We all know Tsubasa is at it’s final stage, and you all know I’m probably the one person who wants to see the end of it the most xD
So this idea came to me while in the car on my way home…
It’s useless, you are free to skip this post if you want, but I wanna share my craziness xD
Okay… laughed enough? xD
Now shoot me xD
Alright, let me explain just in case my thoughts weren’t successfully expressed xD
We know Volume 22 ends with Chapter 174, so here I am assuming that CLAMP will keep the 8-chapters-per-volume pace (like it usually is).
So we have 8 more for 23, resulting to 182 chapters, 8 more for 24, resulting 190.
Following me until now? Good xD
On Volume 25, however, there’s going to be 9 chapters SO THAT Chapter 200 can be the very first chapter of Volume 26. We know CLAMP would do that… they did it with chapter 100, I think they’ll do it again with 200.
So, 9 chapters for Volume 25, resulting 199 chapters plus 8 chapters for Volume 26 (back at the 8-chapters-per-volume schedule).
We are at 26 volumes, 207 chapters, good.
Now, two things might happen… either the 8-chapters-per-volume will continue or both Volume 27 and 28 is going to have 9 chapters each. The latter theory is only because by doing so, the final chapter would be a round number, 225 (which is my guess). Otherwise, it shall be 223 chapters (or 224, a middle-term xD).
Why do I think there will be 28 volumes? I have a lot of evidences xD Just to name a few:
– 2 Character Guides covering 7 volumes each (makes us think that the 3rd will cover another 7 volumes and a 4th and final one, more 7).
– Artbook covering illustrations from volumes 1 to 14 (makes us think that there will be another Artbook covering the illustrations of other 14 volumes).
– Ohkawa stating at Puff’s interview that 2/3 of the story had been told by chapter 140.

Aw, but one of the best things about reading a story is being able to see it’s end ^^

I can’t wait for Tsubasa to end. Ha ha. I’ve been following it from the start and it’s turned into a much more complex series than I thought it would. That’s not a bad thing, but Tsubasa makes my head hurt far more than xxxHOLiC does.
Of course, by extension, I also can’t wait for xxxHOLiC to end. I love it far more than Tsubasa, but I’m ready for the final chapter.

That makes perfect sense! I have no theories as to when it ends, so I’ll steal yours.
I want TRC to end, just so I know what happens. But I don’t want it to end because that means no more TRC! ;_; But hopefully they release X after TRC, so now I want it to end.

Indeed, I am also putting all my money on the continuation of X and GD shortly after TRC and XXXHOLiC are over, that’s another reason why I can’t wait for the ending.
But I like endings.. I couldn’t wait for Harry Potter’s end, I can’t wait for LOST’s end so of course, I can’t wait for TRC’s, XXXHOLiC’s and sure, why not X’s end as well (This one I’m willing the most!)

Exactly.. that’s why is “Prediction Post #1” XDDDDDD There might be more according to how things flow from here onwards xDDDDD
I’m no good at guessings, so the chances I’m wrong are high xDDDDDD And they might as well either finish ahead of their schedule (*crosses fingers*) OR, get a little too carried away and extends the series for some chapters more (*highly hopes that’s not the case*)
But I don’t think it’s going to be much different than that…

Then we can hopefully get Legal Drug going again (…which is supposed to be 15 volumes or something right?) I don’t think they’ll ever finish X. I really hope the new project is something completely different. CLAMP hasn’t done space right?

I just hope CLAMP are gonna end Tsubasa and Holic ’cause, as you say, one the best thing while reading a story is that we will be able to read the end. “The end” is an happy and a sad thing as well, but a story needs it!

just check, and vol 8 also started with chapter 50 and a color page, only one of Syao Sakura and another of askura in chapter 53 so.. YES, chapter 200, actually the color cover of it will be amazing ^_______^

Yes, I want TRC and XXXHOLiC to end partially because the chances of CLAMP picking up GD and/or X are higher. However, it’s not only because of that… I’ve been reading them for almost 5 years now, weekly, it’s been a long journey (it’s CLAMP’s biggest work to date!), I want it to end already xD
I like new things, I’m curious of tasting different things, I’m ready ^^

No, definitely not! Like I said, one of the reasons I want TRC and XXXHOLiC to end is exactly because the chances of CLAMP picking up those series in hiatus are higher.
I love X and GD… GD is still very “new” to me, we just got 3 volumes… and even though X is been running for over 15 years (thank god I don’t follow it since 92 xD), it’s almost over, so I really want to see the end of it! And it’s X, it’s my favorite CLAMP work… 40% of my love to CLAMP comes from X XDDDDDDDD

Nice guesses and reasonings! I think that it may only be 26 volumes, though. I think I remember hearing something about them finishing the series in 2008? Could be my imagination running wild.
Here’s my geeky predictions and reasonings:
An average of 48 issues are sold during the year, even though the number of magazine volumes goes up between 51 and 53, depending on the year. Based on chibiyuuto’s calculations, to get to book 28, it would be 49 or 51 more chapters, which would place us around early December 2008.
However, CLAMP takes breaks throughout the year, averaging 9 – 11 missing issues per year. Here are the past counts since the series started, and issues missed:
2003 (2 times): 31, 48
2004 (9 times): 13, 19, 28, 31, 35, 39, 40, 49, 52
2005 (11 times): 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 21, 40, 42, 43, 47
2006 (11 times): 2/3, 8, 14, 16, 25, 30, 32, 40, 46, 49, 52
2007 (9 so far): 2/3, 9, 14, 19, 24, 31, 36/37, 42, 45
If history repeats itself, that means that they would only write 39 chapters in the “2008” magazine run if they took a minimum of nine issues off, and the series would run into February-ish of 2009 based on 49 or 51 more chapters.
Up to 26 books, would be 33 more chapters, and adding in breaks, would allow them to end in fall 2008. 27 books could be possible too…

I would love that, really… we just have to wait for Chapter 175 and see if there’s 3 or only 1 color page… (usually when there’s only one it means there will be 9 chapters, while when there’s 3 color pages, it’s usually or always 8 chapters).

We can see by the comments to this post that we have a very clear cut between the TRC fans : those who wish for an end as soon as posible and those who want it to never end.

Hmm, while I don’t want TRC to never end, I can’t help but think that more like 30 volumes would be appropriate. But that said, I think your prediction makes a lot of sense, and I have to agree with it.
Which leads me to think, who’s going to be on the covers? Xing Huo, Kyle, Fei Wong Reed, the other Shaoran, the other Sakura, and someone else? Not Doumeki?

I’ve ran out of ideas for the covers… I think FWR will definitely get one, and I think real!Syaoran or the clone (it depends on who is the one from the 1st cover) will be on the last one.
I think “A” Syaoran will feature the last one, to sum up xD

Well, we are now at the gates of volume 27, with the chapter 211.
If we considerer 8 chapters per volume, we’ll have this series ending at 226, in the best case: 9 chapters per volume: 228
That’s my (now-is-easy-girl!) prediction^^
Considering, of course, there will be 28 volumes^^.
