!
Also, I don’t want to offend anyone, but a lot of these questions I’m sure are the types that CLAMP wouldn’t answer/dodge/make excuses for, especially the “playing favourites” type of questions. >_>

And I forgot to add:
“… also the type of plot-related questions that deal with unfinished series like X, tsubasa, holic, etc, since what people are asking may be answered in the original plot anyway, and CLAMP is not known to give anything away.”
Remember that CLAMP is not a plot-device machine, but just four hard-working women who happens to do their job extremely well. ^^;

I also don’t think the “favorites” kind of question are good choices, it’s hard for them to pick since they are the creators. Everything has a special meaning.
However, I couldn’t say “Your question was rejected because CLAMP has no favorites” XDDDD It’s hard to say that. Apart from the ones who fitted in the “black list”, I accepted ALL the questions.

So many questions, many of them truly interesting!
Maybe we should ask CLAMP to do an encyclopaedia for their works instead… not something like CLAMP no Kiseki who merely summarized the main manga’s plots or Tsubasa Charactere Guide that, mostly, points out what had been already said in Tsubasa but a real IN DEEP guide, with story about the work planning, the first character sketches, unexplained factors they didn’t bother to explain in the manga (what about subaru’s parents? Is CLAMP Gakuen still standing after X? Tomoeda is in an alternate world? The story of Tomoe and Yuto is the same of Hagunsei Senki or they are alternate versions of the characters showed in it?), timeline, idea thrown away, synopsys of stories that didn’t make into official pubblication (Hagunsei Senki and all the works that ended up on CLAMP Shoten), the extra that had been printed on CLAMP News and that are really hard to find by now, opinions over the anime/movie/OAV/Music video a table that will explain connections between all their works, pictures that never made into official artbooks.
Okay… so it would be really hard to deal with it for many of us since only few can read Japanese but still… I’m sure CLAMP fans would apprecciate it…
Oh well… just wishful thinking…

That would be like a dream XDDDD But they never did something like that. It would be too much of a dream. But usually writers don’t do this kind of stuff because that would be like giving away TOO MUCH.

Well… if the story is finished they might share with us some details that they think will never be used/revealed again or that isn’t really compromising to reveal.
For example it would be nice to have Subaru and Hokuto’s room reprinted or their horoscope (all things they revealed on CLAMP News) and I don’t think it would be terribly compromising to give us a timeline of their work (I tend to assume xxx Holic is either placed before X or in a parallel world because Japan is still standing but maybe X characters rebuilt it with a Sakura feather or something… and there’s no track of persocom in X so it might be they were invented after but we’ve the same Tokyo Problem… however it might be that CLAMP intended for Persocom to be done before 1999 and they simply didn’t end up showed in X [okay, so I know they couldn’t be showed in X because Chobits had been done after X but they might explain their esistence like that]) or that Chobits is placed in a parallel world…
I don’t think knowing that would give away too much of the stories…
OK so I just know they won’t do such work anyway (I was hoping CLAMP no Kiseki to be like that and I was SO disappointed…) but I can still dream, can’t I? ^_-
And maybe I’m just a bit too getting information obsessed…

Uh-oh….I could have bought all Clamp’s old doujin (Clamp Shoten the Clamp news thing…everything!) for ‘not that much at all'(like 500 Yen a book) if I wanted in Tokyo…but I didn’t wanna spend that much money so I went with what I really wanted, i.e the Oofuri doujin/ having copies of unpublished Garakame chapters made at the national library. Should I regret this…? I’m not sure….

Well… I don’t know… I would regret it for sure… all those unedited elsewere pictures and manga… a bit of the manga transposition of the TB oav… the TB plot episodes… the series that gave life to Combinations… Lot of info over the Imonoyama family… *wails* I would definitely regret it expecially since they’re almost impossible to get in my country! (even if I’ve to admit I’ll have to check how many euro are 500 Yen before truly wailing…)
However, since I’ve no idea if you were interested in all this, maybe you didn’t do bad. It depends really.

there’s good questions up there!! x3 was hard to choose a few. But I really think many of them will not be answered by clamp XDDDDD specially those who are related to their unfinished works, I don’t think anyone would like to sort of make an spoiler XDDDDDD of their works by answering that sort of questions, so thay may avoid them or give so short answers like “Oh well, keep reading and you’ll find out”, cuz it’s better if you get to know it by reading it obviously, even if the works have problems with publishing them. Other than that the questions were really great X3 o.o I think you should pick 3 main questions…you know…if by casuality XDDDDDDD the other people asking, ask the same question XDDDDDD but I dunno, that would be difficult, but not impossible X3.
Thanks for the poll chibi yuuto-sama, I’m curious to know which will be the winner question o,o

Is it really true that the CCS anime was heavily edited? Do you mean the dub or the subtitled version as well? If so, what was cut out? (Links to other places with the answer are fine)
LikeLike
The Ameriacan dub version was heavily edited, not the sub, that why they are sold separately. I know all the clues for homosexual love were cut out, either Tomoyo/Sakura, Touya/Yukito or Yukito/Syaoran (is there any other … Sonomi/Nadeshiko maybe …). I hear the episode 35, the Christmas one, was quite awkward. ^_^
There might be other edited stuff as well, but I don’t know the details.

Most of the names were changed, Syaoran/Sakura was edited out [!!!!] as well as Terada/Rika, thy cut lots of scenes and skipped the first 7 episodes, they changed a lot of dialogue, the actors pronounced Clow wrong… and this coming from someone who hasn’t actually seen a single episode!! [I just read stuff from sites.]

Dropped by and voted for a few, but I wanted to ask anyone else following this thread one thing–I’ve always seen Subaru’s line immediately following Seishirou’s words translated as Seishirou never saying what Subaru EXPECTS him to say, not that Seishirou never says what Subaru WANTS him to say. Anyone have any more information on this? It’s a very significant difference. And if we assume that Seishirou said ‘I love you’, Subaru not expecting the phrase makes much more sense than Subaru not wanting the phrase.
*ahem* That aside, regarding Clow Reed and Cephiro, what if it’s the other way around as in the question? Clow Reed has probably known magic for longer than he’s known God-Mokona, so it isn’t very likely to me that his magic was greatly affected by symbols in Cephiro. But Yuuko says she and Clow Reed met God-Mokona, so what if that meeting came before the creation of Cephiro, and god-Mokona, out of fondness for Clow, incoorporated some of his symbols with the new land?
