I finished my review last time with “It’s the beginning of the end!” and on this chapter a character literally says that!
Super pretty color spread with mothers and daughters, each wearing a dress inspired by their favorite flower. Lillie’s lilly dress is beautiful. So campy!
It’s always exciting when the Mysterious Cloaked Figure appears! And for the first time, they spoke! I wonder if Sakura recognized their voice at all… she woke up and began talking to Fujitaka, so we ended up not finding out. The Brazilian Portuguese translation took for granted the fact the Mysterious Cloaked Figure is a girl, since they are using female gender to refer to her in Sakura’s speech. I thought that was a careless decision given that we don’t really know their identity.
We have a glimpse of the dress that Sakura will likely be wearing at the play. Here I thought we would see the whole dress this chapter, because Ohkawa-sensei and Mokona-sensei said so in a recent twitter space they did together, but they completely trolled us.
The Mysterious Cloaked Figure confirms that once they meet in person outside the dreams, mostly likely during the play (given the dress), it will the beginning of the end. Yet another indication that it might not be Akiho at all under the cloak given that Sakura and Akiho already know each other outside the dream (unless you consider that the beginning of the end, lol). Do you remember opening words of Clear Card arc?
Fluffy adorable father/daughter moment with Fujitaka. Don’t we love Fujitaka? I think he looks more like an adult in this chapter (I think some of the previous ones he was looking a little younger due to CLAMP’s current art style).
Loving all the visual parallels between the scenes of Sakura and Akiho.
Once again Kaito shows an intention to touch Akiho’s head, but hesitates and withdraws his hand. This has happened too much times and I wonder if there’s some bigger meaning behind it.
We could see a bit more of Akiho’s clan magic circle! But we need a clear image :3
We learn that Akiho’s parent died in an accident to protect her when she was less than a year old, or at least that’s what she’s been told. I don’t remember if we knew that they had died to protect her. I am treating this as new information.
It’s also worth mentioning what Akiho said that Kaito was hired to take care of her by someone from her family.
It’s good to see Kaito making an effort to make Akiho feel better about herself (touching the chair, but still not touching her). I want to point out that Kaito is wearing what I think it’s Chinese-inspired clothes. This could be relevant to learn about his unknown background.
I was very surprised when Akiho said that both her parents liked chocomint. We know very well that Lillie said that her beloved one did not like it. It’s not a translation mistake because it’s like that in the Japanese version too. Kaito’s expression is also shocked when he hears it from her. Is he shocked because Akiho asked this around (why would he be, though?), or is he shocked because he knows this isn’t true? Akiho said she asked her family. Did they lie to her? Why would they, though?
If it’s true, what happened there? Did Lillie convince him to like chocomint (hardly) or she ended up not having Akiho with him? Anyway, that bit is confusing.
Although we were all pretty much sure that Lillie was Akiho’s mother, until now we did not have an explicit confirmation. This finally came with this chapter and we can say for sure that they are mother and daughter.
Kaito definitely feels guilty from what he told the magic association. He had hoped they would ignore her and leave her to have a normal life, but they didn’t. He feels somewhat responsible for what happened to her afterwards. This was very clear to me ever since we saw that flashback for the first time many chapters ago.
We end the chapter with Sakura creating two new cards from inside her dream: CHOICE, based on Touya (who looks like a cool knight), and KINDNESS, based on Fujitaka (who looks like a high-end Professor). I guess the conversation she had with Touya in Chapter 58. And come to think of it, Touya is a character who is always very assertive about his own choices.
27 cards so far! C’mon, Sakura, please create the one Kaito is waiting for……. could it be an Akiho-based card? We also don’t have cards based on Yamazaki, Chiharu, Eriol, Kaho, Nadeshiko, the guardians, Clow, Sakura herself, Kaito (!).

Chapter 62 will come out on April 30th!
It’s interesting that both “Alice” waking up and see their favorite people getting blanket for them, and they are thinking of each other about trying their best in theater. Interesting to know more about both Akiho and Kaito’s feelings, especially he at least felt responsible for the clan to start using her (he didn’t “not” have any feeling for Akiho and just merely use her)
