CARDLAND, XXXHOLiC◆Kei news


• CLAMP in CARDLAND:

The package of CLAMP in CARDLAND 3rd Series was added in its official website:

I’m don’t really like this greeny color but the illustration is what matters. Kobato-chan! LOL at chibi Doumeki sitting on Watanuki’s arm.

CLAMP in CARDLAND 3rd Series will be released in May.

• XXXHOLiC◆Kei:

– A new small addition to XXXHOLiC◆Kei‘s official website, the character section is now open featuring the profiles of Yuuko and Watanuki (in Wonderland?).

– Famitsu has an article on the new season and it contains a few nice screencaps from the first episode. Make sure to check it out.

The animation looks neat, doesn’t it?

And here’s a little episode schedule for the new season, I will add the rest of the episodes in due course.

We have some pretty good staff there. With the budget gotten from the DVD sales, I hope they fired the bad animators and kept/hired the good ones.

Junichiro Taniguchi supervised the animation of episode 3 of season 1, and it’s a pretty good-looking episode.
Hiroyo Hizumi is my favorite, s/he supervised the best animated episodes in my opinion, episodes 1, 11 (this one not that much), 18 and 23 of season 1.

As for the script, I’m not liking all that amount of Michiko Yokote-ness xD I thought Ohkawa would handle the Spider Lady episodes since she said she would like to write the scripts for them in the same interview where she said she’d like to animate the Tsubasa Tokyo arc (Puff interview). Maybe she’ll write the 3rd one, where the Spider Lady should appear. Yeah, I forgot to mention, the Spider Lady arc will last for 3 episodes.

    • Well, those are screencaps for episode 1, only. We don’t know yet how the other episodes will look like, but I sure hope it looks better.

  8. I like the illustration of CLAMP in Cardland, but like you, I’m not fan of this green background.
    I think Watanuki-kun as brighter eyes than usual !

    Oh, XXX Holic season 2 looks so great !Better than season one. I hope all episodes will look like that >-w

    The Cardland box is adorable! There’s a Doumeki sitting on Watanuki’s arm ^^b

      Well, IMHO, I really don´t expect much from any TV series, specially when it comes to xxxHOLiC, which is usually so poor-animated. Even commercial [BUT FUNNY] junk like Ouran Host Club received a better care.

      But that´s me wanting every episode to be like the movie and Alanis is telling me “…I am totally short of breath for you, WHY CAN´T YOU SHUT YOUR STUFF OFF??”

      But I´m in the front row with popcorn, and I can see xxxHOLiC animation could be MUCH better, no matter what Alanis says…

        LOL! You’re right, I should have said “by the looks of these promotional pictures, it SEEMS that the animation is going to look good” xDDDDDD

        I am not thinking this will look any near like a Madhouse production (to me the best animation studio out there), but I am thinking, and hoping, that it’ll look fairly better and more equal-leveled than Season 1. Season 1 was too bouncy, it kept changing from “awesome” animation to “WTF is that?”. Since they announced the new season with some good 6 months before its premiere, I am hoping that they spent that big gap improving the animation.

        Anyway, we’ll see if it’s just episode 1 or not.

        LOL I had that quote (minus “why can’t you SYSO…”) in my GTalk until yesterday, you totally read my mind XDD

          HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *ROLLS DESPERATELY ON THE FLOOR* Next time I listen to Front Row, I`ll picture Yuuto and me arguing about xxxHOLiC animation, hahaha

          Totally agree. And I`d like to add that the director(s) used too conventional storytelling and camera angles and photography… Although xxxHOLiC is a pop series, it`s kinda alternative, so I expected a more alternative (or different) approach. Very few episodes had brilliant and creative sequences. Adapting a manga doesn`t mean you have to CTRL+C CTRL+V every angle from the original. You have to think about what works best for animation because, in manga, a certain approach may seem very very appealing, but it doesn`t necessarily look charming on the screen…

            DO IT! DO IT! XDDD It’s fun to mix “fandoms” xD

            Totally agree on XXXHOLiC’s direction. CLAMP did their job on photography by using straight lines, contrast appeal, absolute lack of screentones, and other techniques to create the story’s mood. The anime lacks on that. The “weird factor” is not that weird in the anime. It should be weirder. I think they explored that better in the movie, but the anime is too conventional for me too. Its visual appeal should be stronger.
