CLAMP’s exhibit in Angoulême Report
kitsune_no_ame-san attended to CLAMP’s exposition at this year’s Bande Dessinée festival and she had made a fantastic report which can be read here. She took loads of pictures that give us a good idea about the exposition. She even took photos from the video with the CLAMP members that was being screened at the event ^__^
Really worth checking! Thanks kitsune_no_ame-san for your hard work!

Tsubasa volume 22 clearly didn’t do as well as volume 21, Negima won this round. It didn’t reach the 1st position in any ranking, not even Animate’s, which is quite uncommon. The deluxe edition hasn’t showed its face either, they weren’t pleased with Watanuki or what? xD
Better luck next time!

I hope the OADs sell well, because if they don’t I doubt we’ll have more anime (T-T) but not reaching the first place doesn’t mean it didn’t go well, right? Maybe it’s just the other mangas sold even more.

Indeed, the continuation of the anime depends on how well these OADs sell. It did good, but not as good as the first, like I said.
>Maybe it’s just the other mangas sold even more.
That could be the case as well ^^
The average position was 3rd place, which is still a quite good position ^^

Thanks 4 the news chibiyuuto, kitsune_no_ame-san did an amazing post about the exhibition, ZOMG!! there were a lot of CLAMP stuff to steal admire *o*

She really did! I didn’t think we would see pictures from the video AT ALL *Chibi Yuuto is happy for seeing the caps, and Ohkawa looks so pretty!*
You’re welcome! ^^

While the expo seemed very interesting, in retrospective I don’t think it would justify a trip to France.
Let’s hope the sales justify continuing with the OADs… ;_;

I think any opportunity to see original CLAMP art is a good opportunity. I just couldn’t afford it right now xD

Yes, that opportunity is a good one, but I would appreciate an event with CLAMP themselves.

Very true. I pre-orderd tickets back in december because they lured us by promising a live video conference (which never happened). For me it was “only” 8 hours of train, if it were much more, let’s say I’d have needed to take the plane, I might not have gone either^^;
LikeLike
For me it’s two hours by plane, still you got to see the original art which seems a lot more vibrant than on print.

Yo, Chibi-Yuuto!! ^o^
Well, volume 22 wasn’t in the number one spot… it still made on the top 10 list. One could say that it’s pretty pleasing enough to have good sales. Not that great, but still pretty good.
Ah, I see that has the report of the French exposition of CLAMP’s art gallery. ^^ It’s really worth to check it out!! Sugoi, there’s even photos!! This I definitely have to see! *rushes to the report*
Hontou arigatou gozaimasu for the latest report!! *glomps*
You sure know how to brighten a fangirl’s day, ne! Daisuki desu wa!! ^.~
Ja ne, Chibi-Yuuto!

Yes, Tsubasa #22 did well, even if not as well as #21 ^^ Let’s just hope the next Animate ranking will be:
1st – Tsubasa #23 Limited Edition
2nd – Tsubasa #23
3rd – Tsubasa #23 Deluxe Edition
Would be awesome xD

Aw, volume 22 really didn’t do as good as volume 21.. DX;; -sad-
I hope volume 23 will do better.
Atleast made a good report on CLAMP’s art gallery.. (:
Thanks for the update! ^ 0 ^ ;;

I hope so too! Hopefully it will given the fact that is the last OAD ^^
Indeed, such a great report *-* It feels like we were there xDDDDDDD
You’re welcome ^-^

Weird, i thought volume 22 was better than volume 21. But that’s just me!
Of course #21 had the ++++ of the new artwork dvd case and stuff. I hope #23 will do better than both 21+22!
Thanks for the info – –

I think some people must have watched the 1st OAD, didn’t like it, and decided to not buy the second one. Regular buyers still bought Tsubasa, I’m sure, but Negima probably sold better this time ^^”
You’re welcome !!

Thanx for the plugging xD
Glad to see ppl enjoy it, I really tried to make it sound interesting!
I believe 21 sold better because ppl were curious and it came with a pretty box.
However, my guesses are that 23 will sell even better, because it has TEH kurofayness. I know friends who are only buying 23, and just because of vampire!sex Kurofay^^;;

You did an excellent job, you covered every single part of it ^____^
>I believe 21 sold better because ppl were curious and it came with a pretty box.
Yes indeed… the drop is somehow expected. Some people might have not liked the OADs.
And yeah, I think the sales of #23 will be better than #22, or so I hope ^^

I really liked the watanuki cover and it kind of reflects the sayoran cover because hes holding an item I havent seen maybe the items wil be important in the future . Maybe it was the how simple watanuki is designed compared to yuko a school uniform doesnt seem like detailed art but its one of my favorite covers because I really enjoy xxxholic and its style .

I don’t think Watanuki being in the cover influenced the sales, I was just joking ^^”

Kitsune-san! ARIGATO! *hearts* That was wonderful to see… I wish they had Manga exhibits in my area… *sigh* Even if it wasn’t CLAMP…
Awww.. poor watanuki… I think it’s strange that 22 didn’t do as well…

It’s a pity, I guess the circunstances were different this time. Negima has a lot of OVA and LiveAction adaptations going on recently. It still went pretty good, though =)

Based on my wanderings through various book and anime stores here, I think the deluxe OVA edition is eating the limited edition’s lunch…which is sad because that makes it harder to find in Book-Off. I was lucky to score a copy of the limited edition of volume 20 used last week, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get the limited editions of 21-23 secondhand at all. Conversely, there were two copies of the deluxe editions in my Book-Off last week, which seemed odd.

You mean people aren’t buying the Deluxe Edition and thus it is hard to find it in Book-Off?
>I was lucky to score a copy of the limited edition of volume 20 used last week, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get the limited editions of 21-23 secondhand at all.
But volume 20 doesn’t have any limited edition O.o The Deluxe Edition isn’t a limited item =)

okay, so my terminology is wrong.
but yes, i don’t think people are buying the deluxe edition of 22 very much, i think they’re either going normal or limited, and i think the same is true of 21 and will be for 23 as well, based on my bookstore experience.

Yeah, it was just a matter of naming things right, don’t worry, I understood what you meant ^^
I can see that, the Limited Edition is expensive enough, after all.

I would be pleased if you look at them v_v
I didn’t write an English report, because i totally agree with kitsune_no_ame.
Nice exhibition but too short…and it was a pity that they didn’t have any import stuff, like CLAMP in 3-D land v_v (and it was so sad that they weren’t there, CLAMP-sensei-tachi).
I hope CLAMP sensei would like this exhibition, and that they allow to have a lot more around the world !

I skimmed Mahou sensei… eer people are so perverted no wonder chobits sold well XDDD (Or is it Hogwarts like magic setting?)
And the art is so bad for Hayate no Gotoku
What can I say? people have bad tastes (though I’m no fan of Tsubasa nor xxxholic, at least the storyline is deeper)
