Here we are one more week and this time we have double chapters !

The splash page, what can I say? VERY nice. I’m loving Sakura here, and the Syaoran from the right xDD they’re taking off your clothes, you’re being stalked, sakura-chan XD
Hikaru is, as expected, as fast as light, and Syaoran notices that xD However, I think he already found her weak point (the fact that she’s a machine can be used against her). So I know things will turn to Syaoran’s side on the next chapter.
Then, we see more of the oh-so-many secret talks with Yuuko.
Sakura wants to go to the world she saw in her vision in order to prevent that future from happening. At first I thought she didn’t know what world that was, but reading well, seeing how she said “kono sekai”, I’m starting to think she knows what world is that. I might be wrong though ^^”
So, since she can only use the power to cross dimensions ONCE (like anybody else so far except Yuuko and Fei Wang), and since she can’t decide the world she’ll land to, she asks Yuuko to make her land in that specific world. However, we know our favorite Witch and she doesn’t do a thing for free, and so she asks for a price.
The price is OMG Sakura’s good luck ! Now, I so so so so loved that. If already I loved CLAMP before now I love them a bit more. Because until now I wasn’t able to digest that little “God’s daughter” story, and all her immense luck annoyed me. I mean, just because she’s the main character AND CLAMP’s most known character? Now, having CLAMP taking away one of the few things Sakura still has, yeah, that makes me immensely happy ^_____^ In other words, I like when main characters are just as normal as any not-main characters, it’s not because she’s “Sakura” that her ass will always be the one with the best smell.
Also, this made me think how Yuuko chooses what price her costumes will have to pay. I mean, why her luck?
Anyway, this leads us to the other side of the boat. Who do we know that totally LACKS on good luck? Way to go for those who thought on Himawari! XDDD It was my first and immediate thought, that that luck might eventually be transfered to Himawari. After all, Yuuko doesn’t keep anything to herself. If you ask me, I sure hope so, it would be SO awesome if that happens.
And now we wait 2 weeks to see what’s going to happen.

Today is the day of the awesome splash pages. I loved this Maru & Moro one too ! They appear way too few in XXXHOLiC.
A two-headed crow broke the kekkai protecting the store and flew inside it o_________o
TODAY, Yuuko just flicked her hand and that was enough to make it disappear, but I’m not so sure if that will work as efficiently as it did.
And it’s not a normal crow, it has two heads….. I don’t know but it looks like it was sent by someone.
Yuuko says the energy protecting the place has weakened due to the path that the TRC people has chosen o.o That store is more connected to Sakura and the others than I actually had thought o.o
Now, isn’t this one of the best dresses Yuuko has ever worn?
Bah! Watanuki made gloves to Doumeki? XDDDD LOL! That will give the fangirls a lot of subjects to talk about during the waiting for the next chapter xD
And oh, look who’s back, Kohane-chan ! And Watanuki made gloves for her too~~ how cute xD (he’s making gloves to everybody xD)
Unfortunately I can’t tell what they are talking about, but there are many awkward expressions from Watanuki so I guess the conversation is well, something very Kohane-ish ^^”

Yeah, I had thought about Himawari as well. Lately Yuuko’s prices have been having some use later on in either story, I wouldn’t put it past it in this case either.
I noticed the two-headed crow as well, reminded me of Subaru’s shikigami from the first volume of TB. That’s not very good if shiki’s are getting through. I think Watanuki is going to kill me with his gentle smiles though. 😀

The shikigami’s seem to vary in appearance greatly, Yuuko’s is a butterly. We’ve seen Subaru’s a both a black and white crow, the number of heads vary though.

I think that’s the only instance where we saw him using a black crow, his were usually white. It’s probably just some random practitioner’s shiki, but they typically are looking for a target, aren’t they?

But, if it’s a shikigame, don’t you think we would have seen the “paper”? We always see it when someone defeats one. And since Mokona said that they started appearing after the ghost girl went to the shop, I wonder if it’s not just some random creature from the underworld.

It’s either a shikigami or some other creature, it’s hard to tell. Subaru summoned his from either a piece of cloth or paper, Yuuko seems to do the same as well. Seishirou summoned his without anything as a source, so I think it can vary.
I more curious about what will happen when the shops kekkai completely fails, how will it effect everything.

Sorry to intrude, just to make you remember that Seishirou summoned his own at least one only by using his cigarette smoke, so if you dismiss a smoke base shikigami, nothing will be left. But in the case of the shikigami Yuuko was taking care of, it looks like the two-headed bird turned into a bat shaped piece of paper on page 2. Which probably means Feiwang Reed. ^_~

02.jpg in the file available on the Room of Requirement on the fourth and fifth panel, just after Yuuko raised her hand. It’s hard to see since it’s very much alike the wind gust and don’t look for a real bat, it’s looking like the symbols Feiwang Reed put everywhere.

But yeah, I do feel that Sakura has some kind of “protection” from CLAMP. I mean, what are the chances of seeing Sakura’s head being chopped off? XD She’s able to talk to animals, she has the power to change worlds, she can see the future, she’s lucky, she’s PERFECT ! XD So it’s really nice to see Sakura being a little less-perfect.

You know, everyone’s been talking about how both series might be coming to an end in the nearer future, but the fact that the shop is weakening or whatever is the first evidence I’ve actually seen that would make me consider that. Man, I dreamed about talking to Indonesian crows this morning. I wonder if the gloves are significant in some way, beyond being a nice present?
I still can’t believe Sakura is going alone, either, but it’s looking more and more likely. I still don’t like it though. But Himawari getting her good luck will make up for it a little bit.

I was getting irritated with that luck of hers ever since I saw what happened in Koryo – especially in Piffle (the way she got the best position really irks me). It’s good that she has given up something in order to diminish that perfect-ness of hers.

LOL! Talking about birds, when you look at the 2nd DVD-Box, you can see crows in the background on the other side of the shougi. And in this chapter, we saw what seems to be a (two-headed) crow shaped shikigami belonging to Feiwang Reed. So we can deduce that the crows on the DVD-Box is a symbolic representation of this ever watching villain (whom, of course, will be proven to be have a very noble goal at the end of Tsubasa, just like Taishakuten or Zagato). But, let’s take a look at the role the crows usually play in the ancient japanese mythology and folklore…

Totally. ^_~ You know, having the two boys ending up as couple is the easiest way for Yuuko to prevent the spirits from attacking Watanuki, which is at the core of this serie. And since we all know that Yuuko usually choose the easiest, least expensive way to fulfill a wish, she probably did see the possibilities that that pairing brings. And look how often she insist for them to do her chores together.
But the problem is that xxxHolic is serialized in a teenage boy magazine, so I don’t think the editor will let two boys ended up together when every week cover brings a new bikini girl. So the only way the boys can form a couple is by adding a girl. This way, Watanuki will be able to realized is sweetest dream (being with Himawari-chan) by the sacrifice of having is worst nightmare turn into reality (being with Doumeki). Totally in this manga spirit if you ask me.
I’m not sure it will end this way, there’s still some possibilities on the Zashiki-Warashi’s side, but Yuuko could propose to Watanuki to choose this option. this way, Watanuki will only have to pay Yuuko for her machtmaker services. ^_~
My! I wrote a novel again, so it’s time to go to work. ^_~

All the matter about Sakura’s luck made me think about Himawari. TRC and Holic and getting one into the other more and more recently.
Also, this made me think how Yuuko chooses what price her costumes will have to pay.

WOW!! That cover is supreme!! i love the way both syaoran´s seems to be ready to undress Sakura, and i certanly love Clone-syao pose! he is the best and the coolest!!… ehem, sorry for the crazzy-fan explosion.
Oh, so Sakura is giving up her good luck. hehe, i reaaaally love clamp for this. i´m more than sure now that we will see soon her ass kicked, and its another point to believe that even when she will obtain her wish of travelling alone, sooner or latter she will realize that she is unable to save anybody by herself, and without her good luck, even worse. On the other hand, Clamp would be unfair if sakura recover her luck, so i hope she doesnt ever get it back. She was to perfect to me, and perhaps that makes her so stupid and annoying. Maybe now i begun to like her a bit… but not before she gets her ass kick, hehehe.
And, even when Himawari will seem the best destination for that good luck, i wonder what price will she have to pay for that.

Indeed it is a pretty splash page, but I see something in Sakura’s expression, I don’t know what it is, something in the eyes.
Last week I was so happy with the automata reference (I love Hoffmann!) and its cool to se Hikaru (I’d love to see Wizard too!) But Shaoran WILL defeat her (joins in the cheerleading).
Is interesting the fact that Sakura is now deprived from her luck. (And it was really surprising your expression XD) But then we will see her efforts paying of, because beside the luck, she is the one in the quest for her memories and now she will have to try extra hard to get them, because she don’t want to impose anymore on the team (and because she blames herself for the clone situation) And now, she wants to do something for Fai, to change the future, that will be more difficult than the feathers quest.
And yes, it would be nice that Himawari gets the luck, but maybe it is a powerful weapon that is in reserve for the end, like Doumeki’s egg.
Honestly, I don’t think the series will end soon, even with the Celes world ahead, I believe there are some loose threads still.
Now, we have to wait, ne?

I can’t keep up with all these wishes…am giving in and letting story wash around me for a while!! I’m partial to your theory that Himiwari gets Sakura’s luck, would be ammazingly cool and seems very possible! I’m loving all the little Watanuki gloves, though one can’t help but wonder how many nights he was up making them! (also yuuko’s dress is, indeed, one of the best!)
