Kobato. Drop. 6 by CLAMP No Lumiere

Happy Birthday CLAMP No Lumiere!

Those damn SFX… *mumbles*


LOL @ Bee-Ioryogi XDDD The illustration’s composition is very similar to that CLOVER one, don’t you think?

I looove that crazy dimension-traveler street pole is also in Kobato. xD Kazahaya, Yuuko (and Watanuki) and now Ioryogi has passed between a wall and a street pole to go to another dimension. Freak xD Oh, there’s also that crazy girl of Sonoko-chan’s One Day short comic of CLAMP No Kiseki, she airily walked through without really knowing what could happen to her xD

I wonder why a pole? Is there some kind of legend in Japan regarding street poles? Anyway, I’ll have to remind myself of walking through a street pole whenever I go to Japan.

And I was right! It was Baumkuchen Ioryogi went to see! I guess it wasn’t that hard to guess…

The thing is, we get a lot of information about these creatures. We learn that their names are not really their real names, neither their forms and jobs. We also learn that Ioryogi did some crap in the past, which might answer why he’s now helping Kobato.

And it seems like the creatures (Ioryogi, Baumkuchen and Ginsei) all answer to a superior someone, and are all doing “jobs” on this Earth, and Ushagi is the messenger of that someone (could it be a God? Like in Wish?). We also learn that Kobato is not a normal girl (which was pretty obvious).

I’ll be looking forward to Baumkuchen’s “information gathering” skills and his findings, I wonder how he’ll manage to do it…

Hey hey, look who’s there… one of the yakuza dudes! Big surprise for me. I could swear we would never see him again, but world goes ’round and he’s back. Why is he in pain? Did someone beat him? Will Kobato help him? ‘Course she will…

I want more Kobato. u.u

  3. It’s Clamp no Lumiere’s birthday? O_o (rushes outside to grab a bunch of plum blossom branches) Happy Birthday!

    I wonder why a pole? Is there some kind of legend in Japan regarding street poles? Anyway, I’ll have to remind myself of walking through a street pole whenever I go to Japan.

    I think it’s rather amusing that such, um, fierce looking creatures seem to fear Usagi, who looks pretty harmless (but then again, so do the Mokonas and Kero-chan).

      LOL! But it was to meet the Yumekai that Yuuko and Watanuki went through the pole, not Spider Lady, but it could be the same dimension XDDD

      I guess that it has to be narrow enough so that most people won’t get into another dimension accidentally, you know? That’s kind of Harry Potter-ish. The passage must be of hard-access for “muggles”.

      I don’t think they fear Ushagi itself, more like it’s sender xDDDDDDDDDDD

  4. EEE!!! Kobato!!! I needed something cute and fluffy to take my mind off RL events.

    Happy Birthday to CLAMP no Lumiere!

    CLAMP’s going to make a whole world surrounding these cute, fluffy creatures, aren’t they? Sidekicks with a whole universe and plot of their own…

    But that gangster…he’s the one who pulled Kobato’s hair! That scene, where he pulled her hair, shocked me more than when Fay got a visit from the eye fairy. Maybe because Kobato pretty much emits innocence from her every pore and should never have violence used against her and maybe because I have really long hair and it just naturally bothered me! I didn’t expect to see him again, either. Smells like plot coming next time! why oh why is this a monthly release…

      Indeed. And I love Ohkawa for bringing such an “unimportant” character back again. That scene shocked me too, but she’ll help him, she’ll heal him and that will show how Kobato is like, how she helps anyone unconditionally, even if it’s someone who pulled has once her hair ^^””””

  16. Dangit CLAMP give us longer chapters! I really do like Kobato, but the chapters are so short that nothing seems to happen! ALthough I bet your right and Kobato helps that Yakuza guy, maybe he’ll be able to explain what’s going on.

    • Indeed seems like Kobato. is also related to Wish. Which is completely understandable given the fact that Gouhou Drug and Wish share an unknown connection (and GD and Kobato. are in the same universe).

    For some reason, I felt that CLAMP had fun with this chapter of Kobato. Maybe it’s just my impression? I smiled at your credit page; it looked like Ioryogi is about to bite Kobato’s head off. xD Nice job editing that.

    I have this impression that CLAMP chose something that we all take for granted. I mean, who would actually walk through the narrow side of the pole when they could walk freely in the wide area?

    Ah yeah! I need to go to Japan just to try whether the street pole thing really works 😀 (yeah! Baumkuchen or Kitsune oden sounds quite yummy~) or whether I can fins Yuuko’s shop XD;
    Hm…maybe those creatures were cursed because of the wrong they did? Sounds probable…
    Aww~ Kobato worrying about Ioryogi is so cute!

    I think I saw a mistake on “kobato_drop06_page06.png”‘s first speeche bubble.

    It’s written “Human can’t seem them here, can they.”

    I think we should read “see” instead of “seem” and a question mark should end the sentence.

      Thanks for proofing the chapter!

      I noticed the lack of the question mark, but I thought it was part of their unformal speech (you know how these creatures have very bad-manners xD).

      But the “seem” is indeed a mistake, thanks! Will fix these on the weekend.
