Hello everyone, how have you been? It’s been an entire week since my last post, that’s too long! But in my defense, it’s not my fault, I’ve been there all week but not the news, this month is lacking in news, it’s really boring xD
However, today I do have some great news.
In the most recent issue of Young Magazine, there’s a line with a CLAMP comment by the end of the magazine which reads:
｢ツバサ｣+｢XXXHOLiC｣のメディア化脚本でいっぱいいっぱいです。
Which can be translated as something as: The script for the media adaptation of Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC is almost done.
About a month ago I had posted that Ohkawa wrote in her Private Board that she was working on an anime script. Since she specified it to be the script of an “anime”, we can assume that this media adaptation really is an animation, and not a 3rd Drama CD.
This also debunks the idea that the XXXHOLiC game was supposed to be that media adaptation mentioned at the CLAMP in 3-D LAND DEBUT! event. (I knew it was too weird to be it, specially since there will be no game for Tsubasa, and the media adaptation was promised for both works).
Anyway, I was hoping that when the scans for XXXHOLiC were out we could see that announcement, but the chapter is already out, by sources that are not Alison, and the announcement is nowhere to be seen (because it was published on the final pages of the magazine, not within the chapter). I’m going to ask Alison and see if she can find such announcement and scan it for us.
EDIT: -san has kindly managed to provide a scan where we can see the sentence. It was published on the summary of Young Magazine and you can see the scan HERE.
All we know so far is that there’s a media adaptation/conversion in the works, and that CLAMP (Ageha Ohkawa) is writing the script for it. We know it’s an animation because Ohkawa said so herself, but we don’t know what kind of animation.
If you want my opinion, I’d say it’s OVAs. Ohkawa said in the Puff interview (the same where they said that 2/3 of Tsubasa’s is story already been told) that she would like to see anime versions of the Tokyo arc, for Tsubasa, and the Spider Lady arc, for XXXHOLiC, and what’s more, she said she would like to write the scripts herself! Looks like she made it xD
I know it’s not appropriated to just say it and not give any sources, I don’t have the interview quote here right now, but if anyone is interested I might search for it when I have some time. I remember that I had seen that quote when I was making the post about the interview highlights, but I wasn’t sure about it because it seemed too good to be true, as though my own wishes were changing it’s true meaning XDD So I left that one out. I deeply regret that now xD
I realized I’ve talked more than I intended to with this post xDDD I think the days that I spent quiet have accumulated and now I want to speak up xD
Before leaving, I do have a few important things to say:

2 – MY SERVER IS BACK FOR ME! I can see all my websites, pictures and files under my server! It’s been months since I didn’t have access to it. You have no idea how nice is to see your layout again xDDDDDD Which reminds me it’s time to change it, but I don’t have time for that now…
3 – The season finale of LOST airs TODAY! And I am EXCITED!! XD

I find difficult to be another TV series. They are probably going to conclude the un-concluded series by releasing OVAs from time to time, that’s my guess. A movie would just seem really off right now xDDD

Yeah, the wisest thing to do is to wait for an official announcement. But the mere fact that Ohkawa is working on it makes me think it’ll be worth it ^__^

To me it’s either a movie or an OVA, indeed. I see no point in making TV series anymore. Is it asking too much to have MadHouse animating it? ._.

An OVA would be really great although a total remake of Tsubasa is even better XD, but it has to be done by MadHouse. BeeTrain cannot be satisfying to me anymore…
Anyway, anything that Ohkawa works on is worth it. Ah, I want a third drama CD too…

I want a 3rd CD Drama too, in spite of this new media adaptation XP We’ll probably have one before both series are over.

Anime remakes are very rare but it’s not impossible, so let’s hope that it will happen maybe three years later XD

We don’t know for sure which arcs it’s going to be about, but I really think it might be those two. Or maybe the one with the corpse since it links with Tsubasa (the water from the well).

I would be SO happy if it did turn out to be an OAV of the Tokyo arc. I’d be even happier if it were Madhouse picking up the series and continuing it starting with the Tokyo arc (The possibility of seeing Fay’s vampire transition scene animated is making me blush already!!!

Hum … media they said … not a TV anime nor a movie they would have told us so right away, they always do. I doubt they would have said media if it was an OVA, they usually say so right from the start too … media … maybe something like the Wish gift box, let’s say a package with the spider lady on drama CD, the Tokyo arc + the cat and window fall on OVA DVD, a rough drawing and interview booklet, etc. … or a DVDrom that include both the spider lady and the tokyo arc along other stuff … but wouldn’t they just call it a DVDrom in that case? …
I better wait for the official anouncement, my imagination is running wild. ^^;

The word “media” intrigues me… but at first I thought they wanted to keep secret of what -kind- of media. But then Ohkawa posts she’s writing an ANIME script, so my first thought was OVA. I find hard to believe they are going to release 2 movies at once. Movies are big things, it takes months to make one, even more if it’s 2.

Oh? I was under the impression it was a single project about both Tsubasa and xxxHolic … likely because of the +, Tsubasa + holic … maybe I got it wrong and it’s two deferent projects …
Internet maybe more commercial that it looks, wasn’t CG released on bigGlobe? Maybe the Tsubasa / Holic project will be one of the first in a new trend, just like when the first OVAs were realesed (ok, my imagination is getting absolutely out of controle here ^^;).

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see how Acid Tokyo or Spider Lady could be transferred to OVAs. Aren’t they too long to be OVAs? I mean, whenever I think of OVAs, I always think of short videos like the music videos but are some maybe longer? I know there are two Tokyo Babylon OVAs but I always thought those were super short. And I don’t know, to me a movie seems more appropriate than multiple OVAs.
Either way, it’ll hopefully be Acid Tokyo/Spider Lady but I’m kinda also hoping for Infinity as well…
But if Subaru is in it and pretty, all is well in the world of Alice. ALL.

For Clamp OVAs we have:
Rg Veda -> 45 minutes
Rg Veda 2 -> 39 minutes
TB -> 46 minutes
TB2 -> 52 minutes
X épisode 0 -> 37 minutes
Rayearth 1 -> 45 minutes
Rayearth 2 -> 45 minutes
Rayearth 3 -> 45 minutes
Miyuki-chan -> 29 minutes
For Clamp movies we have :
X -> 98 minutes
CCS 1 + Clover -> 92 minutes
CCS 2 + Kero-chan -> 106 minutes
xxxHolic + Tsubasa -> 94 minutes
OVAs are usually about half the time of a movie, but twice the time than a TV anime episode.

Hmmm… Interesting. O.O Maybe an OVA could be done… still, though, I feel like it wouldn’t fit. That’s probably just me, though. Maybe it’s because I was hoping for Acid Tokyo + Infinity? ’cause I feel like just having Acid Tokyo wouldn’t make sense since the two flow together in my mind. I keep picturing a movie with Acid Tokyo + Infinity that ends with them landing in Celes. But an OVA would be good, I suppose. o.o

Sure Acid Tokyo alone would feel weird. The TV series ended in a “let’s travel together forever and forgive about our past lives!” kind of mood and the OVA would end in a gloom and doom mood. That’ll make the little THK watcher kids cry their eyeballs out. ^^;
If they do an OVA about Acid Tokyo alone, they’ll likely make a second one about Infinity and Selece.
The best deal would be an OVA as long as a movie, cause we wouldn’t have to what for six month to get the DVD rip and would have enough time to get a detailled Acid Tokyo + Infiny. ^^;

Even though people say that Infinity was boring, I still love it. I mean… the fanservice! D= And I want to see the end of Infinity. That made it worth the wait. So I hope they do do a movie length OVA of Acid Tokyo and Infinity. Subaru + KuroFai bitchslap would make everything so much better.
I can’t wait for the fanbrats who are all like, “THE TSUBASA ANIME IS SO KAWAII~~~~!!!elevenohone!!!one!” to see Acid Tokyo. x3

I think OVAs can actually be any length that’s needed. The only requirement is that they’re direct-to-video. There have been feature-length OVA sequels to movies, for example.

Although, 45 minutes is pretty much the avarage of the ones I watched (I won’t pretend I’ve watched all the OVA ever produced). It’s likely the best balance cost/benefice you can get with direct video/DVD release. If you do a feature-length OVA, better split the story into a series of two OVAs and make more money. Unless it’s a movie sequel and fans expect movie standards.

Yes indeed. Not to mention it’s a common thing to release OVAs to “conclude” an unfinished series (Love Hina, to name just one). Rayearth had 3 OVAs after it’s 50 episodes, why can’t TRC and XXXHOLiC have both 3 OVAs as well? XDDDD
OVAs are usually bigger than an anime episode but shorter than a movie, the production and animation quality is also a bit better than an anime episode but no better than a movie. Sounds good to me ^^
