Great results! From this volume’s belt (obi) came the information that XXXHOLiC has sold more than 8.000.000 tankoubons copies so far. Congratulations to XXXHOLiC! With the anime coming up, these numbers are certainly going to get bigger.

Speaking about the anime, an old news that I haven’t posted yet, but several sources (that includes the belt of volume 12 and CLAMP-NET.COM) have confirmed that the 2nd Season of XXXHOLiC is planned for next Spring.

Next japanese Spring, of course, which corresponds to the period of April to June (“Spring” is relative depending on which side of the world you are at xD).

It’ll most likely premiere on April, though, as I had expected.

  1. 8 millions (*w*) That’s so great, I wonder why CLAMP is leaving Holic aside for such a long time when it’s clear people are dying to read it ;;;

Long way till April, but the Tsubasa OAD’s coming out soon, so I’m not complaining ♥

    • From what I’ve read, xxxHolic and Tsubasa’s stories flow at the same rate, so xxxHolic can’t reveal or refer to something that happens in the Tsubasa world before it happens. I’m guessing this is the major part of the delay. Trivia bit is that xxxHolic has been absent from Young Magazine more times this year than it’s run (25 weeks vs. 21 planned, so far).

Oh, I didn’t know that! Interesting, and sad, bit of info!

      • I know, but it still frustrates me a bit that there’s such a long hiatus… They should have planned something different for the story, even if it was just filler chapters (^^u

It’s because of the links with Tsubasa ^^ Both works have to be syncronized if one doesn’t want to spoil the other.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I had no idea Holic was selling THAT well. I always assumed that Tsubasa was the one making all the money for Clamp right now.

Well, I can definitely understand all the breaks now. The two series are now more thoroughly intertwined than before, as you and other fans have speculated it looks like the both of them are starting to wind down to their respective conclusions. Methinks Clamp wants to keep the manga going strong through to Holic’s second season conclusion as a way of generating interest for the series. Though to be frank, I have the suspicion that neither TRC nor Holic will conclude until sometime in 2009, when the new Dark Horse series is set to begin.

    • Really? I’ve been noticing XXXHOLiC’s good run for the past 2 tankoubons released. Tsubasa is still solding really well, but XXXHOLiC is quite there too.

You got it right about the break, I agree with you in everything.

      >Though to be frank, I have the suspicion that neither TRC nor Holic will conclude until sometime in 2009, when the new Dark Horse series is set to begin.

Yeah, but I’m hoping this new manga will begin in early 2009. It doesn’t matter to me “end of 2008” or “beginning of 2009”, it’s just a couple of months of difference xD

It’s not that it didn’t have great sales before, but seriously, it makes me SO happy

Indeed. It’s still nice to see it hasn’t lost the steam, right? xD

      >it’s never going to end, is it? XD (I like it, though I don’t follow it, but seriously, it’s eternal!)

LOL, I know! XD I’m so glad I’m not a fan xDDDDD

  4. Whoa~~~ Holic is selling better than TRC huh? Congratulation for both of them! *clapping hands*

There’s 2nd season for Holic?? I thought they’ve given up on it, but still, I’m happy to hear it. 😀
