A hotsite to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Card Captor Sakura has opened today: http://ccsakura-official.com/

The site lists all the information related to the anniversary and its related projects like the artbook, the Animate cafe, the TV Anime rebroadcast, among others.

Perhaps the newest information is regarding a set of stamps that will be released on April 1st (Sakura’s birthday) and can be purchased via Japan’s post website — I am not sure if it’ll also be available in physical post offices. The stamps were based off a new illustration drawn by CLAMP.

A set of a clearfile (A4 size) featuring the same newly drawn illustration and the “sticker and letter set” that originally came as a Nakayoshi appendix back when Card Captor Sakura was being published will be on sale on the same day.

Lastly, more details about the new Card Captor Sakura short manga/one-shot will be announced in the May issue of Nakayoshi magazine (out on April 3rd).

The new illustration looks so great! Are we in 2000?

Here’s the front and back cover of the upcoming Card Captor Sakura 20th Anniversary Artbook. The book will come in a shiny clear case in which the design matches the one for the Nakayoshi 60th Anniversary re-edition.

The artbook will be released on March 24. You can order it online from CD Japan, YesAsia and Amazon.co.jp.

It’s been also announced that the lolita brand of clothes BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT will release a collaboration dress inspired by the one Sakura is wearing on the artbook cover.

Don’t you think the spine looks a bit thick for a 144-pages book? But I guess it’s just the clear case… plus, there’s also the chronology poster.

Episode 25 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

This episode’s guest was Mika Kikuchi (Mokona’s seiyuu), so they basically spent the entire episode interviewing her.

At one point, around halfway through, Mika Kikuchi interviewed CLAMP a little bit, too.

I apologize for not having anything else to add about this episode, I just find it more interesting when it’s just the 4 of them.

Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #3 news

As previously announced by the CLAMP members themselves on their radio show, the third and final volume of Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen will have a special limited edition with an audio drama.

According to leaked scans of Chapter 19:

  1. The story of the audio drama is going to be from the special chapter published in Weekly Shonen Magazine in February 2015.
  2. The 16-pages special chapter will come as a booklet so one can follow it as they listen to the audio drama.
  3. The audio drama will come in a “Playbutton” (like the one that came with XXXHOLiC Rei #3).
  4. The cast will be the same as the TV Anime and OADs.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Tsubasa – WoRLD CHRoNiCLE – Nirai Kanai hen #3 will be released on July 15.

I am surprised that it’s going to be released only in July… will they wait for XXXHOLiC Rei #4 to make a joint release? Or is there another reason behind it? CLAMP said on their radio show that there will be announcements in volume 3 so I wonder if that has anything to do with this…

Episode 24 is up for download at CLAMP no Kyoto Agaru Sagaru‘s official website.

They opened the show talking about their mascots since that was the subject of a message from a listener that Nekoi read.

They talked some interesting trivia like the size of their mascots: Mokona is the size of a hand palm (around 20cm), Kero is the size of a 3-months old cat (around 24-25 cm).

Next, they read a message from a listener about their characters wearing kimonos in their works, Mokona talked mostly here. I think she talked about the things she consider when drawing a kimono for certain characters (wrinkles, belt width, character’s body type etc).

After that, they moved the topic to a more nostalgic one and discussed about their early events such as CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 1 and 2 (not the video, there was a CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 event in the 90s). They went very nostalgic here talking about details around these events, like the doujinshi they did featuring characters from JoJo Bizarre’s Adventure, Sonic and their own characters.

They also talked about more recent events, such as the CLAMP FESTIVAL and their attendance in the Nagoya edition in 2012.

I think Ohkawa asks each of them their favorite thing about events. I think Nekoi replied for her it’s all the interesting food and Mokona said she likes the Art Exhibitions.

Although it’s not really an event, they talked about the Animate x Card Captor Sakura cafe that is going to be held throughout 2016.

Lastly, they talked about a “mystery tour” that they would like to do? I’m not sure what this is but I think it’s a Japanese term. Is it like a clue game? Ohkawa then mentions something about wanting to do something in the summer? More events? Or is it this mystery tour thing? I couldn’t understand this part and it’d be great if anyone could confirm this to us.

Next week will have Mika Kikuchi (Mokona’s seiyuu) as guest.

It seems like they heard my complains of last week’s episode. This episode had a lot of interesting and foreshadowing info.

For the opening talk, they read a message from a listener who wrote saying that their favorite work was Tsubasa and GATE 7 (I think?), or maybe they liked seeing GATE 7‘s characters in Tsubasa. They asked CLAMP a question and each member replied and I believe it had something to do with people with important historic roles because Nekoi mentioned Iemitsu and Ohkawa mentioned Marie Antoinette — I’m actually curious to find out what she said about her.

Next, Mokona read a message from a listener who had bought this month’s Shonen Magazine SPECIAL and they wrote about the Nirai Kanai hen reaching its end, so they asked CLAMP about what would come next and suggested that it could well be a “Kinugawa Onsen hen” — this is because CLAMP went there in the beginning of this year to do some location hunt.

After that, the CLAMP members went crazy wondering about the funny things it could happen with the Tsubasa characters in the hot springs of Kinugawa Onsen (the place is famous for its hot springs).

Then, around 8:00 minutes I *think* Ohkawa says that their trip to Kinugawa Onsen was not for the sake of Tsubasa but for the sake of (another) work. But I’m not 100% sure about this. They add that they really enjoyed going there.

I’ve seen people tweeting about the final Nirai Kanai hen volume having a few announcements but again, I’m not 100% sure about this.

After that, they talked about X for a few minutes! Of course, nothing that we *really* want to hear, but they talked about their characters for a but.

Ohkawa joked that Watanuki had been dreaming for 2 months — because that’s how long the manga was on hiatus before the last chapter came out.

Then, Ohkawa asked each member to talk something about Tsubasa, something that they missed or they will miss. Mokona said something about action scenes.

Ohkawa later asked the other members what other world they would like to see the gang go to next. Mokona said something about angelic world? Not sure here, but after that they all starting playing with the idea of the gang landing in Rayearth‘s world, the real one and not an alternate version of it. They played with the idea of Mokona meeting the real creator Mokona from Rayearth.

Mokona said (I think) she would like the gang to land on the otherworld where Ioryogi lives. Ohkawa then says that they already visited the Kobato. world in the TV Anime series (she wrote the script for that episode).

Ohkawa said something about CLOVER‘s world (YES!) and then GATE 7‘s world, like, the real one in Kyoto. But that would be our very own Japan and our very own Earth, right…? She said something about all the lamens they would get so she was probably just joking…

They went back to the supposed “Kinugawa Onsen hen” talk and Ohkawa then said “If Kodansha is OK with it, let’s do it”.

By the way, their radio show was originally scheduled up to March, but according to CLAMP-NET.COM’s calendar, it’s been renewed for one more month (for now). So it’ll run at least until the end of April (yay!). After that, we’ll see.

I’m very proud of my summary this time! Yay me xD

Card Captor Sakura 20th Anniversary Artbook cover art

The newly drawn illustration that is going to be used for the cover of the upcoming Card Captor Sakura 20th Anniversary Artbook has been revealed.

In addition, more details about the artbook were announced: the artbook will come in a sparking clear case — which could explain the price — and include a 70 x 100 cm poster with the chronology of Card Captor Sakura.

The artbook will be released on March 24.

This isn’t really the art I was expecting for the cover (I liked more the one for vol. 9 Nakayoshi 60th Anniversary limited edition), but it’s still a great art nonetheless, of course.

Also, in case you missed, this month’s issue of Nakayoshi is announcing that CLAMP will be drawing a new Card Captor Sakura story in 2016, and according to Comic Natalie, it’s going to be a one-shot and not a full series. Details regarding storyline and publishing date are yet to be announced.

Stay tuned for more info as they come!

CLAMP to publish new “Card Captor Sakura” manga (Updated)

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD. / 講談社

© CLAMP・Shigatsu Tsuitachi CO.,LTD. / 講談社

According to Anime News Network:

The April issue of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine announced on Thursday that the members of the creative team CLAMP are publishing a new manga in their Cardcaptor Sakura franchise. The announcement does not list any details about the new work, and the magazine says it will announce which future issue will run the new manga when that is decided. The Japanese wording of the announcement indicates that the new manga is not a full-length series.

So it looks like it’s going to be a celebratory, temporary thing. Longer than an one-shot but shorter than a full series.

I already hear the OAD bells.

Update: according to Comic Natalie, it’s going to be a one-shot.
