CLAMP in 3-D LAND DEBUT! Report

The characters of CLAMP’s works can be enjoyed in 3 dimensions at the event of the CLAMP in 3-D LAND Trading Figures sale commemoration, CLAMP in 3-D LAND DEBUT!, held on March 18th of 2007, at the TOKYO FM HALL. This time, were invited for this special event those who purchased the wide-popular 1 Series in November. CLAMP’s talk was, of course, about “The secret of the creation of CLAMP in 3-D LAND“, and the first screening of the recently-completed animation clip of CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 1995~2006 got plenty satisfaction from the audience! The 1st part of the event started at 14:00 and the 2nd part at 17:30, the staff of CLAMP-PLA.NET has made a full report of the 1st part!

TOKYO FM HALL

The meeting place for this time was the one near the Imperial Palace, TOKYO FM HALL. It’s a hall where events like concerts, lecture meetings and plays are usually held at.

CLAMP in 3-D LAND welcomes

In the hall entrance and in the lobby, the characters of CLAMP in 3-D LAND, displayed inside a glass case, welcome the guests. Everybody watched enthusiastically the characters of the 2nd Series that were still not available for purchase at the event date (Freya from Chobits, Syaoran from Tsubasa – RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE –, Rikuou Himura from Gouhou Drug, Yasha-ou from RG Veda and Hikaru + Misaki from ANGELIC LAYER).

Rehearsal

The rehearsal was done in the hall, before the doors were opened, in the same flow as the real thing. The expression of the staff who checks the screened preparation for the movie, camera materials, image and sound is serious. Work is done very carefully so that troubles should not occur in the real thing.

Opening the doors

Before opening the doors, there was already a long line of attendants in the stairway which led to the hall entrance, waiting for admission! Among them, someone who came all the way from Hokkaido just for that day. Influenced by CLAMP Mokona no Okimono Kimono, she was wearing a wonderful kimono.

Goods Corner

A long line was also formed in the Goods Corner where shitajikis, clear files, poster cards and other goods of Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC were being sold! In special, the event-limited good “3-D LAND 1st series package illustration specially-made pearl bromide photo frame” seemed to have gotten large popularity.

Opening

The 1st part of CLAMP in 3-D LAND DEBUT! finally starts! The expectation and the tension of the guests who watched the opening film that had been projected onto a large screen seemed to whirl inside the hall.

CLAMP Appearance

In the midst of cracking applauses, the CLAMP members Ageha Ohkawa, Tsubaki Nekoi, Mokona and Satsuki Igarashi appeared in this order! Among dresses and kimonos, the colors and materials in their clothes shone their individual personalities, “The clothes were chosen to suit the Spring”. By the way, seems like the clothes worn in the 2nd part were also based on the Spring (picture = lower right).

The secret of the creation of CLAMP in 3-D LAND

The production process of Subaru from Tokyo Babylon, scheduled for the 3rd Series, was introduced by the image and commentary from the prototype designer, Satou Kashou. “The more the Series are claimed, the more the quality will rise, we think”, said Satou impressively.

CLAMP in 3-D LAND Photograph Announcement

The “interesting” pictures taken by the purchasers of CLAMP in 3-D LAND were announced. Ageha Ohkawa’s favorite was the one sent by someone with the pen-name of “Tsuki Sora”-san, who sent “Syaoran-kun fighting against a giant pizza” (top picture). “Love Dog & Chii” and “Stuffed Ioryogi & Chii”, among others, were also some of the lovely combinations.

3rd Series & Privilege Figure Announcement

The line-up of CLAMP in 3-D LAND 3rd Series and the privilege of acquiring the Boxes of Series 1 to 4 were announced. 5 new characters (Watanuki Kimihiro from XXXHOLiC, Sumomo + Kotoko from Chobits, Ashura from RG Veda, Sumeragi Subaru from Tokyo Babylon and Asahi Hinata from ‘Suki. Dakara Suki’) are scheduled for June! And then, the figure of “Vampire Fye” was decided to be the Boxes-purchasing privilege!! (bottom pic) [Note from Chibi Yuuto: not even CLAMP were aware of that announcement. The audience and the CLAMP members went “EHHH?” and Nekoi asked “…why Fye?” LOL!]

The First Screening of CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 1995~2006

Not to mention works that were made into animes of great popularity like Tsubasa and XXXHOLiC, the well-known CLAMP characters are all at a large gathering! Characters from first-time animated works like ‘Suki. Dakara Suki’, Gouhou Drug and Kobato. also appeared, to the over-enjoyment of the audience. Cheers and applauds echoes from the audience as the image flowed with a speedy development and great power. In addiction, the members of CLAMP announced that “sales are planned for during this year”, for which made the fans very happy.

Present Lottery Service

Kobato. goods, CLAMP Mokona no Okimono Kimono specially-made clear files, original accessory set designed by Mokona, etc, were presented to the audience through lottery service. There was the rare prize of “event limitation goods” signed by the members of CLAMP, too.

Ending

Following the closing greetings from the CLAMP members, the Opening and the Ending, featured by Ioryogi, of CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2 1995~2006 were screened. In the future, CLAMP in 3-D LAND will continue up to 8 Series until September 2008! From now on, what kind of character shall appear? And also, what kind of diorama shall be reproduced? Everyone, please look forward to it!!

General info about “CLAMP IN WONDERLAND 2”:
About the OP:

– The book Yuuko is reading is Magic Knight Rayearth, that’s why it’s the first world the Mokonas arrive. The pages from the book seem to be just like ones from the real manga, both when they dive into the book and when they come out of it, by the end of the video.
– Rayearth (the mashin) is made of 3D.
– Lan and Gingetsu are there, but we can only see their back.
– The characters of CCD and Duklyon appear in an advertising poster in a building, in the X segment.

About the ED:

– Features Ioryogi riding a toy car (as you could see in the picture xD). The staff credits roll in the left.
– He drives the car while interacting with some CLAMP mascots like the little monkey from Tokyo Babylon, Usyagi and the globe-fish from CCD.
– At the end of the video, we see the message “SEE YOU AGAIN” followed by the name “CLAMP” surrounded by the individual signatures of the CLAMP members (just like the end of CLAMP IN WONDERLAND).

About the production:

– Mokona got angry several times while working on the storyboard because of the big amount of characters and the speed they all appear on-screen.
– The number of sheets used in the animation was the same amount of sheets used in a conventional 20-minutes anime episode (talk about quality o.o).

      Hahaha, I guess they took advantage of the fact that they can put a lot of characters from AL in the audience, watching the fight between Hikaru and Mokona xD

    Does it mean that the Fye figurine is given when you buy the 4 series ? (nooo, please no T_T damnit, I will never have it if it is that ! I’ll buy all the series (I’ve already the first one) but i’ll not be able to have this one T_T…and it’s Fye T_T)

        • Oh, I understand now, it’s probably going to be really hard to get Fye outside Japan. But think on the bright way, you’ll have ALL other Figures ^___^ (me, for example, won’t have any xD)

      YES! And what’s best, the person who said that also gave the page number they believed it could be. They said that when they dive in the book, it’s the page 24 from volume 1. And when they leave, at the end, it’s page 194 from vol 3 of Rayearth 2. But they aren’t sure of that last one (is there a page 194?)

        Well for page 24 it makes sense because it is when Hikaru, Umi and Fuu are falling from the sky of cephiro. For page 194, maybe…it’s when Mokona leaves Cephiro to go to another world; in the end it’s a good bye, so it could be.

          Even a 20-minute long OVA would be like a dream xDDD Or a 7-minutes video-clip (that is, only for the OP). But if they had a hard time doing this one, imagine how hard it will be for the 3rd one ^^” I think they’ll have to go for a longer song by the next time xD

              SURE ! I support you through and through!! XD That would be like a dream. It would be a HELL of a project too… think about the amount of seiyuus xDDDD But you’re right, they’ll be almost celebrating their 30th anniversary, a video-clip wouldn’t do the justice to it ^^

    Gingetsu & Ran! My favorite characters! ^^” I’m so thrilled to see them. I thought they had no chance at all at making it into the video! This is awesome!

    …Hmm. It seems that whenever some sort of Clover anime is made, Oruha is the only one not in it. She wasn’t in the Clover music video either. That’s odd. O.O

      You know, I didn’t think it looked too much different from P. IG’s version O.o For me they always did a great job with Watanuki and Doumeki (the problem was Yuuko -_-“)

      • I think the HOLiC art in the anime really bothered me because the length of the limbs was so… awkward when they moved. It was kind of bothersome. Especially on Yuuko. And… I don’t know. I just didn’t like it very much. But that one shot of MH version makes me happy inside. It looks so smooth. *-*

        If it is a misunderstanding… I think I might murder someone. Heehee.

        If a full-length Clover anime was made, I bet they’d find someone to conveniently never show Oruha’s face. D= I want to see Oruha animated! Her TRC animation was less than stellar and now I want her original Clover version! Deliver, Madhouse, deliver!

        I should stop demanding things from Madhouse and CLAMP. I’ll only wind up more disappointed. D=

    • I thought of you when I saw the confirmation that Kakyou was in ^_____^ Since they are all in an Okonomiyaki restaurant, I guess he can stay sit quiet just enjoying the food (until Kamui and Fuuma start to fight and everything blows up XD)

    • I LOL-ed so hard at that xDDDD But I thought they were more involved in the production…. I think they only selected which characters would become 3-D Figures. If that’s the case, maybe there WILL be a “Normal Fye” Figure (because they wouldn’t let Fye aside).

    Lol ! Really ?? XD But that’s better like this, maybe Clamp wouldn’t have chosen Vampire Fye to be the privilege figure… But, aaah ! I can’t wait to see a better version of Fye… He looks so great !! I MUST HAVE IT !!! I hope on fiding it on eBay when it cames out (er, event if I don’t think I’ll find it there -_-), because I can’t find anywhere the two boxes ='(

    • First of all, YOU’RE WELCOME! I’m very glad you liked it ^____^ it gave me a hell of a work to make it, I spent my whole weekend doing it so it’s VERY nice to get some appreciation ^_____^

      Yes, I know what you mean. But no, they don’t design them. The designer is Satou Kashou, she also designed the CnK chess pieces. I believe she is the one who does the sketches too (otherwise we would see in BIG letters “SKETCHES DESIGNED BY CLAMP!!!!!!”. I was mostly surprised for the fact that they didn’t KNOW it would be Fye xDDD I mean, how deep is their involvement in this project? XD So, I think they have only picked which characters would become Figures and let the company taking charge of the production to decide the rest (or maybe they didn’t even picked the characters, but I so not want to believe that xD).

      When I saw the “…Naze Fye?” of Nekoi I laughed so hard xD

        yeap you´re totally right… but hey I still have hope they pick up the characters -except for vampire Fye of course- otherwise the figures are just extremely expensive for nothing XD…I thought the price was totally worth it because CLAMP was terribly involved on the figures production but if it isn´t lke that then there´s no diference with any other CLAMP´s series based anime figure we have since CCS… *depresed* Well I guess we have figures of characters we would only dream to have figures (Subaru, Hinata… btw I HAVE NEVER EVER UNDERSTOOD WHY THE HELL NO ONE EVER THOUGHT IN MAKING 20/25/30 CM TALL KAMUIS OR EVEN FYES in cool posses! dammit!           The only difference is that these are *official*. CLAMP are probably giving the final bow to everything.

          INDEED! I like Chibis, but CLAMP characters are much prettier in their REAL form. Maybe they’ll eventually release them (and they’ll cost like 10.000 yens xD)

            I HOPE SO! Is a big trauma in my life actually XD I saw the other day the Lamento figures (thats a BL videogame nevermeind it) but that means woman also buy figures! WE need more shojo manga based figures then! That´s a un-explored market people!… Now if this becomes real someday, they should pay us for the idea XD

  24. so desperatly wish to see the animation! All those amazing characters all cramed into one short film…is so impressive! (am still vaugly sad that we won’t be seeing Tsubasa Sei!!)

    also was intresting to read about the debut for the figures (I wonder if they’ll produce them in America/England at any point)
